DDD now has had more time under the spotlight ,not as a top tier deck but a solid T2 deck that Will probably be very good for a long time,in the end they also got the respect and the ending they deserved and i'm really happy about it
We're now in March of 2022 and D/D/D is one of the hottest decks of the format, what a comback!
But now D/D/D is back even if it's as a rogue contender. It turns out there is always light at the end of the tunnel

D/D/D was my first deck I wanted to learn competitively. Sucks the deck got screwed by the structure deck's delay, coming out just before Raging Tempest, and master rule 4.
Yea and i tried to fix the deck with the new high executive monsters but master rule 4 kinda cemented that wont work
Well... we were able to perform 3 card 2 negates and 4 card 3 negate combos with summon sorceres and it was even more consistent when in MR3...but know she is also gone
the thing annoyed me on master rule 4 is the pendulum card placements(1st and 5th zone.

My edition to this video because a lot wasn't said ... probably because he hasn't really played this deck ...
D/D/D is/was a very consistent 3/4 card combo deck. It has as mentioned in the video kepler (who is searchable by one for one) and gate which search any card in the deck. Furthemore you are/were able to run draw cards like desires and allure consistency. If you really wanted to you could also run where arf thou? to be able to search your level ones since you have a lot of them (kepler, lamia, necro slime). But you do not really need it because you have cards such as copernicus who is/was able to subsistute for different combo pieces. Even after the board was broken in Master Rule 3 there you summoned Crystal Wing, Siegfried and Number 38 this deck still has/had great recovery because of all those countinous "spells" which you run which you could use during the next turn such as ragnarok with monster reborn, thomas who is an oafdragon for D/D/D and of course gate and swamp for more searching and fusioning. Also because the D/D/D summon themself easily from the GY you could well .... easily summon a board back with a lot of beatsticks and run for game. The problem was as said zodiac was just better at making destruptions and had a better recovery. Maybe D/D/D could have gotten a top even in Zodiac Format ... if somebody would have mixed it with zodiac... and before somebody says: "But D/D/D doesn't have the extra deck space for it." This is true for a person who hasn't played this deck for a lot but you really only need 2 Genghis, 1 Alex, 1 Siegried, 1 Crystal Wing, 1 Omega, 1 Kali Yuga, 1 Number 38 for your main combo or your break against backrow hevay decks ... such as zodiac or paleo anything else like coral dragon, formula synchron, tzolkin, T.G. Hyperlibrarian which would have left you with 7 Zoodiac Engine cards such as 1 M-X Invoker, 1 drident, 1 broadbull, 1 boarbow, 1 tigermortar and 1 emerald (which are only 6 but you get my point) which would have allowed someone to make drident and draw a card which would mean that you effectivly got a disruption for free.
But then come Master Rule 4 and D/D/D died the end ... no this is not how it worked. This deck was still able to work because the deck wants to reborn your stuff anyway from the gy ... but you still somehow needed to summon a link 3 and this deck is not good at making anykind of pluses whatsoever.
But then we got the first support card Electrum. This allowed us to play shrine for darkwurm search gate zero, summon kepler/copernicus go for electrum put in kepler or copernicus whatever you don't have pendel both summon starving venom who is a level 8 so we can overlay it for number 38 and obviosly copy electrum for some more pluses which was really cool ... but then komoney killed starving venom and killed this variant ...
Next we (I will ignore summon sorceres until I get to the special edition because I am from europe) got Linkuriboh and wee witch which allowed us for the first 3 card Crystal Wing + Siegfried combo since master rule 4. We can do this because we are/were able to summon linkuriboh with kepler which allows us to summon genghis in the MAIN MONSTER ZONE which is huge for obvios reasons which we can still do because non of thoe cards are banned.
Next up we got High Genghis who is another extender which basicly means we can use less resorces and get the same result. We finall got him ... after 1,5 years ...
