Fun fact, Daniel Burnham was the urban planner for Baguio and the unfinished center of Manila back when we're still a US Commonwealth. If I'm not mistaken, he also designed Chicago or some parts of it. If you've been to Manila in Rizal Park, you'll see neo-classical buildings (same architectural style as the White House). the intention is to create an administrative center but they weren't able to finish it due to the war and the eventual independence of the philippines from The United States. Now, both cities are suffering from lack of urban planning. lol. Btw, you should've visited Sagada while you were in Baguio. That place is immaculate.
Many of those who were in SM are university students who spend their break times there because they just cross the street from school. You actually took a video of the University of the Cordilleras when you were talking about the stadium behind.
Wow…this video is fascinating 💙 Haven’t been back since 1994. You bought the bananas (saba in Tagalog). I prefer to eat it cooked like in turon or banana cue. The expensive banana is lakatan and imo tastes better and sweeter. The banana girl is so sweet. She asked you if you wanted her to peel it for you. She pointed also the piece of banana on your face 🩷 Btw, after the 2 months visa extension you will have to get an ACR and it’s good for one year. I don’t remember how much it cost me? Safe travels Kevin 🇵🇭🙏
Thanks, its good to hear that you found it interesting! ❤️ Yeah I think this banana will be better cooker surely.. Yes lakatan is nicer for sure for raw consumption I completely agree. Haha she was sweet and nice indeed! Love to meet friendly nice people. Yeah ACR, but I don't know what its good for.. It cost something like 4000P, but I don't think I will get it this time. I think I don't wanna pay that extra cost, I will just stay 2 months at the time.
The regular visa approval here is 90 days that is the minimum offered by the immigration of the Philippines after 90 days prior if you want to extend your visa before your 90 day visa expired 😊
The original flag rate for taxi is 35 pesos, but then there’s an increase of 15p after pandemic, the taxi meter of your 1st taxi ride was not calibrated to 50p so he asked you extra 15 as he mentioned his taxi meter was not calibrated means not updated to current flag rate

@@Kevin-Travels Philippines was a colony of the US since the 1900 so burgers were introduced by them. In Baguio, we had the Military base Camp John Hay where we also had burgers made in USA.
Its busy coz that is the center of many municipalities nearby, Student flock in the city for schooling, And it is the summer capital of the Philippines.
Hello! New subscriber here :) Another thing you can try is the Goodtaste Restaurant (no other branches here in the PH, only here in Baguio). It's located just behind burnham park. Enjoy your stay here sir, I enjoyed watching your videos 🤍
burgers and shawarma are popular since there are so many students in the city there are many schools around the city where other students from different places go and study in Baguio. Reason why there are many people plus tourist Baguio residents only come out to buy stuffs and prefer to stay at home
Kevin, You need to cook those bananas you bought since it might not get digested easily when eaten raw. Add some brown sugar if you fry it. Or you can simply steam or boil it.
Haha I wish I have kitchen, I would play around more😁 but they were okay raw, didn't cause issues on stomach, but texture was not as pleasing as normal bananas
What hotel did you stay at? Cos me and the wife spent spent 2 nights in Microtel it was pretty good.I thought Baguio Imigration Office was in Wagner Road Military Cut -Off??
I am a legit Baguio boy. Unfortunately, I had to leave the country in the early 90’s. I can tell you the reason why burgers are popular in Baguio is that because it was founded by the Americans. I think that says it all. As for Shawarma, in the 80’s there was an influx of dentistry and medical students from the Middle East (Lebanon, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, etc.). They do have an excellent Dentistry program at the University of Baguio, and Medicine at the Saint Louis University. Some local businesses started offering mid-east cuisine to this particular student population. I remember the first Shawarma stand opened at the ground floor of the Maharlika building, and there was always a long queue of these students. Overtime, it also became popular with the locals as well, maybe because it is affordable and fast food. You have to know that students make up about 80% of Baguio’s population as it is the educational center of the Cordillera Administrative Region, so any student-friendly offering is mostly a hit. Baguio residents are known to be honest people. I’m glad they’re maintaining that and leaving a good impression with tourists. Enjoy your stay in Baguio! ❤

