(There are some post-1980 bits in this--the places where the soldiers are wearing BDUs--but I have not been able to find a completely original version on UA-cam. The Army's recruiting campaign of the late 1970s had been based on the idea that "Today's Army Wants to Join You." Wimpy. This one was much better. And things were looking better in general, as Ronald Reagan had defeated Jimmy Carter in the presidential election of the previous month.
And what's good about that? Reagan grabbed credit for getting the hostages in Iran released, when it was Carter who worked tirelessly to get them freed, even after he had lost the election. He didn't care about credit, he just wanted them home. Reagan on the other hand, was quick to pat himself on the back.
It seems like all of the Soldiers were wearing uniforms of different time periods. There is a female Soldier wearing "Chocolate Chips" in the background.

Graduating basic in 1987 was the first time hearing this song. they need to bring it back and add another verse to modernize it.
The song doesn't need to be modernized honestly. It sounds amazing as is. The song just needs to be brought back to fruition.