Not to forget we got Summon Sorceres in the special edition which is huge for the reason that D/D/D got even more consistent then PRE MASTER RULE 4. How you may ask. Well the answer is pretty simple. You were able to start with Swirl Slime, Necro Slime and Vice Typhon for example and still get siegfried and Crystal Wing on board because summon sorceres was able to summon lamia from the deck. But powercreep wasn't kind to this deckand with all those removl options such as the knightmares it is a piece of cake to break the boards which this deck makes, aspecially since summon sorceres points up so knightamre cerberus is co-linked and is not destroyed by crystal wing. But even with it D/D/D was actually able to FTK with Summon Sorceres ... ofcourse it was the gallenduo FTK which it was able to perform with 4 cards and was somewhat consistent ... but died to every handtrap.
Next up I tested even the PK Link in D/D/D ... and suprisingly you were able to do some cute 3 card combo 3 negate boards or 4 card 4 negate boards. If you wanted to make something stupid you could also summon the Invoked Link and search invocation because guess what D/D/D makes with the slimes some fusion summoning which even allowed D/D/D to make caliga which only allowed the opponent one monster effect or none if you summoned azathot during the opponents turn which was bricky ... but still it was cool or OTK with the Fire Invoked because genghis is a fire monster. You were also able to use invoker to search invocation and use it to summon genghis with a fusion spell and have invoker for a link material ... Some of those plays are still possible even without summon sorceres ... but many died now ...
But let us not only watch into the past let us watch into the future there we are going to get needlfiber and gilgamesh. Let us start with needlefiber since he is easier to explain. Well... he gives you 2 zones ... and gives you a plus with his effect which non optimal Link 2 Monster previosly did aspecially if you summon glow-up bulb which you can use for a synchro with siegfried, omega ... or just a dump borrelsword OTK. Not to forget he tags out into a synchro tuner during the opponents turn which would allow D/D/D to make for example Crystal Wing, Siegfried, Number 38, Omega and tagout into T.G. Wonder Magician for 5 disrupptions with a 4 card hand which is reeeeeeeally cool for a deck which lacked disruption in master rule 3 or could have made 3 omega handloop, crystal wing and siegfried with 4 cards but as we know omega is at 1 so this is not going to happen.
So know about Gilgamesh and I complitly disagree with what Blade said depending on how you use it. Let us imagine we get him before Needlefiber. This Deck has 3 good first turn Bossmonster: Siegfried, High Caeser and Bright Armageddon and we are able to summon them. For those who don't know what Caeser does caeser negates a card or effect which includes to summon a card from anythere and you may think "well ... then am I going to do it" ... well we can negate Isolde, Mermaid, Dangers, sky striker Drones, Salamangreat gazell, Summon Sorceres if it would be still legal and many many more and White Armageddon protexts us from being targeted from cards as the knightmare, widow anchors, Miragestallio which leaves many decks with "only" the removel options of the borreloads ... but we can easily prevent the oppnent from doing so with our high caeser. We should look at gilgamesh not as a pendulum summon abuser but more as an extender because we are able to put in ragnarok who is a monster reborn and Chaos King Apocalypse which is another synchro material. Also it anables 2 card combos such as starting with 2 copernicus ans ending on gilgamesh, siegfried, dark contract with the swamp, ragnarok and a 3 or lower scale. Normally it would be a brick but with gilgamesh you get a good first turn board ... for D/D/D.
With Needlfiber you can summon him first and after it gilgamesh because gilgamesh says "for the rest of the turn" so we are able to summon siegfried during our turn and summon crystal wing or savage dragond ring the opponents turn and get free scales with the effect of gilgamesh which gives us a better board and better recovery or make more negates if you invest more cards (so instead of a 3 card combo 4 card combo or 5 ... depending on the hand). And if you really want to we can just summon gilgamesh out put out 2 scales pendel supreme king kaiser and just attack, attack, attack.
So overall ... even in Master Rule 4 there is hope that this deck can do stuff ... probably at most at a regional level but it will defintly not be dead or be crippled for ever under Master Rule 4

I never even though of putting apocolypse in the scale for extention, the new link is now starting to look even better then anybody originally thought.

