I love the idea for the set, especially having Henry as he's the one who takes Percy away at the end of the story after Percy takes the plunge, and I also agree with the fact that Percy should be hauling more than just two trucks. My only critique is the layout. If they were going to copy the episode and not the book, then they should've used a left hand switch then a T-Switch however, if the set was going with the book, then they should've used a left and right hand switch along with a V switch, giving the siding that dock side look and allowing engines to shunt trucks on one of the sidings. The set should also incorporate a station as after all, there's a station at the docks beyond the junction to the sea. Lastly, if they were going to do either option, I wish they had the siding pointing out then in, otherwise, Percy will be taking a plunge the same way Thomas did in the Special Letter, but I guess they wanted this due to accessibility and spacing. If that's the case, the set should've included a suspension bridge to allow ships to enter at least. Lastly, I agree with the exhausted Percy face, but to really make this set complete, Percy should have Victor's Sea soaked decals.
The house and fence are curious inclusions until one remembers they and the breakaway buffers were the contents of the 'Thomas Comes to Breakfast' accessory set from the earliest years of the Wooden Railway system.
TBH that intro was probably my favorite youve ever done! I love the video and agree with the additions to make but a few trees and additional track won't hurt!
This is so cool! I've actually bought this set new in the box about 8 years ago and still have all the pieces and often thought about doing a review of it myself, but it seems you've already taken care of that lol
1:38 The Eight Famous Engines was my first railway series book that I owned. I got it for christmas when I was 7, but it's the version with the weird illustration cropping 2:14 so there were clickety-clack ramps! That would've made a better choice! Instead of the Breakdown train, I would've included an exclusive Sodor Bay crane boat, like in the actual episode
I got my Percy takes the plunge set new in the box for my birthday about three to four years ago totally worth every penny and instead of four grey troublesome trucks, put three of them and two troublesome brakevans.
This looks like a fun set for a kid and they can add more track to make the entire story and I barely have any straight track but I have lots of curve track so this is a fantastic set Thomaswoodenrailway
Yes, I absolutely agree with your thoughts on this playset! It may look bare in some areas, and it may not be executed right. But all in all, this set is a stunner! :-D
Do a discussion on all of your Thomas wooden railway signs not just the ones from your recent TWR collection, you also needed the signs from your sets as well
Another thing That would be nice for this set if Learning Curve made a Floating Crane Barge to lift Percy out. Rather akin to the Brio Bonnavista Barge from Theodore Tugboat.
I think the set is nice, however a few additions would make it better. Characters: Thomas, Henry, angry Henry, Percy, angry Percy, shocked Percy, sad Percy covered in mud, Sir Topham Hatt, Bill, Ben, and sad Bill and Ben. Rolling stock: 4 troublesome stone trucks, 2 milk tankers, 3 cargo cars with shipping crates, 2 box cars, 2 oil/petrol barrel cars, a bogie flatbed, the breakdown train, and 3 sodor line cabooses. Destinations: Knapford harbor, the quarry, the barrel loader, the roundhouse, 2 arched stone bridge, and the works. Accessories: a danger sign, a cargo ship, a Knapford harbor crane, and a tugboat.
Although it's an alright set for what it is, the prices people expect you to pay for said set these days is way more than it's worth, even for a mint in box version. It's small, doesn't contain anything really special or exclusive about it, and if it's not even complete, that only adds to my point. I recently did a review on the ERTL Tugs models and I also touched on the topic that people are charging outlandish prices for models which have been played with, and even more so for items mint in the package. People think they're sitting on a gold mine when in reality they're just trying to sell something that wasn't even that popular when it was released, hence why production was short...
Have ever considered using Take Along/Take N Play/ Ertl/ Adventures for the narrow gauge? Also I own something you don't own, the chocolate bunny box car. It's basically the Mr Jolly's chocolate box car but with a yellow roof and door. And it has chocolate bunnies inside.
The thing about the story sets is that they are the bear minimum. look at the James goes buzz buzz set: it’s missing the coaches and other characters like bill and Ben and duck. The Thomas and berries great race set: It’s missing Annie and clarabel and it has no track at all. This set is missing Henry and Thomas a few trucks. They are also a lackluster. There are sets out there with engine sheds and train yards, why couldn’t we get these or at least a few more stations sheds? If the story sets were more premium the I think they would be worthy of the “rare” title they’re given as well as being price gouged.
I'm kicking my self in the butt for not getting this set at a hobby shop that doesn't exist anymore it I pick up a bachmann deluxe thomas the tank engine set over it. I have been regretting this decision for the last 6 years.
There is something really quaint about these early sets that are basically just a collection of pre-existing items bundled together with a very basic track layout.
I want to join you on your quest on this series to improve this I want Thomas in the set and put a brake van in it also put Henry in it as well but I wish I had this set next video can you do the the men and the hills set next
Unfortunately, I don't have all of the necessary pieces to recreate The Man in the Hills Set right now, but it's on my to-do list if I ever acquire everything!
ThomasWoodenRailway do you have a big wooden railway Collection your lucky I only some wooden railway stuff but I collected a big Thomas that can move its eyes like Bachman I only as a kid were die cast Thomas toys and 1 tomy set and a hit toy company duck
Probably to reduce the price in hopes that more people will buy them. This set isn't like the Fisher-Price story sets from a few years ago with grand destinations and lots of track - the only reason it's called a story set is because it was based on a Railway Series story.
I didn't buy this set because I recreated it with pieces already in my collection. But I've seen incomplete versions go for $200+ on eBay and even $425 new in box.
I think this might be my favorite set; it’s simple, but packed with lots of rare stuff!
Agreed! If you're going to make a small set, put some desirable items in there so people want to buy it!
But is it the roundhouse set
I love the idea for the set, especially having Henry as he's the one who takes Percy away at the end of the story after Percy takes the plunge, and I also agree with the fact that Percy should be hauling more than just two trucks. My only critique is the layout. Thanks! Great to hear from you man! :)

This is such a beautiful set! Very difficult to find complete nowadays. Thanks for sharing! I’ve always wanted to review this set...
It’s nice to see you back with the discussions! I just got my first express coaches!
Very nice! Enjoy those coaches - they're awesome!
I was always facinated by this set.
with all the rare stuff in it. I wonder why Percy just has a normal expression rather than shocked or sad.

And the picket fence
the return of the set reviews? YES PLEASE! :D

I used to be really into Thomas when I was a kid, and this set was always the main one I wanted.
Well I finally figured out where my Wooden Railway breakdown train came from

Nice review, I really like your points on how the set could be improved.
Thank you! It's no use complaining about the bad things in a set if you don't offer a solution. ;)

They could've used a Sodor Bay cargo ship and just stuck the Brakedown Train on that.

There are buffers and not a ramp, yes he fell off the tracks definitely :)
Can O’ Beans but the buffers in the set are hard to break away compared to the episode
@@kevinwang97 yeah I was thinking about that but making it any other way, the buffers might get lost
