Bro, from my point of view I think this year is the base model year, I bought the 15 regular, I think it shoots awesome photos and I am satisfied with it. The plus and pro max are a no go for me, because they are way too big. So in between the regular and pro model, the regular really has a completely new sensor that I think will be developed further next year pro model, the pro uses the older sensor. Better battery on the 15, it does not overheat, the price is fair, no reason to go for the pro at all
I chose the iPhone 15 Pro (not the max), but I was sad that I couldn't take 5x portraits with that beautiful effect. But I went crazy when I was taking pictures and zoomed from 3x to 5x in portrait mode. And I was shocked because it was almost identical to the result of the 5x lens of the pro max. I had the 13 Pro and there was no possibility of zooming in portrait mode, at most it reached up to 3x. You who have the iPhone 15 Pro, open the camera in portrait mode, select the 3x lens and try to zoom. Go straight to 5x and the portrait effect is perfect. I don't know if more people know this, but I still haven't seen any UA-camr explaining about this possibility or testing it. I'm super excited 🤩
some people want actual dramatic awesome shots that truly wouldn't be possible without 5x or more zoom cause you get stuck on just the actual sensor and not that it can zoom in 10x more so clearly people who travel, are in cities with big building, art, world wonders in the world the 5x can zoom you in a shot that you would never have ever got before
Still, for a Lot of people the 5x will be too much. 3x is a much more versatile zoom. There is a reason why so many always on lenses are 24-70 or similar (which is 1-3 times zoom). 5x often can make it harder to frame a shot and you really have to step back with portraits. Otherwise the 15PM will automaticaly chose the main lense and crop in
ill give it to you 3x is more versatile but the better lens is still 5x regardless comparing the two the 5x will always give you a more dramatic photo but if you take random photos sure but some people care about quality shots!
@@beebeedeeie the quality between the two is the same (for Color, sharpness and so on). Only the look should be different. In the end I think it depends on the situation which is better. Thats why I also went the iP15PM. The bigger screen and battery life is always better. The dependson the situation. The difference would be bigger of the tele was Not 12MP. Cause the difference between the 2x and 3x isnt that big. But the difference between 2x and 5x is. I am very happy with my Max.
I have to say, not owning a dedicated camera, I have learnt quite a lot about photography from you in recent videos. For example, I thought zoom was just for far away objects. I had no idea that it was utilised to overcome the 'fisheye' effect of x1 when quite close to a subject, alongside DSLR style bokeh (had to look that up or would have spelt it "Boka"!) and that weird compression that decreases the field of view of the scenery behind the subject relative to the subject FOV (why does that happen?). As for this video, I've said it before, regular 15s are excellent this year! So many photos close to the Pro Max plus you get 2000 nit screen & 13hr+ battery life!
Yea, Sony makes the sensors and this is a brand new one. I'm not sure if they updated the slightly larger one that in the Pro's yet so that could be a reason, or Apple just wanted to re-use it and save some money since costs go down over time.
Could be because of yield rate: larger sensors means defects on the wafer is more prone to make the entire sensor unusable, smaller sensors means it's much easier for the defects just to be thrown away and it won't affect the yield that much.
From what I’ve seen of my 15PM so far, you have two main places to be cautious, as you pointed out: - In the ~65 to 119mm range, where it has to crop in from the main sensor, and starts running out of resolution in doing so, and - Close-in focusing (not even macro) other than using ultra-wide. Essentially, avoid where possible the 3.5-4.99X zoom-level, and scrutinize close-in focus especially carefully, being ready to switch to ultra-wide/macro.
well sure but just give go in closer to the shot or walk a bit back simple, the 5x still is better tell me when you can zoom in up to 25x like the 5x can when in times you really cant take it like a big building and you zooming into something or art a bit away or world wonders that don't put you so close to the actual structure so the 5x is perfect to get that close up shot, with 3x you could just try the 5x or just do 2x it'll be just fine I promise
The 14pro got a few camera updates in iOS 17. Like 2x portrait and 48mp heif etc. maybe not on par with the 15 generations. But nice to see regardless.

I like to use wide-angle shots when I do traveling videos. I'm starting to think that a iPhone 15 Pro won't make a huge difference for me since I don't really zoom in much. Any thoughts or advice?
The 15 Pro is the model to get, the x5 on the 15 Pro Max is plagued by noise. In addition, the 15 Pro Max suffers at the range between x3 and x4.9. It's bad.
So lemme get this right. I’m buying the pro max phone for a pro price but the regular 15 has better pictures in certain situations? How does that make sense. Why are we sacrificing.

