While watching Foster's final run, after having watched the entire contest from the beginning, I got the sense that regardless of what insane tricks he pulled it was literally impossible for him to beat Nyquist's 89.6. Very disappointed in the judging, Foster should have won.
I honestly don't know what the judges were watching, I like Nyquist but he's been doing truckdrivers since 1999...should have been between baldock and foster, new and massive tricks every hit. Rigged.
So glad to see I'm not the only one noticing the scoring on this. I've been watching a bunch of different comps the past couple of weeks like FMX, other motocross and bmx freestyle, and other drastically different sports like snowboarding and other extreme sports. I've noticed this upsetting trend of new and innovative styles not being rewarded. Whether its Redbull, X Games, or sometimes even Nitro Circus, the "old" riders get high scores for mediocre runs that sometimes are hardly cleaner than the crazy complex new styles coming out.
I used to ride religiously, everyday with no exception. That was 3 years ago and after 5 seasons of varsity rowing in high school my priorities have changed, but watching this is hard. I wouldn't think twice of crashes like these but looking back really generates some ptsd for me. I understand this is "pushing the limits" and going further with bmx but this needs to stop somewhere. Its getting to the point where riders only care about the next trick, or the biggest jump (this exemplified by nitro circus) but it seems bmx today is so focused on whats next, that the enjoyment i derived from riding, doing just basic tricks and having fun, just gets lost with every groundbreaking event. And of course the injuries, they are amplified, exponentially over the three years i had stopped. Looking at this new world of bmx doesn't inspire me to come back, for it is just a society of whats next and not enjoying the simpler things of a bmx bike.
Funny i was sitting here thinking back on how racing ruined my love for riding. I raced bmx in Utah through the 80s and lost my love for riding while trying to win, and i stopped riding for years. In my late 20s i bought a beautiful Schwinn race bike. My first alluminum frame. I rode around downtown doing nothing but enjoying myself. No videos to impress, no fame or glory, just that filled with that magic feeling of riding that i first felt as a kid. To this day i still pull out the bmx and ride through the alleys to the museum. No one sees me and it does not matter. Strange where joy comes from, I was never able to win it, it just found me when i was authentic. Strange indeed.
If your name is Nyquist I guess you win gold no matter how much bigger the other riders are going? 89.6? I get it, the man is a legend. Use to watch him and Hoffman when I was little. They got me to wanna ride but don’t rip off the new talent for the sake of names....bs
Okay I screamed at my screen. I know this is an old competition, but Foster's run was so amazing and to then be given such a low score. What the hell?!
Mychal Moser They don't even notice the small details like foster finished his last run with an opposite triple whip and they just said it was a triple whip.
IMO, Foster should have won this. He had style and originality. The judges should never be allowed to judge a comp again. Throw those announcers in the mix and whoever uploaded this video in interlaced scan while we're at it.
Watching this, Baldock became my favorite one. Love his tricks, should have won. very professional guy. No idea how someone who does barspins over and over could beat what Baldock did. What a shitty result
In his defense, he did take it to a whole other level....if it was 1996. I also rode amateur in 1998. Compared to the way children ride today, I sucked. Nyquist has zero style as far as I am concerned.
I'm from Brazil and I would like them to put subtitles in Portuguese because many Brazilians watch and in the end many do not understand why it's in English! thanks in advance
+K9 UNIT If you really think it's a chemtrail (extraordinary claim), then prove it (extraordinary evidence). My research has led me to believe (based on evidence) that chemtrails have been dismissed by the scientific community.
Contrails disapate quickly. Chemtrails linger. There's literally tons of patents you can search for cloud seeding. When people act like this isn't real, it cracks me up.
These judges were pathetic. An 89.6 for a few 360's and barspins? and yet Foster and Baldock do almost twice as much as Nyquist and get lower points? Do the judges not see the difficulty in the trick Foster and Baldock do? Majorly Rigged! -.-
Baldock has DUI and drug issues. Never gonna get the scores. It's all about image and sponsors. And Nyquist is a legend and still puts down ridiculous runs
@@littlelarry2912 If by ridiculous you mean stale, then yeah. I quit watching X Games in the 90's cause i got sick of watching 2 hours of backflip barspins and truck drivers.
Issues or not his run was sweet as hell im watching this in 2020 and they still haven't put nyquist down yet.hes like an old dog whos suffering from bad hips and old age but his owners wont put him to sleep lol
That win definitely should have gone to Foster or Baldock. Nyquist is good but there's no way he deserved an 89 for that shit. Like wtf did he buy out the judges?
How they scored this event was brutal. I really can't believe the score Baldock was given. He threw down some incredible tricks.
If there stands the judges looking for flow as well they mean they are only looking at the flow
Agreed!
I live like a few minutes from this and I had no clue this even happened until now! I always miss the coolest stuff.
34:41 SKETCHY! I'm so impressed he managed to stay on.
While watching Foster's final run, after having watched the entire contest from the beginning, I got the sense that regardless of what insane tricks he pulled it was literally impossible for him to beat Nyquist's 89.6. Very disappointed in the judging, Foster should have won.
I really like it thanks for making the best Redbull dream line video
James Foster totally killed it on his last run. He should have won
I honestly don't know what the judges were watching, I like Nyquist but he's been doing truckdrivers since 1999...should have been between baldock and foster, new and massive tricks every hit. Rigged.
Agreed... rigged
Shut up
Stephen Ho Maybe the judges were sick of seeing flip after flip or whip after whip.