This deck will always have a special place in my heart. I actually played before the structure deck and, here at my locals, using combos with Beatrice and glow up bulb plus, the DD cards as a rank 8 toolbox got pretty decent results, sadly, I never got to bring it to an event and for the time that I could have... Well zoodiacs happened. It's a shame, a deck so dependent on the player knowledge of his cards, to know exactly what to do and that punish you so hard for just a single mistake... Is also a deck that I cared deeply. Great video, you ear a new sub :)
That's the thing. It's not a beginner's deck, and needs actual skill to pilot well. Sad to see it like this.

I still religiously play D/D/D. In the casual setting you just summon D’arc and win with 15000 life points. Everyone screams “this deck is broken”... but I know the truth

D/D/D is the story of the deck that was ruined by Konami release schedules. And no, im not even talking about SD.
I started testing D/D after 2015 nationals and i was very impressed with the deck. It didn't do anything stupid like Infernity, Saber or Samurai, but it had one amazing feature: it could swarm incredibly well while still having amazing recovery options. Gate itself, Genghis and Caesar effects, Night Howl and Lilith and other things. And we were going to get them November 2015, and i say this: it would be at least T2 deck.
Nope. We had to wait over a year, to the start of 2017, to get almost every card that was crucial for the deck. By that time, regular D/D has changed too much, and most people were playing the yolo variant. That version was powerful, sure... but it gave up one of the main pros of the deck: a great recovery.
Nowadays, games are too short turn-wise for D/D's main strategy to work, and sadly, D/D cards arent suited for such metagame, despite seemingly being swarm deck. Kepler is too bad currently as it does nothing aside from searching Contracts, of which only Gate is played at 3, and some ppl don't even play any other DC. Gate is too slow in that you don't want to draw a second one, since it's hard OPT. Howl is too much crippled by the lack of good Extra Deck Fiends. Copernicus is to Hand Trap weak, and Alexander has no secondary effect for some reason. And playing pure swarm in an era of Evenly Matched, Sphere Ra and other cards isn't gonna work.
Oh, and let's not forget Konami's tendency to give D/D's unnecessary restrictions. Gilgamesh's "2 d/d" instead of "1 D/D plus something/fiend" is atrocious considering Samurai's link didn't get the same treatment (and there are more good generic warriors than fiends), but D/D Ark is just a kick in the face.
D/D ark is pretty trash, I think they were trying to make orthros and thomas more extendable but in doing so made the card extremely situational when it could of done more things besides being an extension from a destruction effect, not only that but it would be better if it could summon from the graveyard or even be better if it didn't half to be destroyed to get its effect, heck, ark is so bad that gilgamesh is miles ahead of it.
It seriously blows my mind at how much D/D/Ds got shafted by Konami! Literally, we only had one to two weeks of being broke, and then fucking Zoodiacs and Goddamn Master Peace Wyrms come out and steal the Spotlight! Fucking Bullshit man!
I busted my ass for a whole year studying D/D/D's, getting the right tempi down for most of their effects, had to wait for TWO of our player Maker Extra deck monster Alex and Ghengis to be released in tins! And they they decide to fucking bullshit us at the last minute!
Konami can fuck right off. Especially since they now Hoard Amazing cards for tournaments, and I feels that's going to happen to Needlefiber since WE NEVER got him in any packs, tins, or even Collection boxes!
Thank Konami, for showing how little they really care about their players. They can fuck fuck off and die for all I care!
P.S. is it just more, or IS THIS THE ONLY RIVAL DECK to get this much awful treatment!? Compared to Seto, Kaiser, Chazz, Alister, Fucking Jack Atlas, Kite, and Revolver!?

I am very dedicated ddd player and i am pretty sure that the deck will see some kind of success when both needlefiber and gilgamesh hit the tcg.
Needle fiber is trash in DDD. Gilgamesh is better. You have to use ragnarok and the scale 8 savant nikola with gilgamesh. Nikola is a forgotten card that will become relevant when we finally get gilgamesh.

