Seeing Yaki wander around Hoenn with worse sense of direction than Leon from S&S while Jacob’s over on his game navigating every cave and gym like they’re the streets of his own neighborhood was honestly one of the funniest parts of this whole challenge to watch

In terms of the actual fights she was doing pretty good, definitely! It's too bad she wasn't that familiar with the map.

CJAY actually had such a solid roster, I feel like his speed running instincts got the better of him by him rushing into fights without leveling to the cap and/or planning.
It took over a year, but Captain Kid has finally redeemed himself from the Onix incident

I love how Cj's fight against Flannery was spread throughout the video so it just randomley cuts to one of his pokemon dying
cj struggling throughout the whole thing, yaki always being lost and needing jaiden to guide her, jacob sweeping until falling short at the very end, boats commentary with that sick burn about the phone numbers, and kidd pulling through to victory, every perspective was brilliant and it was so fun to watch it unfold live

I love how the entirety of this tournament can be summed up with Jacob and Kidd competing for first place with Failboat analyzing them from a distance. while CJ blunders his way into a wipe, Yaki gets completely lost in the world of Pokémon and Jaiden is somewhere in-between them.
The editing on this video is absolutely amazing. The way it switches between everyone's perspectives was so smooth and I was never confused about what was going on, banger job! Also the getting lost gag was great every time
So for those who werent there, as for the others, Yaki and Boat actually tied with Jacob with dying on Drake - for third. This is because Jaiden actually got 2nd overall, dying on Wallace with the worst Jaiden luck ever seen. So Kidd was literally the only one to beat the nuzlocke

Makes me realize just how unforgiving many of the gym battles were in this game. I absolutely love Gen 3. Some of the coolest designs in the series, all in a game that will seriously kick your ass if you're not ready for it. Iconic.
The Champion is also a damn unexpected nightmare if you aren't bringing enough type advantages and don't overlevel. No joke, Wallace legit gives me better battles in vanilla Emerald runs than Cynthia ever did.
Never got the Cynthia hype. Monotype leaders always gave me more problems since you only have one or two counters compared to mixed where you can counter everyone.

@@Utopia7281 Like I said you tend to only have 1 or 2 counters in your team. Those go down it gets a lot harder. Like if wallace use ice attacks to take out your grass user and use wishcash on your electric. In more recent games it is probably not as big of an issue as you have a lot of pokemon learning moves of other types. If you want to know the pain of monotype I'd advise trying pokemon reborn. I have never been more afraid of a cradlily in my life.

@@Salvador-312 Mirage Island? It's a location in RSE that only spawns when the ID of one of the Pokemon in your party matches a random number that is generated daily. The odds of it happening with a full team of 6 is about 1/10923, which usually means that the majority of players have never actually seen it. So for it to happen on stream during a race is absurdly lucky

Capt. Kidd did extremely well, utilizing his team and coming real close with Jacob. Tho Jacob and Jaiden did surprisingly well as usual. Kinda felt bad for CJ and Failboat tho.

I loved all the random cuts to the map whenever people were confused about where to go
Imagine you're an ordinary trainer, about to challenge the gym. But suddenly, you see a gigantic Italian plumber with a red cap riding a bike frantically, shouting about something regarding "chat, and "discord." After which, he goes twords the next city. You then see a pop star, a pink blob, a kid with a red cap, a garchomp, and a squirtle do the exact same thing, with varied degrees of panic, all on bikes, and all huge.
Imagine being Flannery and getting death threats from Hatsune Miku for fainting most of her pokemons

Cj repeatedly dying to Flannery was the highlight of the video for me, just the jump cuts to his pokemon getting ohko'd was hilarious
God this was an intense race. There were so many different tactics used in the race that I felt I was watching multiple UA-camrs vs 1 Speedrunner.

As just a super casual Pokémon fan, this was extremely entertaining to watch, especially since I only know the first 3 gens haha Hopefully we see this format again with new players!
Honestly even with the drama regarding the one member in this group recently (Which don't get me wrong their actions are reprehensible) , this video is still one of my favourites from this channel. One bad egg doesn't spoil this good bunch. Hopefully this video stays up for years to come!

Okay but real talk, during this stream I was switching back and forth between Jacob and Jaiden. Jacob had his glorious icarus moments, and then Jaiden going back and forth with Yaki was absolutely delightful, I loved their combo of casual conversation and high stress panic when they were getting into tough situations.

I had this exact same idea recently without having seen this video only instead of a draft, each Pokémon caught locks it out from being caught by anybody else, and at the end, have a tournament with your seed being based on how quickly you beat the E4. Would be crazy

In defense of Yaki's original pick of Chikorita. Chikorita isn't bad, Johto's just not friendly to grass type starters. Put literally any grass starter in Chikorita's place, and they run into the same problems as the guy

I LOVE the Zelda Skyward Sword music over this (this was the music that played while Link was flying on the loftwing around the sky)! As a kid, I used to love watching my dad play this game, and helping him out with the puzzles and being so invested in the storyline. Such NOSTALGIA, it's making my tear up!

Adding a race to a Nuzlocke is a great way to amp up the challenge. In a lot of them, if you plan around a handful of encounters you can usually rely on grinding to handle a lot of battles, but without the ability to just grind your way into overleveling everyone, it makes your choices really carry a lot of weight.
Jan's reaction video to this is going to be 19/10.

Anwering your question of the begining Alpha all the content, humor, edition and company you put in your videos makes your channel specially fun to watch. Do whatever your heart says and the result will be the same. And thouse who are in the video too. Keep it up guys!
This idea on a point system would take it to the next level. Something to keep the people farther behind interested enough to finish the game and still have a chance to win. It seemed clear at Flannery that only a few people even had a chance to win because of knowing where to go rather than team and battle strategy.
