I sent this video to Marc Ferrari himself. He watched and replied back to me! He enjoyed it and thanked me for the kind words. He also said that all of my details in the video were pretty much correct. Thanks Marc! 🤘
Cool story. Especially asking you to audition based on a photo. That's awesome. Thanks , exciting memory.
BTW I once auditioned for Dokken. I was playing some sweet licks with my Legs Paul. Dokken was so impressed, he began singing, "You're the one! You're the guy!" as he was pointing at me.
The alarm clock rang and woke me up...
LOL
I remember the day George Lynch called me. I looked at the Caller ID and felt it couldn’t be right. I had ordered stuff and it never came, so I dropped an email. He called to apologize and let me know he was sending some extra stuff. Great day!
Awesome!
As your sister I’m so blown away how I never know some of these stories even after our many 10 hour road trips together 🫣 loved this memory 💙
Maybe I told you and you forgot. It's been 30 years.
Everything comes in full circle.
Love these awesome stories. Keel is a name that I haven't heard in many years. Thanks for sharing brother!
I met Doug Aldrich when the Dead Daisies were dropped off at the wrong hotel in Tampa a couple of years ago. He was such a down to earth person. Glenn Hughes was there, but i was completely intimidated by him. He seemed pleasant enough. That was an awesome day, followed by seeing Eric Clapton that evening. I just started watching your channel. Take care.
Also Roy Cathey who took Oni place in COLD SWEAT has a band called THE FIFTH which is on now Ron Keels new record label RFK.
Yeah, we all had hair. Losing it happens to the best of us brother, it's all good brother. Stand tall, you're in the string section.
Listen to your story you remind me that in July 1992 l was in L.A. with my parents and l was there to buy my 1992 Gibson LP Standard at L.A. Music store...that guitar Is still my N.1 and has a particular story to tell👍👍👍 well done Richard.cheers from Italy
Thanks!
That was friggin’ Awesome 🎸⚡️Marc 🏎️🌩️⚡️
Thanks!
What a great experience! Thanks for sharing.👍🏼
Thanks for watching.
Oh Man.. That is really Cool.. Thanks for sharing that story !!
Glad you enjoyed it
Very cool story and that was a great pic of you from back when. Wasn't it something when we all had "hair" in the old days....
I miss that hair
I walked the Fender Factory with him and Don Solo! He was really cool and his maserati was awesome!
Marc is the coolest!
That's a pretty cool story dude! Would.have never guessed
Thanks
Such a great story.1989-1993 was a shift to the alternative. t.r.
Indeed it was. And unfortunately for me, I arrived in Los Angeles in 1989. I never had a chance! lol
I came out to Hollywood from Colorado to see M.I. in 1993 and met Craig Goldy of Dio.He saw the fire in my eyes he said, and ended up having me move out to LA.I studied guitar and recording under Craig Goldy for the next year and a half!Tone Raven-gtr/Voc We Are The Black Things.I'm still in Hollywood! All these break-out stories are real!
Is this the guy who played on Wayne’s world? In Tia’s band?
Danny Gill an awesome teacher from the Musicians institute teacher and he was in a band called Hericane Alice - played with him too. He was the guitarist in Medicine Wheel. Fantastic teacher and a phenomenal player. Those guys know how to wail!
What a time to be alive dude and adverts like that floating about and you were right there in LA. That’s awesome!
Yes he was in Wayne's World (2 I think). Yes it was a great time, but if I had just been there like 5 years earlier things might've turned out different.
Steelheart also released their debut album in 1990, it was a great year!
yep
Cold Sweat was awesome!!!!!
Cool story but did you forget the name of that singer who took Onis place in Cold Sweat is Roy Cathey!?The best da$# singer you have ever listened to today. Cold Sweat recently had their 30th anniversary on the MORC rehearsed for 5 hours the day before and blew everyone on stage in Florida preparty in 2020 for MORC the very next day. They had recently did another show for MOTM this year. To this day Roy Marc and the guys are like brothers.
Of course I didn't forget the singer. But I didn't want this to be a 45 minute video giving every detail, so it was just a brief recap of events that led to me meeting up with Marc. Roy is a fantastic singer.
A buddy I grew up with got a phone call from Wendy Dio back about 15 years ago because she heard some of his music somehow and invited him to audition for Ronnie. So he went out to L.A. and auditioned, Ronnie actually was going to offer him the gig but Ronnie wanted some crazy contract deal where my buddy would have to give up 30% of his earnings for the rest of his life.. He got a lawyer involved to try and negotiate but Ronnie got pissed and called him an amateur a**hole and that was that...
Unfortunately, Ronnie is famous for being unfair to his musicians. It's why Vivian Campbell and company all left. He kept promising to give them songwriting credits and pay them fairly after "the next album", and that next album never seemed to come. From what I remember, I think Viv said he only paid him like $100/week, and nothing for songwriting, recording, touring, etc.
I'm glad your buddy rejected that "offer." What a joke. Vivian Campbell has talked a lot about getting screwed over by the Dio camp.
yep, I read similar stories about that too. Ironically, he was always accusing Ritchie Blackmore of similar behavior. lol just a side note, I was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before covid hit. I was looking around, of course, and noticed the handwritten music for Dio's "Holy Diver" or "Last in Line" (can't remember now but it was one of those two songs). The notation was all done by him in beautifully written musical notation just like a classical composer would have done. It was amazing and kind of shocking because I never realized he was a "schooled" musician like that...Apparently, he had been in the band in high school and was taught by very good teacher (obviously). Rock on🤘
Nice! I had a guy jammin in my studio that tried out and jammed with slipknot. He was OK. He Played other people songs great but couldn't come up with his own material. Thanks Richard Pitt Shredder
🤘
Cool story!
🤘
Cool story, I had the Keel stuff on vinyl.
They rocked
Hi, top, danke, Gruß Siggi 👍🔔🎹
thanks
Rowan Robertson was so good, I figured he would have longevity, yet Violet's Demise seem to be the demise of Rowan's career
Yeah he never really went anywhere after Dio.
It's actually not all that out of the ordinary to get called based on a photo. He probably wanted people who had the right look, then would consider the musical compatibility out of that subset of people.
I had the look!
Ive never tried out at all. Hahahahahahahahahhaha
This is one of the few auditions I ever went to.
damm! such a nice hair.
I wish I still had it!
Cold sweat?
Did he give you a ferrari though? 😂😂
Yes he did!
How can any company sue you for using your own last name!?!?
