This is such an apt title for the last decade. From someone who's watch all of it and paid serious attention. The bad times started with that hit, and have continued because of a lot of factors, Pegula being the most critical one.

Pls do one on the Flames.
Theyre truly making baffling decisions. It seems like they want to be ass forever.

And Tkachuk leaving Calgary to see their ex superstar already hoist the cup? Fitting for sure

No joke, today I was telling my brother about this incident. These past couple of years he's somehow gotten into the Sabres. Told him about how Lucic took out our Vezina winning, retired number in the rafters, best player for years goaltender and we did nothing. We've been cursed ever since.
Appreciate every single one of your Sabres videos. Another great one even if it brings back some painful memories. That Bruins zoom meeting had me fuming.

And who's that yelling at Pat Kaleta at 9:16? Oh its just Kevyn Adams, current GM of the Sabres

    January 15th, 1998
The Sabres are hosting their sister team in the Mike Keenan coached Vancouver Canucks, Messier’s first year with the team. Nine minutes into the third, with the Sabres leading 6-1, Canucks Enforcer Gino Odjick rams Sabres netminder Dominik Hasek in a fashion carbon copy as to how Lucic rammed Miller, the difference? Richard Smehlik and Darryl Shannon immediately went after Odjick and another brawl ensued, this was a brawled filled game. What’s most interesting is not only the response from these two teams but what happened after. Those 97-98 Sabres started off slow, for many reasons Sabres fans already know but managed to turn it around and finished as one of the top teams of 1998, ultimately playing in their first Conference Finals in 18 years and these Sabres…well, we know what’s happened to them. Lindy, you coached both teams and you’re back now. You need what to do.

When Odjick has Smehlik in a headlock and Shannon came over and got face washed!! What a player with fire and some offensive capabilities. RIP Odjick!!!

My team is next… so many topics to discuss…
-2004 puck in the net thing
    -2022 Coleman kick in
-Jay Feaster sells low on Iggy
    -The Honda Center Losing Streak
-Doug Riseborough trades Gilmour for nothing

The only person that is hated more in Buffalo than Lucic is Tom Brady.

I thought for sure this was going to be about Ville Leino or Terry Pegula (or the referees from No Goal and No Goal 2) - great video!

This destroyed that team. No one stood up for our goalie and everyone coward away. I was so embarrassed as a fan to see it happen. Especially to Miller, it was the beginning of the end of the so call "core". Pomminville, Vanek, Roy, Gaustad.

Aye that was the day and the beginning of the end of the franchise. I remember. Also why I have no problem with playing dirty on the ice. Saber should've got revenge and made it their way of play

I’m glad the YT algorithm recommended your channel to me, and I don’t understand how you don’t have more views. Your stuff is very good.
If I may make a suggestion, how about a video on the 1999-2000 Flyers. They had a crazy season, from their head coach getting cancer, to Eric Lindros’s concussion troubles, to him losing his captaincy for criticizing team doctors, to overtaking the Devils on the final day of the regular season for the #1 seed in the playoffs only to blow a 3-1 series lead to that same Devils team in the ECF.

I loved Craig when he was here, in Montreal. He was a great leader and solid D-Man.
A guy you would be glad to go into a Playoff War with.
He was also part of one of Montreal's largest and most important,
    current trade tree!
I'll give a quick highlight reel, by MEMORY only. I say that, in case I am incorrect. AKA Aging Sucks. ;)
I think we drafted #52 and he was with us for a long time, then one particularly bad year, we traded him to San Jose (at a dry trade deadline, for Dmen), for a 1st round pick!!
There may have been other parts but I remember sitting in my car, double parked at the Airport, waiting for my Sister, who is often late.
When she got in, within 20 secs, the radio announced the trade. She was a homer, as much as I but her west team was San Jose and she had been predicting their first Cup Win, every year, for 3 to 5 years. This was S.J.
    making a big push! Respect!
But when they said we were getting back, we almost hit a security Cop's car!
    'Celebration Time!'
Anyway FF to the draft, with that pick, we chose...
    ...Max Pacioretty!!!
Crazy, I know. How often does a fan's team make a trade that good!
So Patches, who coincidently would be made captain 10 years later, after scoring 30 a year, on average. For a team that has not had a 50 goal scorer since the late 80's, (That drought is at 35 years now). Crazy!
Anyway, 10 to 12 years later we found ourselves in the same spot as before but this time, it was Our Captin and best Goal scorer since since we were wearing L.A. Gear shoes & fake Varnet shirts!
We landed up trading him, for the Suzuki Swift, who we hope, sets up a 50 goal scorer.
I hope that, and a great Sabre team, comes along soon. I cheer my Canadiens, like crazy but I usually pick the underdog, after that. Someone who has never WON before and may have been screwed over in game 6 of Brett Hull finals.
I'm still enraged by that, 25 years later but I'm sure most of you feel even angrier!!
I'm sorry that crap happend! It's like the last Jedi, of Hockey. lol
Sorry for taking so much comment space, during a Buffalo video!?
Seriously, your videos are so good, that I had nothing Sabre relayed, but Craig Rivet. lol
So, any idea when Next season starts??
    Cheers from Montreal Quebec Canada

0:38 Miller “struggled” (i.e was 3% worse than the average goalie at stopping pucks on a rate basis).
More highly-touted goalies have done worse in fewer games on better teams.

    • @oakley22610
      @oakley22610  3 місяці тому

He wasn't bad, he just wasn't a superstar in 2008 compared to how well he played in the two seasons before and after

@@oakley22610 I mean, that’s what playing 70+ games on a non-playoff team will do to any goalie. I’ve always been kinda interested in the “workload curve” for goalies. It’s something I strongly believe in, but haven’t been able to fully substantiate it, though.
