It always amazes me how well in sync they are, If flea changes the bass line, Chad always comes in with another awesome drum beat, then John always has something great to go with it!
Yea that sounds all Moog to me; I think he's using the Murf for filter and the Ring Modulator for that square-wave effect. I hear him turn some reverb on about half way through but I don't think the delay modeler is seeing any action here.
For those who want to know what effects is John using, I can tell you that he is using: - Line 6 FM4 (the obi-wah modeler) - Line 6 Delay Box (probably in the Tremolo mode) - Boss DS-2
John will always be my favorite guitar player!!!!! He should be a DJ in this video :) He has my vote!!!! Sad that he's gone :( I wanted to see him in the Chili Peppers so bad but I saw them with Josh and they killed it!!!! John Frusciante is my guitar hero forever!!!!
@MrEvilQuaker Get Boss CE-1 Chorus Ensemble, DS-1 Distortion, DS-2 Turbo Distortion, Electro-Harmonix English Muff'n fuzz, Holy Grail Reverb, Big Muff Pi fuzz, POG Polyphonic Octave Generator, Electric Mistress Flanger, DOD 680 Analog Delay, Moog MF-105 MuRF, MF-105B Bass MuRF, MF-101 Low-Pass Filter, interconnect them all, turn them all on, do some intense knob studying and hopefully you'll get that ginormous effect.
what exact pedals is john using in this ? my guess is, holy grail reverb, maybe big muff and 1 of his moogs anybody got a better idea of what hes using ? thanks
Yeaaah! I was there, 15 years old, had to wait 9 hours to see them! But it was worth it, they're genius. Love this band, sad Frusciante is gone.. Peace n Love from Holland.
From all of the mighty jams this is and forever will be my favorite. Everything is in complet order in this chaos. The drums...Flea's workout on the bass and the holy Jesus making math on that strat with a soul like no other can do. Damn this is good!
flea brings out so much in john's playing. .he's always bringing in new movements to the music and then he gets to see where john takes it, which is always somewhere amazing.
@Lolest1 do you see him tweaking knobs or tweaking DISCS? - since DJ means DISC Jockey and it's not equal to electronic music producing. so he rather looks like a MUSICIAN who is not only a guitar player but as we heard in his Speed Dealer Moms project - also a very good electronic music producer.
Your entire basis for saying that bass is better than guitar is that 'john spends his time on his knees infront of his pedals'?? Personally I think this only proves john's ability 2 jam with pedals AND guitar (cf. 4:11 to end). A bassist's ability 2 make awesome grooves goes hand in hand with and marries the drums AND guitar - the contrast is intentional to create artistic interest. If the whole thing were just one groove it'd be boring!
@10m19l92o i went ot see them two years ago and they just played 8 songs in a one and a half hour concert... i suppose they just didnt want to do the same as always... it was just amazing... but stupid people thorught glasses at them because they did not even play otherside, nor californitcation...
Uh, Jazz bands (real ones anyway, not high school ones) are WAY better at improvising, and thats not taking anything away from the Chilis! Jazz is universally known as the most improvisational form of music. If you doubt it, go check out John Coltrane Live at Birdland.
well luckily flea is actually one of the cleanest most mistake free rock bass players.theres two types of mistake playing, mistakes that come from not knowing what youre doing, and mistakes that come from intensity and passion. flea's is the latter.
lol u cant compare them...theyr both amazing in their own way..they play totally different instruments...i wasnt intending to put down john or anythng...i dono i guess i just sort of lean on flea more since i play bass myself....
jams like these make me wonder why Chili's weren't a tad more ambitious in their recent album tracks, don't get me wrong their new albums are still great, they just lack the intensity and spontanaeity seen here...
dude! I get your point but I disaggree that John is better at guitar and understanding the whole technical side of music,,, where do you base that on? Flea is an extraordinary musician! So is John, I love him.
another thing is that if u listen closely you hear flea mess up a bunch of times... but I almost enjoy it more that he messes up because it shows that hes truly just fucking jamming out and playing what he feels!!!