Sana all ! 😂😂 but idk if i like the cold weather countries coz I can't bear it yeah
re: pomelo, a lot of pomelo in Northern Luzon is sour or bitter so when it's somewhat tasteless and a bit sweet then they say it's sweet but they won't hold a candle to pomelos from Mindanao which are really sweet

Dippig banana is the one we use for turon and bananaque. You can eat it fresh or fry it. Every time I'm in the Philippines, I have fried dippig banana with rice and sunny side up egg for breakfast😋😋😋😋
That breakfast sounds like real breakfast of champions 😁👌🏼
Great vid, just subscribed broski! At the rate of you exploring, you can be my tour guide when I visit lmao!
Haha, are you Filipino?😀 Thanks for subbing bro🤗
About half population of Baguio is students during school days. During long holidays, students have their vacation and tourist flock the city.
Everyday it has tourists. Weekend tourists more and more and more.... never ending tourists
Yeah I noticed a lot of students, but also shocking how busy the streets were in main areas..
@@AndiditLove Yes, It seemed to me too. No matter if weekend or not. Always a lot of people on main streets.
Agree, I am from Baguio, most people on the streets are students from other provinces and tourists.
I am from Cabiao Nueva Ecija...enjoy your vacation there in Baguio City sir...we go there in February next year to watch the celebrations of Panagbenga...

I miss that City. We were there last June to September and the cheap burger where you bought the first time, my boy love to eat from that bakery/canteen. I saw my nephew with his family as well in this vlog of yours. I suggest you go to Itogon for hiking or somewhere in LA Trinidad like Yangbew trail. Maybe visit Camp John Hay as well. I am watching from Alberta Canada.

I hope you always have a nice stay in the Philippines. The beaches are the famous spots there. Sadly, it's monsoon season. But there are a lot of things to enjoy.
Yes beaches are great😁soon to explore more of that, when does rain season finish here?
The rainy season will end next year, probably in March.
@@Kevin-Travelssometimes monsoon ends on by December.
Hopefully, it should be over before the new year starts. Oh, you should also watch the New Year's fireworks in Manila 🙂 either BGC, Rockwell, or Ayala has a nice view.
@@geoffhere2323 There's northeasterly windflow which is the onset of the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) but it is not officially declared by PAGASA yet. This monsoon usually ends by the last week of February or the first week of March.

I was honestly surprised to find out this was only your second video! As a Filipina-American who wants to move to the Philippines one day, your videos have been pleasant to watch. ✨
Thank you so much!🥰🤗
Did you grow up in US or in Philippines?
I always love to hear when people say they enjoyed watching, makes my day❤️
@ I grew up in the US, but my mother would always bring me with her to the Philippines during my childhood. 💕 She was from Pampanga, so we spoke Kapampangan, but I’m trying to relearn Tagalog now so whenever I do move to the Philippines I could speak fluently to our countrymen. ✨
I appreciate you for asking! ☺️
@@DoutzenDilanI’m originally from Tarlac and I speak the same dialect as you.
Explore every corner of BGC, Makati business district, Entertainment City area in Parañaque city like Okada Manila, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, Parqal Mall, Mall of Asia. 🥰
That's a great list! Appreciate it🥰
@@Kevin-Travels surely people will watch you if you come to those places. 🥰
Woah so much knowledge in this comment! Thanks for sharing knowledge 🥰
Many of those who were in SM are university students who spend their break times there because they just cross the street from school.
You actually took a video of the University of the Cordilleras when you were talking about the stadium behind.
Oh yeah that's cool, Baguio seems to be busy with students 👍🏼😊 love the vibes
Go Ifugao stone Kingdom... also, Camp John Hay
Good recommendations, next time😊👍🏼
Wow…this video is fascinating 💙 Haven’t been back since 1994. You bought the bananas (saba in Tagalog). I prefer to eat it cooked like in turon or banana cue. The expensive banana is lakatan and imo tastes better and sweeter. The banana girl is so sweet. She asked you if you wanted her to peel it for you. She pointed also the piece of banana on your face 🩷
Btw, after the 2 months visa extension you will have to get an ACR and it’s good for one year.
I will be there next year in the Summer my wife is from Baguio, i miss my family and Baguio.
Awesome, Baguio is great place🥰
that banana is actually a cooking banana it's called Saba in tagalog. saba is main ingriedients in some local desserts.
Yeah from flavor I understood it's turon ingredient😁
You should go to session again on Sunday because it will be closed to vehicles and a lot of activities and food stalls you can try.
Cool, maybe next time🤗
OMG what a beautiful place, what a wonderful world amazing baguio city ph..😮😅
Exactly! Amazing Baguio🇵🇭❤️
The regular visa approval here is 90 days that is the minimum offered by the immigration of the Philippines after 90 days prior if you want to extend your visa before your 90 day visa expired 😊
Yeah, I had 1 month with entry and one month extension. 👍🏼
Yeah! I asked second driver because it was different, I was thinking is it because of the bigger car

