Carlin is the best comedian of all times, ANYTHING from Carlin in the 90´s is pure gold.
Chappele is a close second with potencial to assume the title of best comedian of all times.
NEVER a comedian was so bold as Carlin, he had the biggest balls in the comedy busisnes.
A lot of truth in this bit. At this point in most two party systems. You’re buying a ticket to essentially the same party with a couple of differences on the fringes. They both mostly have the same donors, they largely agree on everything that affects everybody else and disagree on some stuff around the edges so the optics look like they are very different but in practicality not really.
What George Carlin said a quarter century ago is as true now as it was then. He was the man.
You don't get that kind of blast of truth to the face anymore because Carlin was from the working class and knew how things really work. We all need to learn that kind of wisdom again.

The 90s era of "extreme" where you could theoretically try things on TV you couldn't before or since because of the censors fit George Denis Carlin like a glove. It was a match made in Truth Heaven. The 90s officially died in 2001. America will never be the same place again, sadly.

Meh. Carlin was a smart man, and not an asshole. That bit wasn't about something like COVID. If he were alive to see a global pandemic that's killed over a million people and counting, in ways that make them suffer, and would kill much more without the precautions we do have in place, he would be all for basic measures like self-quarantining, masks, and hand sanitizing. That bit was about diseases that don't kill off a massive number of people in torturous ways.
@@IceMetalPunk which this "pandemic" doesn't do either. This Virus got a chance of 99,6% that you survive and most people don't have symptoms at all despite being infected. The ones who get bodied by this Virus got pre existing sicknesses like a dangerous form of asthmatics, their immune system is weaker then the immune system of other people for whatever reason or being like way overweight - something that is very common in the country of obesity America hence the many deaths. Also american health care SUCKS ASS. Greetings from Germany where most people are sick of this crap and most don't even know someone who had it.

You can sit here and say it's the same as [disease X] or it's not really that bad, but it IS deadly and the fact that it's more contagious than other members of the SARS family increase its risk even more. You want to keep saying the inconvenience of a mask is worse than the consequences of spreading the virus, go ahead, but first make sure you tell that to the 1+ million families of people who have died from it in less than a year. Say it to their faces. I'll bet after the first few thousand you'll start to have a little more empathy and realize the importance of trying to reduce the spread of this thing.

If you guys want to back pocket this, George Carlin's widow said in an interview with Larry King that the Mount Rushmore of comedians that make up the elements of George Carlin are: Bill Maher (Politics/Religion), Lewis Black (Anger/Pure Vitriol), Jerry Seinfeld (Observations), and Brian Regan (Physical Comedy). Just thought that would help out a bit. If you want another great Politically Incorrect comedian like Carlin, I'd suggest Sam Kinison, specifically on Marriage or World Hunger. The best videos for those would be "Sam Kinison on British TV" or "Sam Kinison's" First appearance on David Letterman"

I second the recommendations for Kinison, but if you are not really aware of him, fair warning....don't go in with your speakers blaring. He tends to scream a lot and can easily rupture an eardrum if you are not careful.

I think what he's getting at is that our culture and society is NOT conducive to an effective democracy. Which I completely agree with (and it's part of the reason I don't vote, too), but as soon as you suggest democracy isn't the greatest invention in the history of thought, everyone calls you a monster or claims you want a dictatorship or says you're just lazy and selfish. So.... yeah. Carlin was right, but no one wants to hear it.

To be honest, I was expecting some of your opinions, because you Do have an election going on right now...
It's better that they don't open that door ...especially since elections are going on right now. If they voice their opinions on the matter then it opens the flood gates, and regardless of how they feel they will not be able to please everyone. We all have seen how outta of hand this election year has been and how some have taken to hearing others voice their differences of opinions.

The problem is not that people have differing opinions - its that they dont want to Listen to the ones opposing theirs, and if we want Any kind of positive outcome for us as a species there is No way around a civil debate where we listen, instead of waiting for our turn to speak.
Trust me I understand where you are coming from.... hell I kind of wanted to hear their opinions on the matter too, but I think that it was better that they didn't give it. They are still trying to build a following so it is better to not have to deal with someones rage for not understanding that everyone is entitled to an opinion. Cancel culture is real, and when you have nothing to back you up it's best to not get seen in a negative light especially if you don't want to deal with the heat of it. They are being smart by keeping certain things to themselves.

I've always liked Carlin's semantic appeasement to those who actually believe everything
he says should be considered truth und correct fact when most often he surely wasn't. As
only one example he refers to Christian Proverbs in one of his routines to be something of
worthy note to practice when he also has another comedy routine condemning religion und
any belief in a God. Most of his comedy was contradiction depending on the current popular
narrative he chose to appease.
Carlin has always appeased whatever was the popular conspiracy of simple-minded
demographics, making fun of such ignorance, who seemingly were among those Americans
suffering 2 generations of self-inflicted "No Child Got Left Behind" public school non-education
und "Phobia Disorders" of Conspiracy who will believe almost anything that just anyone
wants to show them.
Comedy has always been more well received by the more common mentality und Carlin
was an expert at exploiting such ignorance in relating to those less scholar rationality.
Everyone I know in many countries realize Carlin was blatantly incorrect about most things
he exceedingly over-exaggerated, but sadly quite many Americans und others around the
world actually took him seriously believing his words to be gospel when he wasn't und they
shouldn't. Such ist the ignorance of humanity sometime.
Carlin's comedy routines were most often wrong about most things he spoke about, but
they were definitely funny insinuation that made him a true icon who caused us many laughs
while speaking of things most others would not und making us think as a result.
This in itself most probably caused change in the mindset for many's benefit.
RIP Mr. Carlin...You will be missed. :-)

When Carlin started on the "I don't vote" "fuck hope" business, that's when I got off the train. Because you can tell it's more than just a comedy bit. He puts a funny spin on it, but deep down, he really believes his own bullshit. He expanded on the whole concept in the intro to his book Brain Droppings, where he said "I enjoy describing how things are, I have no interest in fixing them." Maybe that makes sense if you're an old man like Carlin who won't live long enough to see the consequences of what you're preaching. But you can draw a straight line between "giving up hope because it's the cool rebellious thing to do" and all the horrible stuff we're seeing today in 2020.
Who actually does this kind of comedy well is Dave Chappelle. He's funny, he makes you think, and he doesn't need to pretend to be all cynical for it to work. Chappelle is the opposite of cynical. He has enough money that he could live comfortably for the rest of his life without ever working again, enough money that he could say racism and political corruption and all the other themes he covers are someone else's problem, but instead he's all about staying engaged in building a better world. That's something you can enjoy without feeling icky about it afterwards. And the proof is, who is Chappelle's audience today? All kinds of people, men and women, all races, religions, ethnicities, gay, straight, across the board. And who is Carlin's audience today? Mostly Internet trolls and edgelords.
@Cfc7ninja 12 But there's a difference between enjoying Carlin's comedy and buying into his bullshit philosophy of life. Carlin's great when he's in joke telling mode. I've busted a gut laughing at his routines about how we use the English language, and all the new cultural trends that piss him off. But when he gets up on his soapbox to preach about politics or whatever, it's just the most embarrassing juvenile crap that's easily debunked by anyone who really knows what they're talking about. And like I said, you can tell he's not joking and he really believes what he's saying.
And yes. When you go on social media and you see those memes with Carlin quotes about "I don't vote" and "the system is fucked" and "you have no rights", nine times out of ten the guy who posted it is a basement-dwelling 4chan troll or Guy Fawkes mask wearer.