So 15Pro does a better job doing a 5x photo than the 15PM doing a 3-4.9x photo 5x focal range is not as practical .. hope Apple don’t blindly keep pumping up the lens range for every iPhone generation
Regarding the focus of the 15 Pro Max, something must seriously be wrong with yours. I have a 15 Pro and I actually just tested it with the box the phone came in just like you did. I can get so close to the point that I can only see one written word on the screen without it being out of focus
The plus is great but the pro max is literally a cinematic camera. I want to get it so bad. I’m a film maker but I have an iPhone XR so it’s hard to get good video
Unless it's an actual physically different lens, such 1x vs 5x, any differences are likely down to Apple tweaking the software to make the more expensive phone look better.
This was incredibly helpful, thank you! Also, it was the first time I've seen any of your videos, and having been born and raised in Spokane and now living in the midwest, it was so wonderful to get such beautiful glimpses of home. : )
Okay so if iP15 have the option to make portrait out of the normal photo, then can u make a 3x normal photo and make portrait out of it aswell and what quality is it?
I’m torn. At some point I’ll need a new phone, but none of them have a 3x lens anymore. The Pro Max here just doesn’t seem to do a great job with 3x, but the 15 Pro’s 3x lens seems to do fine at 5x. I get why they want a bigger zoom, but it sucks that it comes at the expense of 3-4x, which seems waaay more practical IRL.
Just for the ones who take pictures alot which one is more useful the x5 or x3 since i know you will be missing the 3x zoom with the pro max. I just want to know which one is more useful in real life
Depends on your subject. Using 5x telephoto on Samsung for 3 years. If it's wildlife - super usefull, you don't scare animals coming close. For portraits 5x is just to close, you would need to be able to walk away from subject pretty far, so in the city not comfortable at all. Same with still life. I really wished I had 3x vs 5x most of the time.
iPhone 12 has a dedicated 50 (x2), iPhone 15 uses digital crop. Side by side the x2 camera is unbeatable on the iPhone 12. The advantages of the iPhone 15 is low light and action cam. Not many people run in the dark with their phone most use the x2 during the day. I use the x2 camera the most so iPhone 12 is the winner for me. Apple only ruined the x2 camera because they don’t want to add another camera but want to compete with Samsung zooms. How often are people really zooming though compared to taking portraits?
I don’t understand how camera lenses work, what if I want to have a picture where the background is not blurred out like the 15 plus, what lens and zoom should I use. The 15 pro max pictures you show, the background looks blurred out which I would want to avoid 90% of the time.
Hello, great camera comparison! Can you make also a vid to explain regular iPhone 15 usb-C compatibility with external Ssd? Are all compatible? What if the storage is encrypted APFS? Please make these tests I want to buy standard iPhone 15
Hey bro, I love taking potrait shots with a zoomed lens but I have bought iphone 15 plus. Can we move closer to the object and switch to 2x telephoto ?? Will it cope up with that 5x telephoto ?
I've got pro, my wife got 15 plus and actually I like more 15 plus images, noise, clarity, detail and skin tones are better on this newer sensor... I'm bit dissapointed with pro.
@@lukasdolezal8103 yes if human face is there even at 3x zoom i am able to convert a normal photo to portrait mode. But remember the quality would not be that great as 1x or 2x as after 2x it would be a digital zoom.
Hi max, I truly want to appreciate the efforts you put into your work. The detailed description in every part after reviewing everything in the images. Extreme level of details in the time stamps. No doubt how you are growing so well. I am definitely impressed with your work. ❤
I tested the 5x lense inside in lowlight and for some reason if I use night mode and then turn up the exposure to get things even brighter, I see the change on the screen that it looks brighter, but after I take the shot and look at the photo it looks much much darker than what I saw on screen before I took the photo. Then if I turn off night mode the exposure seems to work better. But with the main lense it seems to work better even with night mode on.
talking about portraits, you often said about greater compression on the PM. But we can do the post edit of F to change the compression rate with the regular 15 too right?
The blur on portait shots for the Pro models seems to be working either very well or adds too much blur. So much that it does not look natural at all... Is it done in the post by adding more blur? Blur definitely makes images look nice in some way, but adding too much makes them lool overprocessed...

@@iphonetwotwelve no, it depends. 15 pro's battery is dead while 15 pro max still has 20%.
Awesome video ❤
so, 15 pro and 15 pro max camera tone is different??
Regarding the focus of the 15 Pro Max, something must seriously be wrong with yours. I have a 15 Pro and I actually just tested it with the box the phone came in just like you did. I can get so close to the point that I can only see one written word on the screen without it being out of focus
I was thinking the same. No way a Pro Max phone can't get as close and be worse off
For the best video and video options which would you go with? And up close product focus shots?
great video!
What zooms are available in cinematic mode?
If the Reg 15 Max has a new sensor, then why don’t the Pro Max get the new sensor?
Nice Comparison video
Love from India
The plus is great but the pro max is literally a cinematic camera. I want to get it so bad. I’m a film maker but I have an iPhone XR so it’s hard to get good video
Unless it's an actual physically different lens, such 1x vs 5x, any differences are likely down to Apple tweaking the software to make the more expensive phone look better.
