Wow. This was beyond helpful. I just moved into my first home and have been learning the sprinkler and drip system around the property. The previous home owners left a note about sections and which were on/off and I was worried the drip system was broken because I had not seen it turn on. I now know everything I need to know and followed along with your video step by step, pausing and rewinding as needed. You guys are awesome thank you so much!

Oh. My. God. Gary's Sprinkler Repair. You are a life SAVER!!!!! I know you only have 35 views on this video so far, but to me, you are a celebrity right now. It's almost 1:00 f*cking AM, I have to leave for a trip tomorrow early in the morning, and my SlimDial got accidentally unplugged! AHHHH!!! I'm gonna be gone for two weeks and I live in the desert! So I had no idea how to figure out the damn Manual Program Cycle to figure out which zones were which to re-program the thing before I left, because there is one zone that I'm not running right now, but I couldn't remember what number it was!!!! I could not figure that all I had to do was spin the dial back up to "Run" and it would go. Before this video, I was like "oh man, if I can't figure this out it's gonna be a huge f*ckin hassle. I'm gonna have to call Hutcheson's Sprinkler Repair tomorrow from the middle of I-5 on my drive (where there is no reliable service... Eff you Sprint!), tell them how to get in my house, explain the whole damn thing on the phone about not running the one zone, and it wou;d have cost me like 50 bucks probably. Hi Gary, I have the exact same IRRITROL SLIM DIAL and when I turned on my sprinkler for the first this morning, I note that water was gushing through the outside water tap outside my house, but nothing came through the sprinklers yet. So, I immediately ran to my basement to turn off the sprinkler water tap (lever). Should I leave my IRRITROL SLIM DIAL on "run" for several hours and in doing so, will water in the system comes through even if my sprinkler tap (lever) in the basement is now turned off? I am just wondering if there is now water in my sprinkler system from this morning? I don't mind watering the yard with buckets of water for now because I don't have time to fix the outside water tap where water was gushing through. Thank you so much.
Sounds like your referring to the sprinkler valve outside. Might need to be replaced before you’re able to use your timer. Turning the timer to off will prevent it coming on and flooding anything until you’re able to get it fixed.

Hi Gary, I have this model and it does work under the regular time/day program but if I try to run it in manual mode it sometimes works. That makes it hard to winterize it when it is being temperamental. Would you have a recommendation on a timer to replace this one? I only have two zones. Thanks!
I just moved into a new house and found this. I don’t even know if my sprinklers work. Im going to buy a rancio. Is there any way to just do a quick “test mode”
It doesn’t have a test mode, just turn the dial to Manual, then add time using the plus button, turn the dial back to run/ auto position. Repeat for other zones using the next button to move to zone #2 add time turn dial to run etc
I hate this timer. I prefer the orbit easy logic or whatever they are called. So much more user friendly. This timer was frustrating me until I watched this video. Thank you sir! God Bless
Do these go bad? Station 2 wasn't working even when I did the manual so I had to have valve replaced it still wasn't coming on so person I hired switch 1 with 2 on timer . now it worked one day and not working. So I manually turned on 1 from timer it worked now 2 doesn't work . I'm so frustrated I could cry and I am so low on funds calling people out. Do I need a new timer?
You don’t, they would all need to be wired to the same spot on timer. This timer isn’t designed to run multiple zones at one time. Why would you need to run all of them at once?
I have 3 zones, the first two are working great, the third zone won't respond to the programming, it will go on when my husband turns the valve in the ground. What can we check?

I agree, my video discusses how to set the water days but failed to discuss odd/even. If you chose that option (odd or even)It will only water on those days.

Can someone help? When I try to manually turn my sprinklers on it’ll show me how many minutes remaining for that section than go back to the clock display 10 seconds later and nothing turns on? Was working fine yesterday now I can’t figure it out

@@demetri1651 turn the dial to manual, use the swoosh button to pick zone desired....look at the arrow on the left side of the screen to see your station 1,2 etc which one you want has the arrow on it. Next use the +\- button to add desired manual run time, turn the dial to run.
Leticha ticha the only thing you can do is unplug the timer and remove the 9 volt battery. After 1hour plug back in, if the problem persists the timer is no good.

Gary where is the back up battery? tried to find it to replace it.

Sounds like a wiring issue to me. Yes they go bad and this model is old
Check to make sure water days are all on, it might be set for every other day

More than likely a shorted solenoid
I did everything you explained but they don’t turn on when they’re scheduled to.

Check the power outlet, the timer will appear to work using battery but won’t turn them on
