Thanx Tom Gray... I bought u r 1st 2 LP's The Brains & Electronic Eden back in the 80's and was really knocked out by u r sound...Really :) Anyway I am still a Fan of The Brains in 2015 listen ( on my IPOD ) to them while I do my workout @ the Gym I frequent... u r Tunes seem to Motivate me ;)
Tom originally wrote the song with three verses, but it has never been recorded or even performed that way. Cyndi sang the second verse that was on the Brains' self-produced 45. On the Mercury version Tom sang the other verse you quoted.
@Firfag What are you talking about?: 'Money Changes Everything' (7" single) Gray matter 1978 'The brains' Mercury 1980 'She's so unusual' Portrait 1983 Is a original song by Tom Gray, if you think you're a Cyndi Lauper fan then you don't know anything, buy and read the credits of 'She's so unusual'
I wonder why Tom chooses to now sing it with the changes Lauper made. "Aw but their eyes roll back and it all turns into a kind of a game- and if the new way isn't any better they say..well it least it's not the same" Money, money changes everything....Those were my favorite lines and he replaced them with the bs Cyndi used about trust. Regardless, Tom and the Brains were awesome!
I knew Tom since 81, with Brains. I miss him so much.
R.I.P Tom
The Best Version I've heard Yet. Awesome
This is underrated band!
RIP Tom Grey

Amazing how this song has made such a great big ol' circle!
Cyndi made it famous, but Tom makes it great!!!

heard it on cable tv, huge fan now!
Man, that wonderfully ragged voice reminds me of the late, great Warren Zevon.
Yup, lyrically too. Still great in 2024.

Love ya, Tom!!!
Wow, that was a great cover of Cyndi Lauper's song. You really did justice to the legendary ballad she wrote *all by herself.* You go girl.

Man That's Nice!!! Tom is the man!!
I have 3 Brains albums ... saw them at Hunts in Vermont.
Then you've got the entire set. Tom remembers that show in Vermont.
wonderful
Hope to see them today evening in Rüthi Switzerland at the "Grütli Club"
This is a great cover version;)
Actually that's the dude who wrote it

happy hollidays>*^*
What's he playing?
He seems like the genuine thing👍🎵
That's an electric, chromatic version of an Appalachian dulcimer.
Now after following Delta Moon (also an old Brains fan) it seems strange to see Mark playing a Les Paul.