Thank you so much Kevin for visiting Northern Philippines. Baguio is my beloved City! ❤❤❤ I hope you enjoyed visiting in Baguio. The Summer Capital of the Philippines.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching, I really enjoyed staying in Baguio even though weather was rough at times😁
@Kevin-Travels Yes that is the saddest part because before we have a great cold and sunny days. But this year is terrible we have alots and lots of typhoon coming. As Im typing this message comment as this very moment, It was raining hard the typhoon is here in the city. More Power!!
I am from Baguio and growing up there, we used to eat at tje City Bakery (if it's still there) burgers. They were small but very delish. Watching from the US.
Oh cool! So burgers been in Baguio for long time 😁 Haha cool, all the way from US. What state?
@@Kevin-Travels Philippines was a colony of the US since the 1900 so burgers were introduced by them. In Baguio, we had the Military base Camp John Hay where we also had burgers made in USA.
@@pedithnagali1857 Oh right! Okay that explains a lot. That's best answer so far why burgers are so common in Philippines!
Its busy coz that is the center of many municipalities nearby, Student flock in the city for schooling, And it is the summer capital of the Philippines.
Yeah that makes sense, but usually with smaller places you don't expect that😁 but yeah Baguio streets are lively

Thanks for recommendation! Im glad you enjoyed ❤️🤗
burgers and shawarma are popular since there are so many students in the city
there are many schools around the city where other students from different places
go and study in Baguio. Reason why there are many people plus tourist
Baguio residents only come out to buy stuffs and prefer to stay at home
Oh right that makes sense, quick meal for students. So most people on the streets are tourist you would say?
You should've tried the green color banana,...
It is green in color but it is ripe
Oh really😁 Then i should have surely
I like your vlog bro hope your youtube channel grow
Go to cebu city bro oldest city in the Philippines
Oldest city? Cool, going soon! 😁 What should I do in Cebu? Thank you for your blessings 🤗🥰
@Kevin-Travels Oh I see. Enjoy them as much as you can!
Burgers particularly in Baguio are cheaper than those in Manila coz veggies used in them were locally grown. From Ilocos Sur, Philippines 🇵🇭
Oh that's cool! Yes Baguio burgers are 🔥
What hotel did you stay at? Cos me and the wife spent spent 2 nights in Microtel it was pretty good.I thought Baguio Imigration Office was in Wagner Road Military Cut -Off??
I actually stayed in Hostel, was nice. But if with wife I wouldn't stay there haha😁
This is your other channel, now you will see how many Filipinos will subscribe to you, it is better to have this channel in your 1st day.
Yes my new channel, I do appreciate all the support🥰❤️
Wow, thank you! that is such a awesome comment. So much information and it really explains how burger and shawarma got so popular. It is best explanation I got so far explaining popularity of shwarma in Baguio. Appreciate you for sharing your knowledge here to us🥰❤️