This was incredibly helpful, thank you! Also, it was the first time I've seen any of your videos, and having been born and raised in Spokane and now living in the midwest, it was so wonderful to get such beautiful glimpses of home. : )
Should i go with the regular 15 brand new or a used 13 pro? 13 pro slightly cheaper here
Dude you can also get 3x portrait photo on iphone 15 just try to zoom in and it will automatically switch to 3X
I have $1500, what should I buy, a 15pro max or a pro camera for a beginner photographer?
Offcourse a camera,iPhone just for social media gimmicks
Thanks for honest and objective comparison
Okay so if iP15 have the option to make portrait out of the normal photo, then can u make a 3x normal photo and make portrait out of it aswell and what quality is it?
So the night portrait and raw photos are just about software features right?
Great video. Loving the video on my iPhone 15 plus👍
I have an IPhone 13. Would I see a noticeable difference in photos with a 15 or 15 plus?
Yep
My best friend sent me this just to throw shade at me for having the base iPhone 13 and the fact that I could be doing more when I do ootd pics 😂
Looking like a sicario in them selfies 😂
Thanks for the comparisons. Truly helped solidify which direction to go!
Which one i should take??
You always have the best camera reviews. iPhone 15 pro max it is. Thank you
What about if using external lenses like the Moment lenses? Does the Pro Max perform best in that case?
Great Review! Thanks guys!
Please compare 48m HEIF in the Pro to 24m in non pro. Do you recommend the pro phones use HEIF Max instead?
If you want the best detail then yes.
@@MaxTechOfficial Also is 14Pro with 48M HEIF Max better than 15Pro 24M?
I just bought 15 plus and trust me its just awesome
U used 15 pro less , v need perfect comparison with 15 plus and 15 pro .
Do you think the 15 takes better low light photos minus the portrait mode
Just curious, which iPhone 15 would be best for taking photos at a concert?
This is why I’m here too 😭
3x is better then 5x LMFAO
Does the portrait level really matter? As a common civilian, I take photos and selfies cuz I like the background.
This year iPhone 15 series have a huge camera upgrade compared to last year 14 series.
Hello, great camera comparison! Can you make also a vid to explain regular iPhone 15 usb-C compatibility with external Ssd? Are all compatible? What if the storage is encrypted APFS? Please make these tests I want to buy standard iPhone 15
Where is pic from Iphone 15?
I like night mode portraits and macro on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
When do you use macro lens? What does it do?
nice vid!
You also have 5x portait mode on Iphone 15 Pro, you just need to zoom in :)
Hey bro, I love taking potrait shots with a zoomed lens but I have bought iphone 15 plus. Can we move closer to the object and switch to 2x telephoto ?? Will it cope up with that 5x telephoto ?
The selfie camera of iphone 15 gets into over processing and becomes dark and blurry, what should I do
Does anyone’s 15 pro max photos turns out dark ,blurry and grainy ? I am having this issue it so disappointing
Same bro, on apple forum a lot of users write about that
I've got pro, my wife got 15 plus and actually I like more 15 plus images, noise, clarity, detail and skin tones are better on this newer sensor... I'm bit dissapointed with pro.
S23 vs 15 plus which phone should take🤔
15plus
The difference was so much, so i got 15 plus. I am happy with the quality for now.
Can u please test if u can shoot normal photo with 3x zoom on 15plus and then make portrait out of it? Thanks!
Does iPhone 15 plus front camera have OIS ?
No
I tested the 5x lense inside in lowlight and for some reason if I use night mode and then turn up the exposure to get things even brighter, I see the change on the screen that it looks brighter, but after I take the shot and look at the photo it looks much much darker than what I saw on screen before I took the photo. Then if I turn off night mode the exposure seems to work better. But with the main lense it seems to work better even with night mode on.
Same with selfies
@@garthfielding9143 Yes annoying
you can actuallyget the same depth on 3x by just adjusting the bookeh just like 5x on max
ProRAW is freaking awesome 🤩
talking about portraits, you often said about greater compression on the PM. But we can do the post edit of F to change the compression rate with the regular 15 too right?
Best choose iPhone 14 pro or iPhone 14 pro max in my opinion
Which phone is best iphone 15 pro max or s24 ultra
Wish you could also do comparison for android phones like Xiaomi 14 Pro vs Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Vivo x100 Pro vs Vivo x100 Ultra..
The blur on portait shots for the Pro models seems to be working either very well or adds too much blur. So much that it does not look natural at all... Is it done in the post by adding more blur? Blur definitely makes images look nice in some way, but adding too much makes them lool overprocessed...
Simply put:
The Everyday Consumer: Regular 15/15 Plus
The Professional or aspiring photographer: The Pro/Pro Max
is there anything i can do w grainy front camera selfies? its so grainy for some reason 😭😭
