SKK-8K Stack Kit for Samsung Washer Dryer. Poorly designed.

- Unhappy with this product I got from Amazon. The stack kit is the SKK-8K it is made specifically for the Samsung washer dryer model numbers-WF45R6100AP and DVE45R6100P.
There were two sets of brackets that came with the set. We used the set that fit out units. However although the brackets were the correct fit. They were not well designed for installation.
Basically there is only one pre-drilled hole on the washer for the brackets provided. And on the dryer the two holes match up well with the brackets however the screws provided with the stack kit do not tighten enough (in my opinion. I feel it will come loose soon.
Updated after 3 months- No issues with support of dryer. Brackets have held well even though only one screw would fit. If needed I will drill another hole on washer and use a larger screw on dryer.
The instructions say that the bigger brackets are for the 27” washer/ dryer. It’s wrong. The smaller brackets are for the 27” not the 30”. I had the same issue until I tried the other brackets and yay. It works perfect.

It only needs to last 2.5 yrs. By then you'll be having issues with the drum felt and controller board which will cost very close to the cost of replacement. Ours was installed by HD delivery and done wrong they never connected the water line for the dryer steam either. By the time my wife realized that the steam feature did nothing and called HD was told it was to late to call the original delivery company back out. They sent a independent repairman out who installed hose kit and said this happens frequently. Either way Samsung CS is close to worthless at least for appliance issues. Bad dryer, refrigerator and stove with terrible customer service. Is there a better brand out there? Who knows!

i had the same issue. i bought the skk-7a kit (same one in the video) but i needed the skk8k fixed the issue for me.
Glad yours was correct. My 8k was not the right fit. Perhaps they packed the wrong kit or mislabeled the kit but mine didn’t fit:). Thanks for watching.
I just bought the installation kit and Samsung washer/dryer. actually, looking at videos b4 installing ...ugh, this is discouraging. I however, thank you for the info...

I had the same problem and I’m taking this kit back after seeing this video . I got the washer and dryer 3 days ago . Thanks for the video because I think that they sold the wrong kit .. thanks again
Man, use a bigger screw. And for the bottom use a self tap screw. Problem solved. Regards

Have you had any problems since? I’m supposed to be installing our kit this weekend but after seeing this I’m wondering what to do.
No problems yet. The one screw hole that actually lines up is apparently strong enough. Still frustrating though

@@edandg ours lined up perfect and was easy to install. Samsung has changed models and there is a variation between kits. Samsung also has an easy 3 minute assembly video to assist there paper instructions.

You put the wrong screw in the kit, 📚 the instructions, that screws were to hold on place the plastic that holds the dryer.
Nah. LOL. Thank you for the comment though. Brackets are incorrectly made. Alas it keeps my dryer I place so not too big of an issue.
I bought the same stack kit and same washer. I thought I was having the same problem because I was using the same brackets. If you use the other brackets and and screws it'll all fit.

In the instructions, under where it says washer, is a caution ⚠️ saying that you need to use the proper rear bracket depending on your washer model. (There are 2 different rear brackets provided in the kit). I'm just now putting mine together and investigated it some after watching your video. I think you need to use the shorter wider brackets. 🤔 I'm not 100% sure as I said I am just now tackling this myself. Good luck! I hope you got it figured out! 👍

What direction are the side pieces supposed to go? They are curved like they should fit over the side of the washer but they do not fit? WTF

Wow, trying to put ours together and running into similar issues. I have to agree that Samsung did a TERRIBLE JOB AT DESIGNING THEIR SHIT. Ours has been an issue since the wife ordered it. 2 months late, crapy delivery and NO installation and just a crock of garbage from Home Depot and TEMCO Logistics services. Not to mention Samsung design flaws.
We have always enjoyed our Samsung products. But there are a few issues lately.

My set came with 2 diffrent types of brackets, only one set works properly. Someone is trying to save money by sending only one set of the brackets hoping they fit.
Hey folks, so I figured it out. So if you have the 27 inch model DO NOT USE THE ONES SHOWN HERE. You need to use the short stubby set. Take the existing screw that is in the machine out. Ne Next take one Pan screw and put it in the top corner slaughtered a sloted hole of the bracket. Take the screw that you took from the back panel of the machine and put it back Into the bottom left hand slot on the bracket. Next put in the remaining screws one more on the top left corner and 1 more in the bottom right of the bracket put them in loosely do not tighten anything until you get the other side on once you get them shattered and on tighten everything up up I will try to send a picture or do a video and post it here in a few minutes Hope this helps you guys it did me thanks have a good day.
Yes clearly that’s how it’s supposed to work. I held up the first bracket. It didn’t line up. Instead of installing it and making a complaining video for UA-cam, I tried the other supplies brackets. Fit perfect. Glad I am able to figure easy things like this out on my own instead of just forcing the wrong brackets on my machines and then complaining via UA-cam🤣😬
but the plastic side pieces don't fit the top of the washing machine. Who the F designed this?

