Cooking the Most Authentic Food with Locals in Senegal 🇸🇳
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 лип 2024
- Today I’m cooking the most authentic food in Senegal with locals, on a remote island in the middle of Senegal’s sprawling Sine Saloum Delta. On today's menu is Yassa, one of Senegal's most famous dishes, made with fish caught locally in the delta.
This travel vlog follows me on my journey into the heart of Senegal in order to learn how to cook with the Serer ethnic group, one of Senegal’s major ethnic groups. Serers are found in 3 countries in West Africa and are predominantly located in Senegal, particularly in the Sine Saloum region. I'm excited to discover more about their way of life.

Senegal's food is the best and I love you Senegal 🇸🇳 from Kosovo 🇽🇰
Yes! Senegal does have some incredible food. The seafood is sooo yummy 🤤
This is so professionally done! So great and informative. Felt like something that should be on television.
Thank you so much! Your words really mean a lot to me 😁
Lovely! I would love to visit Senegal at some point. I have a very good friend originally from Dakar and I heard so many good things about the country.
I would definitely recommend Senegal. It's a fantastic country with such rich culture and everyone is so friendly!
Cant wait for the next video. I really enjoyed this one especially when you interacted with the locals
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy the interactions with the locals as I love meeting local people and will continue to produce content like this 😊
wow. this is the third video about Senegal I have watched; they are great, informative and addictive. I started watching these videos because sometime in the future I might leave the UK to live in Senegal instead of my narrative country, Guinea-Conakry, part of the Fulani people. thanks
Thank you very much for watching! I am so glad you found my videos helpful.

Our time in West Africa is far from over. It's now time to cross the border into The Gambia and take a notoriously overcrowded ferry. You can watch this adventure here 👉 ua-cam.com/video/Mwu4f5Roz4o/v-deo.html
Lovely. I miss Senegal so much now 💖❤️💖❤️💖❤️
Thanks very much for watching! Senegal really is an amazing country ❤️
Hello again Ella. I am very happy to see your videos again. Spectacular as always, getting better. After that cooking lesson you can now introduce yourself to "Master Chef UK". Surely with this recipe you can succeed. Of course, you will have to practice before using knives and other kitchen utensils well. When you return to Tenerife, I will also teach you how to cook some typical things from the island. And if you want you will also learn to make paella (for that you have to cut a lot of onions and peppers) 😂😂😂😂.
In your video you not only transmit with your words the good people you have met, but also with the images. I wish everyone (anywhere in the world) were the same. We would live in a fantastic world.
A big kiss for you and a big hug for your fiance (or perhaps already husband).
It is wonderful to hear from you again, Ignacio! Haha, I will indeed have to learn to better use the knife 🤪 Oh, yes - I would love to learn how to cook paella. I do love a good paella! Thank you so much for your kind words. We are still fiances right now. I hope to organise the wedding soon but life has been so busy it has been postponed!
Thank you for sharing your experience in Senegal. Your video is lovely. ❤️🇸🇳❤️🇸🇳
Thank you very much for your kind words! I'm so happy you enjoyed it 😁

@@EllaMcKendrick haha hope to see you cooking better next time 😅😋
Hope i could have been your travel partner coz i wanted to have that food all by myself 😂
Hahaha! 🤣 I pray I improve too! I need to practise handling the knife better. You would have loved the food I'm sure!
@@EllaMcKendrick trust me, i was also bad at holding the knife but then i tried to be confident and less scared of the knifes and now I'm quite decent in cutting onions and tomatoes but not better than my mother... She's pro in it tho😬🤯
And yeah the food was tasty and i wanted to have some of it too ..
If you ever visit India then do cook for me... I know the possibility is 0.00001% for that to happen. Coz you may visit India but i live in a state which is not mainstream at all.. but my city surely will offer you great mountains, temples and rivers, etc.
@@rohit.chetry Practise makes perfect I'm sure! I'm glad you still have faith in my cooking abilities 🤣 India is definitely somewhere I'd love to visit but yes it is a huge country with so much to see!
Thanks!
Hi Rose, thank you so much for your support! You really motivate me to create more videos 😁 I cannot wait to share more from my trip to Senegal and The Gambia.

Hello Senthil! It has been a while since I have seen a comment from you. Thank you very much for watching! I have uploaded a couple more videos on Senegal. Have you not seen those? I’m a Senegalese 🇸🇳 and I’m currently in India 🇮🇳 😊
Hello Africa.❤❤❤❤🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Thank you for sharing the experience in Senegal! I am traveling there in a week. May I ask if I need to bring any documents in order to bring and fly a small drone in Senegal ?
Thanks for watching! I'm really excited for you. Which part of Senegal will you be visiting?
With the drone, it was actually really hard to find information online for what to do. Websites give conflicting information with some saying they are banned and others saying no permission is required as long as you fly sensibly.
After reading countless websites I decided to just bring it and flew it safely in remote areas (safely away from big towns / cities and people) in line with standard drone laws. I also have insurance for my drone. I personally didn't encounter any issues. This is the website I used for information: uavsystemsinternational.com/pages/senegal-drone-laws
However I'd recommend you take a look online and come to your own conclusions as I wouldn't want to misadvise you. This website looks like it has the most recent update on it, updated only a few months ago: drone-laws.com/drone-laws-in-senegal/ (although the links to the official websites don't work!)
The Gambia yes come to banjul
Come to gambia and come to banjul
Thank you very much for watching! I hope you will enjoy my next video which is on The Gambia 🤗
Yh I live in the gambia

Do you have the contact info for your guide in Senegal?
Of course! His name is Mika and the company is 'Trip Tour Senegal'. Email: triptoursenegal@gmail.com - Phone Number: +221-77-516-28-19 - I would highly recommend!
Is she not able to chop vegetables..at that age?😂 you have a long way to learn😂
I have dyspraxia which means I have poor hand-eye coordination and struggle with fine motor skills 😉 So no, no matter how much I try to 'learn' how to cut vegetables, I always struggle because of this.
To day is Sunday am at banjul
