You used colour negative film for light meter testing. Great job xD. Color negative films are famous for their forgiveness of exposition errors. Back on the film era there was even simple disposable cameras with single not adjustable shutter speed and aperture. They work using this massive dynamic range of C41 film.

thanks for the advice. Looks like we have some more testing with B&W film to do!

@@kevikronicles E6 or reversal BW will be a real test, because reversal film don't forgive exposure errors. And in general: great idea! I wish next version will have active range meter, like on old compact AF cameras. This IR sensors should not be very expensive but might be a game changer for simple cameras without focusing aids.

That looks dope. I’m considering getting an old pentax or something, and this would be a sweet addition!

Please don’t get a Pentax spotmatic, for God’s love, please don’t. Reliability issues everywhere

Will this work on a rangefinder camera that uses a light meter that sets the shutter speed? I have the Canonet 28 and without a battery (and light meter) it is stuck at 1/30th shutter speed. Will it replace the built in light meter and revive the automatic shutter speed functionality?

The light meter doesn’t connect directly to the camera so it won’t automatically adjust your settings for you. If your camera with out a battery is stuck at 1/30 then you can set the light meter to shutter speed priority and lock it in at 1/30 then the meter will tell you what aperture you will need for a properly exposed image.