@10m19l92o Today I totally agree but when I went to see them the first time in 2001 while they were jamming and jamming I was like "come on! aren't they gonna play another song? Where's higher ground?" haha that was me
same dude, i hate having guitarists drown me out, but they probably only do that because flea is more talented/popular that john. i personally disagree that he's better but flea is definatlly more known
without doubt flea is my fav bass player but Frusciante adds a different element to the music, but all in all id say ur right if flea wasnt there then it would be like wtf
well said, although technicality is not what music is about. Cream, Coltrane, etc make the Chilis look like amatuer jammers, but that doesnt mean they aint good
does anyone know what kind of pedal john is using to make that sound. i know it's some kind of delay or tremolo, but what kind. thanks!!! great jam by the way
what song were they playing as they jammed this ending?.....is it give it away?...it doesnt even sound like it (even at the beginning of the video)....please tel me! thanks
@raph777745 Dude please tell me you're not referring to Stadium Arcadium, because it's definately one of the best albums in their career, if not the best!
Flea and Mr. Smith are doing the hole job, and at the same moment John is looking for his sound. that is unfear but they where helping a band member out.
That was sick, but the end jam here in Houston (wish there was video of it) went on for literally 20 minutes of mostly John screwing with his delay pedals and Klinghoffer coming out too for some extra feedback and shredding as well. Course I don't think there's ever been a bad Chilis jam.
It always amazes me how well in sync they are, If flea changes the bass line, Chad always comes in with another awesome drum beat, then John always has something great to go with it!
Yea that sounds all Moog to me; I think he's using the Murf for filter and the Ring Modulator for that square-wave effect. I hear him turn some reverb on about half way through but I don't think the delay modeler is seeing any action here.
the bass is a Modulus... Flea has a custom bass at Modulus, but they're very expansive, ~ $2000
JOHN IS BACK 15/12/2019 The day i said ok God thats all i asked you can rest now!
I would rest when i see this guy live.
@@lauragiurovich me too my brother, waiting for John to come to Brazil , hope this year.
Flea and Chad are a MACHINE in this thing.
DJ Frusciante
For those who want to know what effects is John using, I can tell you that he is using:
- Line 6 FM4 (the obi-wah modeler)
- Line 6 Delay Box (probably in the Tremolo mode)
- Boss DS-2
john always whips out the line 6 delay modeler during these things. like a fuckin boss
i dont even understand half the things flea plays. like its just such gritty, raw jam......... yeah.
dude chad and flea have some chemistry built up
John will always be my favorite guitar player!!!!! He should be a DJ in this video :) He has my vote!!!! Sad that he's gone :( I wanted to see him in the Chili Peppers so bad but I saw them with Josh and they killed it!!!! John Frusciante is my guitar hero forever!!!!
we've got another chance now
@MrEvilQuaker Get Boss CE-1 Chorus Ensemble, DS-1 Distortion, DS-2 Turbo Distortion, Electro-Harmonix English Muff'n fuzz, Holy Grail Reverb, Big Muff Pi fuzz, POG Polyphonic Octave Generator, Electric Mistress Flanger, DOD 680 Analog Delay, Moog MF-105 MuRF, MF-105B Bass MuRF, MF-101 Low-Pass Filter, interconnect them all, turn them all on, do some intense knob studying and hopefully you'll get that ginormous effect.
Jesus fucking Christ.
That's all I have to say.
awesome John!
this is some trickfinger shit
john frusciante is one powerfull D.J.
what exact pedals is john using in this ?
my guess is, holy grail reverb, maybe big muff and 1 of his moogs
anybody got a better idea of what hes using ?
thanks
that was sick flea!!!!
i love how they can communicate so well on stage
beautiful singing lead guitar as always by frusciante
This is jsut pure energy it's the best thing i ever seen them play! i am absolutly in love this band!
This jam is amazing!
2:08 MAN flea was really enjoying it you can see that
wooaao!
when instrumental music becomes electronic
we get the reincarnation of jezz
John Frusciante RULES! His riffs, solos just blow my mind. BEAUTIFUL.
Yeaaah! I was there, 15 years old, had to wait 9 hours to see them! But it was worth it, they're genius. Love this band, sad Frusciante is gone..
Peace n Love from Holland.
he's back
@@bobbyramos1558 Their new stuff is great, too!!
one of the most beautiful improvised pieces of music i've ever heard
does any body know where i can download red hot jams but only jams
imagine if john had more pedals
woooooo focking yeeeahhhh thats how you focking rock woooo sorry im drunk :)
From all of the mighty jams this is and forever will be my favorite. Everything is in complet order in this chaos. The drums...Flea's workout on the bass and the holy Jesus making math on that strat with a soul like no other can do. Damn this is good!