Great event, thanks Red Bull!
Mike Hucker Clark with a Inverted 360 Donkey kick! Yesss!!

1. Foster
2. Baldock
3. Nyquist (for posterity)
Those were some sick runs

I am sorry for Pat Casey.
R.I.P. 🙏
that was so dam sick. I cant wait until 2016 x BMX dirt jump competition! Kyle Boldock owned the whole fucking thing!
Ooof. RIP Pat Casey. You are definitely missed.
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who thinks the judging was complete and utter bull crap. Baldock and Foster had amazing runs.
im down for those two aswell, this is so wrong
It's Redbullshit but it's really entertaining watching these athletes do what they do...Not so much Nyquist.
Actually made me mad nyquist is garbage send him back to the 90s
Mychal Moser They don't even notice the small details like foster finished his last run with an opposite triple whip and they just said it was a triple whip.
probably the worst announcing and scoring I've ever witnessed, topkek for this

And James Foster
This is what inspired me to do BMX
Que gran espectáculo!!!!! 🙌🙌🙌
More full events pls!!!!
I agree more please
there are alot go look at there channel videos
strongly agree
Nyquist is a legend in BMX, there's no questioning that, but Foster should have walked away with this event pretty easily after that last run.
spoiler alert
hopa hopa redbull👍👍👍
Respect 🙏
Pa shout out po Gilbert Ardeña i love dis video tnk you 👍💓
I wish I could take a mountainboard on a course like that!
amazing brother
baldocks run was unreal 84 wtf??? these judges are high on glue
"Takes it to a completely nother level" As said by the commentator.
In his defense, he did take it to a whole other level....if it was 1996. I also rode amateur in 1998. Compared to the way children ride today, I sucked. Nyquist has zero style as far as I am concerned.
I hope to be as good as them one day! 🤔
every 360 downside whip turned to be "decade air" :p
That track is fn AWESOME
you are awesome
sickest intro ever
redbull i love you
I can sit and watch X games, BMX, and just about every opponent will do very good

Americans: rear brake is on right side
Australianas: rear brake is on the left side
Dennis Enarson: no brakes
I'm from Brazil and I would like them to put subtitles in Portuguese because many Brazilians watch and in the end many do not understand why it's in English! thanks in advance
Ryan has been the best for me for a long time - legend
SO COOL😀😀😀😀

Dreams You - as well as pretty much everyone else in the comments section - forgot that trick difficulty was only bullet point number 5 on their list.
yeah but that Nyquists run wasnt clean at all, compared for example to Foster
Baldock has DUI and drug issues. Never gonna get the scores. It's all about image and sponsors. And Nyquist is a legend and still puts down ridiculous runs

Was hoping someone would flare of the sharkfin but haven't watched it all yet
go clark just started watching
I would've expect redbull going bigger than a track somewhere on a secluded farm....huh!
Best runs.... (although I am listing my favorite runs, and not my own scoring... the scoring was atrocious)
1) Baldock
2) Baldock
3) Foster
THEY TOOK THAT WIN FROM KYLE BALDDOCK SMH
Anyone notice that the commentators favourite trick 'the decade' never happened once as they were all 360 down whips?
im glad every body thinks this is bs ... kyle should have had it ryan shouldnt have been on the podium
nyquist is a legend but i think he just gave buckets of money to the judges
If I am wrong correct me, but they don't know their tricks, A "seatgrab no footer" is a cannonball
+Goes` It was actually a 360 flip from Baldock and a cork 720
my uncle used to do this kinda stuff in high school
there are 5 factors taken into consideration by the judges, speed, variety, age, financial contribution, and last but not least age..
I'm from the US and theres no way Baldock did not win this competition. I literally dont understand the outcome of this event.
Just because I wasn’t good at sports and they were all better than me, but now I can see
amazing
That superman seat grab doe
AWSOME
baldock and Casey are my guys
nice intro
I don't have 50 mins to watch movies during work. make a highlight reel or somn lol
Algun dia tendrán y seré aun mas feliz

+Zach Craig oh yeai foggot all about shazam
+Legendary Gamer shazam is he best it is so helpful
what the fuck? 89.6 for that very simple and easy run?
kepong23 For real. After that run, I was like "Well, at least he's still having fun at 35," then I saw the score...
it's clear that that was a biased score from his friends from the judges
kepong23 agreed, that was wack
kepong23 musta liked those green couches on his knees
kepong23 I agree I think they may have just been favoring him for being a biking veteran.
I've always been confused with the Anthony Napoliton run preview. How does he get that GoPro on his head. It's so confusing?
very cool
God I love bmx
is this some sort of joke?!
baldock shredded that set every time...
Ryan scores highest for hanging up and a couple of barspins...
joke!
A decade and a front flip in the same run, why is Baldock not at 1st?
holy shit your intro is so amazing:')
can you use a bmx race bike for these things or some freestyling?
Not really man
woy emezing

Re watching in 2023
I can actually watch NASCAR and nothing bad really happens. I’ll do my best to save every car I can.
Asheville!!!!!!!
why do they stopped to do the dreamline contest
Kyle should have took it...
That win definitely should have gone to Foster or Baldock. Nyquist is good but there's no way he deserved an 89 for that shit. Like wtf did he buy out the judges?
you a better score when doing more on EACH jump
baldock should have won easy, nyquist was just barspins the whole run bullshit
A guy that did impressive tricks got a 83.4 and a guy that did basically nothing on two of the last jumps got a 79?
Sick😜
Baldock got robbed.