From what I found out for my setup samsung has 2 different types of brackets maybe amazon sent the wrong ones?
According to the label it was the correct one. At any rate it is holding the dryer in place so far. Lol.
Same. My holes were all off by at least 1/4. I just bent the bracket to fit the 1 bolt screw
See my channel i have video on what an 8k looks like and what skk7a looks like. 2 videos. The one in your video is a skk7a. . Sounds like amazon shipped you a 7a in an 8k box. Somebody likely bought an 8k and returned their 7a into the box (a cheap dishonest way to upgrade brackets when getting a new washer requires 8k as its compatible with older dryers)and amazon resold it not noticing the difference as they are similar. Go out by 8k from samsung or best buy and make sure you have correct one. Using a 7a with 1 screw where an 8k is required with 2 screws is very dangerous. Samsung machines vibrate a lot and vibrate more as they get older. Also if dryer screw is not tightening either your bracket or dryer hole is stripped. Maybe a miniature plug or modification could help with that. The holes on these samsung washer and dryers strip easily do not use drills.
Of the 2 sets of brackets that were included these were the only ones that remotely fit. It is possible that they sent the wrong brackets entirely. But at the end of the day the dryer is remaining mounted on top of the washer without shaking off. Lol. So I’m happy about that at least. Lol. Thanks for your input:)
I have the same issue. The screws that came with the Samsung kit, one fits perfectly, the others are too small. So frustrating.

If you can manage to get at least one screw in the washer and one in the dryer you should be good. It worked for me. Drill at your own risk.

You have to use the shorter fatter bracket that comes in the kit. You are using the wrong brackets.

Just fire some self tappers in there.
They have another set of brackets for the washer and dryer machines for samsung and fit right with no problem make sure follow the instructions

You are using the SSK-7A bracket. The kit #SKK-8K will come with both bracket styles (both 7A & 8K), as long as the kit comes from SAMASUNG!
Well....We were using the correct bracket (8K) however, as my video described, it was not correctly designed. Alas, we have not had any issues with it. If I do I will add a few more screws:)

Actually the right brackets. Just didn’t align with predrilled holes...the other brackets didn’t fit at all either. But I’ve had no issues with instability
Yes it's the wrong brackets. Use SKK-8K instead of that SKK-7A stacking kit.
@@edandg I bought the same set off Amazon, they say it's compatible for my set but like you it doesn't match up. I bought the official set off Samsung website and it matches perfectly. Shipped free, 40 bucks
I wish I would’ve gone that route. But it is actually working well. 2months of laundry so far. No crashes. Lol.

The kit now comes with two brackets incase you have the older design of machines or newer design which the holes have changed. There is a youtube video explaining and completely solves the issue you speak of in your video. Check it out.
Yes. Unfortunately neither set of brackets worked. I should have explained that better. At least the dryer hasn’t fallen. Lol. So far so good.
Just move the brackets over an inch or 2 and drill new holes. There is nothing to worry about when drilling into the dryer because that low down there is nothing to drill into inside the dryer. As for the washer, it has a top cover that I would drill into instead of drilling into the cabinet because there are components you can drill into inside the cabinet.
You can only hit air if you drill into the cover.
I will if it starts giving me issues. so far so good though:)

If you can at least get the one screw in each side of each appliance you will be good. I’ve had no trouble. Of course I wish I could all

You have the wrong brackets. I purchase the same stacking kit from Lowes (in a Samsung box) and it comes with two set of brackets, the one you show and a second set that lines up perfectly with the holes on both the washer & dryer. Also comes with the correct screws (larger) for the washer. You mentioned your purchased the kit on Amazon, which must have been an aftermarket kit that did not include the alternative brackets and screws (common problem on Amazon). Buyer beware.

The kit comes with 2 types of brackets. 4 brackets in total. If it didn't, you bought the wrong kit. This is a poor video.
Already addressed the different brackets. Others have had the same issue. Thanks for watching though.