Sounds like Mars Volta! :D which is maybe because John was in Mars Volta... :P
what effect is he ussing??
flea brings out so much in john's playing. .he's always bringing in new movements to the music and then he gets to see where john takes it, which is always somewhere amazing.
The way these guys jam is incredible. great video.
Anthony Kields: 1 000 000 $
Chad Smith: 2 000 000 $
John Frusciante: 3 000 000 $
Flea: 4 000 000 $
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Priceless
The first little riff they play sounds like sweey leaf!
..and chad smith is his accomplice
It's amazing how they improvise. They play the improvisation as though it's a song they wrote and have been playing for years!
4:36 damn that groove. !!

Sooo cool! Sounds like an electronic music. So different and original.... I love these guys playing together.
3:03 :D
I JIZZED
best guitar player

@cheersforbeers807 wow, well that's mature. I wish all us RHCP fans had you to speak for us against anyone who doesn't like their music.
@ChadSmithFanFinn
someone said to me that it was in Lisbon, at rock in rio... but I don't know why anthony says "thank you pinkpop" ...
Love that
Also check out Californication inro, Slane Castle
(Permutation was also jam before Californication in Montreal)
the arguement for pedals is: "i like to paint with different colours".
but you have to draw the line somewhere you know.
Everyone is saying that John is using the Line 6 filter pedal. No. haha he is using the Moog RingModulator. Or some other Moog pedal.
Not entirely. Flea is badass on the bass. One of the best of our time. If he wasn't there they'd be half the band too.
Jaa,
iedereen heeft zo'n roze petje op,
en er staat 3 voor 12 radio rechts boven.
i dot think you guys understand he is enjoying the music "FUCKING amazing" is a good thing last i checked
It has to be search and destroy from off the map. Also the alcatraz dani cali jam and TAYT from slane.
Yeah, didn't actuallt know that but thanks, and i got the chord now, it's a F sharp diminished 7 :)
@jjenkins134 tremolo, phaser, a lot of reverb and a lot of gain to get feedback, is pretty easy
can somebody tell me what pedal is john using for this weird sounds. It's a Moog or something?
what about hilel the other guitarist who john replaced (died of OD) back when rhcp was funk
better if they turned that technoish sound into reggae!
da funk would blast ure head away!
haha its so cool while john is shredding while flea and chad are adding the fills with rests
That was sick, but the end jam here in Houston (wish there was video of it) went on for literally 20 minutes of mostly John screwing with his delay pedals and Klinghoffer coming out too for some extra feedback and shredding as well.
Course I don't think there's ever been a bad Chilis jam.
some one please tell me wha effects pedal john used to make that sound at the begining????
the fabulous song of the frusciante's pedals mooger fooger!!!
John frusciante is a god!!
i dont think it would work as a song. oart of the magic is that they are doing it as a JAM
@MrEvilQuaker Moog MiDi Murf and some delay pedal. Im gonna guess its a Moog delay pedal.
holy sh. this was a hell of a jam. flea was totally sick n cred to chad and JF as well
this is so spacy!!
what effect is join using? is it a moogerfooger or a moog pedal?
not that they arent all magnificent but they are SO lucky frusciante is in the band
sounds a bit similar to the jam at the end of throw away your tv in from Yokohama
Howdy! It happens to be woodstock `98 acctually, at least i'm pretty sure it is.
chad
anthony
frusciante
flea
if anyone is missing
the aren't even PEPPERS!!!!
@rudey6933 he uses different types of moog's pedals... very very expensive...
actually.. there are only three.. the "others" are just different inversions.
if i could be 1/10 as good as john at jamming and improvising i would be happy
Can anyone tell me if there`s a video of this concert, or where was this? :3
I defy anyone to watch this and tell me these aren't an amazing musical band
ye but there are alot of diminished chords but thanks for help anyways :)
if u listen and watch the vid ur see that john starts the tempo 4 the jam
cant describe in words, i would say amazing but its better than amazing
This is the best shit ive ever heard, bloody hell. Or period, its the same
as in it makes your face disgusting after its melted off by that solo?
the sucks peppers wont be the same without john hes a hard to replace
