The Geely Coolray Sport Limited is the latest variant of the Geely Coolray Sport, and it adds more convenience features to the already stellar 2021 Geely Coolray Sport. The 2022 MG ZST, on the other hand, is the newest top-spec variant of the MG ZS, which makes the MG ZS Alpha the middle variant now. In this Filipino Car Review, we will compare both of these value subcompact crossovers to see which one offers the better value. The 2022 Geely Coolray Sport Limited only comes in 1,000 units, which is still a lot. The MG ZS Trophy is a mainstay variant already in the local line up. The 2021 MG ZS Alpha used to be the value crossover best seller in the Philippines, but when the Geely Coolray arrived, it replaced the MG ZS as the sales champion. This video comparo will now put the 2022 Geely Coolray Sport Limited against the newly arrived 2022 MG ZST to see if its upgrades are enough to keep the 2021 MG ZS Trophy at bay. Both the 2021 Geely Coolray Sport Limited and the 2021 MG ZST offer a great value for money in the value subcompact crossover segment.

Looks: MG ZST stands out coz of its classy look that never gets old.
Height: MG ZST looks higher or bigger and thus a look closer to an SUV than Geely
Tech: Geely is more advanced in tech, but do you actually use it everyday?
Interiors: Simple, clean, leather, classy is a plus for me.
Space: Hands down for MG ZST
Driving: Hands down Geely Coolray
Price:MG ZST bang for the buck. No question about that

In my opinion I believe this should be tied as the GCR Sport Limited has better interior quality than the MGZST as it has Cooling Ventilated Seats and thicker top cover but overall still both are great Cars. Buy based on your heart's desire 😁.
Great comparo! The Japanese brands should shape up and make a fight against these 2. Value for money is the king now whatever the brand or wherever its origin.

In my opinion, both cars are pretty much identical specs-wise. For me, my decision will boil down as to which dealer provides the better after-sales package (eg. free PMS, warranty coverage/claiming, etc).
The clear winner here is the public since the entry of these value crossovers has offered us more choices and bigger/established brands are now answering to the demands of the market

Choosing between ZST, Coolray, and Territory. Ended up ranking ZST as numba 1 due to fuel efficiency plus brand reliability. Hopefully buying anytime in 2022.

yup. we sold our geely cool ray sport and bought the MG ZST Trophy. so far so good, in terms of price and fuel efficiency.
dapat sinama ung keyless entry and remote start(and its range) ng geely coolray which is very important for many drivers. di mona kailngan lumabas ng garage para i warm up ung sasakyan mo
Looking forward too if there can be a review comparo for subcompact cross after 2 to 3 years use. So that durability and maintenance cost can be factored in. Especially for us who can only afford 2nd hand or repo cars. Salamat RR tean!
I think both should get 5 points in tech. There are tech features that coolray has and that zst doesnt and vice versa. Objectively speaking even if zst has android auto and apple carplay, gcr has a better 360 camera and display, autopark, plus auto tailgate (even if you prefer one feature than the other, fact is both are offering great tech).
He balances both car dealers to be safe lol, but Coolray for the win for me.
If we base it on paper, I think both cars should have 5 pts on the tech and safety category. The built in dash cam of the GCR which also records the car speed and lights usage is a plus which the ZST doesn’t have. And you won’t always use the self parking feature.
But I think Mr Reygan based it on practicality so maybe that’s why the ZST gets 5 and GCR 4. Apple Carplay and Android Auto is so convenient and easy to use and becoming an essential feature nowadays. If MGPh even decided to put the MG Pilot system (Adaptive cruise control, auto stop function etc) and/or the I-Smart feature just like in Thailand and/or India then that will seal the 5 pts for the ZST.

MG is not a Chinese brand, only the manufacturer.
FYI po: MG was bought out by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation or SAIC motors since 2007 po.

@@markjavier8157 FYI, the big 4 car manufacturers in china are SAIC motors, Dongfeng, FAW, and Beijing automotive group. GAIC is not included which is the manufacturer of Geely. But Geely has more features than MG but performance base, it’s MG.

Are the roof rails of the Trophy actually functional unlike the Coolray's? A foreigner in China put a baggage roof rack on his Coolray and said it's okay as long as you don't go overboard with the weight, but I still don't think it's a good idea because it doesn't seem to be bolted on and there are no structural supports. How about the Trophy's?
I saw some mg zs here in cebu used the roof rack carried a lot of baggage. However it was the mg zs (without panoramic sunroof).

My bet won. I like both cars actually but I'm still a little aprehensive with dual clutch transmission because of bad experience. The MG ZST must be very good to defeat the hot selling Geely Coolray Sport Limited.
If only they didn't put those fake twin pipe garnishes... Trying hard to be sporty. Still, good value overall, especially with the dual air vents at the back and the bigger trunk space.
Putting a turbo engine in your car means that you should have a real dual exhaust in your car and not faux/fake exhaust

Based on my research (kasi I’m planning to buy soon. Choosing bet ZST, GCR, and FT) fuel efficiency (best to worst) are the following: 1. ZST, 2. GCR, 3. FT
Super gusto ko sana ang FT kaso marami ako nabasa na comments na binenta lang din nila kasi super laklak sa Gas.

The Geely Coolray/MG ZST rank high in terms of acceleration feel. In the premium mainstream segment, the offerings from Mazda and Subaru acquit themselves well.
If you don't mind diesel, the Kia Sportage GT is also quite peppy.
how about gas consumption?
Coolray pa din. the combination of engine and wet dct is way better than ZST. I can live without apple car play and android auto and the cooling seat would provide me more comfort tbh.
Coolray would be perfect if they just release all black interior and exterior in sports variant

Connectivity only works in Manila, out here in the province Apple car play and Android auto actually have little to no value..
In that case, even the qdlink of geely would be useless.