Considering that D/D/D can drop a 3500 atk boss on the board, it's not that hard of a stretch to see. Plus their Freaking Powerful! Even High Alexander got 6000k atk on him when there's a full board of D/D/D's.

I personally love the new D/D/D Link Monster. Is it Meta? Hell no, is it a solid and consistent deck which is fun to play? Hell yes! D/D/D's have a lot of extra deck options and don't need to go into generic extra monsters to be good. I agree that the loss of cards like the Borrel monsters/Psyframe sucks, but they aren't really needed I find. At least in a fun lower tier way :)
really they just lack a monster negator , cause they have excess spell trap negation to reinforce the "avoid the contarcts" gimmick, but they forgot to give them a monster negation in the proccess . If they get that they can certainly work
@@spyro2002 the only form of monster negation is High Wave King Cesar, but that's only summon effect negation, so not really the same Haha. I think if we could a rank 7 monster negate we'd be pretty solid for sure.

Definitely one of your better videos! The d/d monsters always were a mystery since everyone knew them and briefly got hyped but I hardly saw play from them. This cleared it up for me.

played them ever since they got released because they were a good budget deck at the time. i miss when all you had to do was keep a few dark contracts and dárc on board
Man this deck has literally one of the most saddest stories behind it. I loved this deck being played in the anime and I loved playing it in OCG and in TCG formats. But real talk TCG D/D/Ds got completely shafted and in all aspects when we had hope we immediately got shut down by something new. Still has to be one of my top 5 favourite decks overall of all time still though
your so right, although links are starting to play nicer now but its really too bad that summon sarc got banned, that was one of the main extenders for the deck but i guess it needed to get banned.

Got the combo off with a saryuja version once; summoned like crystalwing, photon lord and siegfried with saryuja...all in all 3 negates...was still happy...opponent dropped sphere mode...during my turn flipped skill drain...lost against freaking malefics...legends say he is still laughing like a hyena in Lion King to this very day...

@@skippernolen5644 that was the first duel...He friggin main decked sphere modes and he had a single actual ra in deck...he was trash (well, he was playing malefics so...) and he lost the games after mine quickly, but I guess it worked out against me...somehow...
@@boraaksitozgun9912 You think the Phantom Knight engine could help? It's subpar, but it doesn't force you to make ending boards of 3+ monsters to survive.
As a heavy player of D/D/D before link summoning, I was amazed and it got me back into the game over ten years since I had originally started playing it. When links came out, I was devastated that one of my best decks would be now useless in the newer format and I couldn't pull off the same potential I had prior. And for a good time, I dropped the deck. However, coming back to it months later, I find that its still playable, but due to all the odds against it, it still doesn't match up to newer decks, especially with Dark Neostorm on the way.
But I don't want to give up on it.
I do not want it to be a dying cause, D/D/D's still have potential, but it would need a serious miracle for it to actually be playable with in the newer format and have its time to shine in the spotlight. D/D/D might be the forgotten best deck for most, but for me, its what got me back into YuGiOh, and I am not gonna give up on it.

Well... you were able to perform 3 card 2 negate combos (siegfried crystal wing) with summon sorceres and even with weird hands such as Swirl Slime, Necro Slime and Vice Typhon and also 4 card 3 negates which we did in master rule 3...but know Summon Sorceres is banned and we need to wait for gilgamesh and/or needlefiber
Links didn't kill it. Power creep and stupid restrictions on new cards did. And the fact we couldn't play full power D/D pre-SD in 2015 cus reasons.

I quit yugioh because I saved up a whole lot of money to buy 3x structure deck when it finally arrived due to delays links were announced all the pros at my local dont me not to waste my money. Rip my yugioh career and my favorite yugioh deck ever
well it isnt as bad as it seems cause gilgamesh effect activates on special summon not link summon. So you can link off gilgamesh then bring back the card mid combo with genghis, high king genghis(which we finally got), or ragnarok.

It did have a win condition early on. Make a board with crystal wing and ziegfried with vanity's emptiness set face down since Ziegfried turn off the effect on d/d/d player's next turn. The deck was the last straw for vanity's emptiness and it got banned at long last.

Ddd is my all time favorite deck. I keep trying to make it at least a little competitive, but now that summon sorceress is banned. It's just sad😭😭

There's enough extra deck to go into with D/D/D that cards such as crystal wing aren't even necessary. Gilgamesh is a fantastic addition to the archetype as it can utilise the extending play offered by the Ragnarok scale. It can also pendulum summon the materials used for the link summon in some situations simply because it sets a scale from deck. And even without Gilgamesh, we have the likes of Wee witch and zefra metaltron as generic links to help extend plays.
D/D/D had gotten screwed over by Konami so many times. Even now we are waiting on their link and needlefiber.
One year later and now it's in Duel Links.

It has been years now since I played but in my local scene when D/D/D released even pre lamia/siegfried I had great success with it placing consistently in weekly and bigger monthly events. I played it all the way to the release of links where my local scene died due to so many of our decks (many highly priced) not surviving the format change.
Huh, odd I still play it pretty good. In current format. And yes I mean pure d/d/d looking forward to the link finally releasing to use it at locals again
Absolutely and utterly loved this deck, and still my absolute favorite, so with that being said, kinda made me bit sad knowing the horrific fall of DDD
DDD was my first Build Deck, lol i spend so much money upgrading it(up to tournament DDD). yeah the new master rule(Extra monster zone and Pendulum placement) kinda put them in the Coffin. > later switch to Rokket Deck. (yeah i love Rival’s decks in Yugioh, i supposed to build Blue Eyes ended up building DDD instead maybe because it’s latest that time)
i still enjoyed playing it on Casual duel with my friends.

Can you do a series on Forgotten Best Decks? There are plenty of other decks that you could go over; Gravekeeper after STBL and pre-STOR, Airblade pre-Stratos limit, and Dark Matter Rulers pre-Dragon Ruler bans, to name a few.

Ddds are meant to be played in theme and they pop off to this day they have a 1 card combo that ends in a nearly unbreakable board and have great support with Thomas, Rage, Deus, and is one of the few decks that can be built purely in theme and decimate most competition definitely not the best out right now but can hold its own quite well and allure of darkness is a card that let's you draw 2 then discard a dark monster from your hand if you have necro slime or lamia or ghost then each of thoughs can extend into their own combos with slime being able to banish itself and another dd in your grave yard to fusion summon or ghost being able to pick a card in your grave and add another copy to the grave yard (second necro? Maybe a swirl slime that can banish itself from the grave to special summon a dd from your hand?) Or ghost if banished say with necro slime can put necro back in the grave yard setting up for next turn combo restart if board happens to get broken the deck is quite good at rebuilding with most cards have some sort of special summoning effect so don't sleep on ddd they are doing just fine( yes I fell victim to the grass, zoodiac, and then master rule 4 bombardment but after a few years ddd without heavy support never got any worst there's just more to contend with)
By the time they got the structure deck, it was too late. If it would've come out when it was supposed to, D/D/D would've dominated the meta
Also the do have pend. That can skill drains on pend. Summon. So something to play around with. But the deck does need more and better support if this is the only link we get

I just watched your video about D/D/D's and I had to agree, konami basically screwed it over. Right now, I'm working on a hybrid on D/D/D with the orcust engine. Its something at least I guess
Me and My friend were at a gamestop and they had this deck and a blue eyes deck at discount. So we got them, cause why not. We both had been out of yugioh for years. Took us like 3 months to actually open and play with them, haha. Funny, originally I was suppose to DDDs but we switch decks. He was better verse in all the new mechanics.
And then MR 5 happened
I wanted this deck to be meta so much. I loved opening 3-4 disruptions. Don't forget the structure deck got postponed, and yes I feel the same way about the link monster its not what we needed, and even by the time we do eventually get needlefiber it still wont be enough. Might do stuff on local level, but not much else.

Didn't D/D/Ds debut in the Arc-V anime in 2014-15? Yeah, they came to IRL too late for their own good...
The problem is EVERYTHING got delayed. The pendulum domination structure deck was severely late, whereas in Japan D/D was top-tier for several months if not a year.
Adding insult to injury, the deck didnt get High King Genghis until Soul Fusion, which is a crucial card for the deck's combos.
The deck is actually insanely popular in Japan because it had time to shine, but it doesnt get much attention in TCG regions because Zoo and Konami screwed it out of its chance to shine.

the deck hasn't really declined it's still decent tier 1.5 to 2 cuz it can easily set up multiple negates cuz of the endymion engine and the guard dragons

Gilgamesh is actually really good, its effect only locks special summons for the rest of the turn so you use it as an extender after you've summoned your Borreload Savage/Crystal Wing/38 to end off with Siegfried/High Caesar as your last negates.

Also should be noted that D/D/Ds did have time to cement themselves in the OCG, and it was definitely crazy. The main reason why it fell off in Link format isn't so much that they can't make Link monsters; they can, but they do need to be able to summon Genghis to a main monster zone yet. In this case however, it has a decent ending. It's still viable under master rule 5.

Overturned with joy, They look around and a see a small light very far ahead.With the only visible thing in the darkness being the light, They walk towards it.
Gilgamesh is actually a huge boon to the deck in the OCG where Needlefiber exists. D/D can get out 3 negates consistantly once you factor both Needle and Gilgamesh into the same deck

ddd shouldve been top tier longer but at the last moment they switched the printing order of the true dragons and ddd structure decks so that ddd structure deck would be printed 6 months later than expected, leaving an important combo piece (alexander) unsummonable for ages and leaving their release too close to rate

Sad story. DDD was the first deck in yugioh I really liked I learned so many combos and possible configurations. I always played it online. When the structure deck came out I saved up money to buy it. Right when it reached the game store, links were announced when the decks arrived. I quit yugioh that day. Rip my favorite deck ever
I feel like the link format and the extra monster zone should be used for face down monsters in the extra deck. I feel you should be able to pendulum summon your monsters face up from the extra deck regardless of what’s in the extra monster zone but that’s just me.
Also extra monster zone you shouldn’t be able to pen summon to the extra monster zone so you don’t start with 6 monsters.
Well once the DDD link monster for the archetype comes out, this deck can do what it used to do in fact even better than before in my opinion, yes i know it holds you back from going into omega or crystal wing, but is not as bad as you would think, now with Kaiser in their command with a monster that when it gets pendulum summon it negates your opponent's whole field, and it can potentially attack 3 times with 2800 attack to be able to otk on it's own. Also the deck has good level 4 monsters that can get stuff from grave or faced up on the extra deck and since it's level 4 you can go for rank 4 plays such as abyss dweler.
The deck is far from dead, and it will be raising again one day to meta i know it will.
The deck does have other win conditions besides this one, but yeah DDD all day everyday baby. Long live DDD being one of my favorite decks.
DDD was better than zodiac but yugioh is about popularity and fitness easier to play than ddd so people dont play it. DDD can compete with the current mets easily but again due to not a lot of non standard combos people play other decks. DDD is amazing and can play through several hand traps and doesnt really have a real blocking point
d/d/ds while being said to be a "not very versatile deck" and a "glass cannon" that just meant d/d/d players had to get more creative, d/d/ds could perform azathot lock when it was legal and with the right build and hand could definitely push through multiple negates, d/d/ds really did fall into the bad popularity game because d/d/ds didnt really have enough time to get expiramented on because after a little bit d/d/ds were able to perform 2 card combos which i think is the tipping point for most players, d/d/ds at the time had no 2 card combos, nay i think most people thought it was impossible.

personally I still love this deck and I feel like konami at least is trying to push for more pendulum relevance with it given. now we have d/d arc and d/d evil who aren't good for effects but have decent pendulum scales and now the new god/d/d card coming out that looks like a game ender so I still have some hope for it
