- A marriage of the old and the new, I built the missing parts of this birdhouse out of wood from the tree it hung in for 30 years. I used the old hardware and sealed up the rotting wood to reuse it as the roof (I guess I'm technically a reclaimed/upcycled wood project guy now).

About Stillworks
I make videos of my daily shop life and all the crazy things I’m working on. That could be project builds, woodworking skits, more introspective stuff, and educational videos. Think of my woodworking as exactly what you do: Not specializing in one thing, rather cranking out whatever comes to mind, regardless of genre. Thanks for watching! - Навчання та стиль
Great video brother love the intro of the still works name hahaha
Oh and love the Lego lazer beams 😮
Thank you sir, trying to do different production studios each time, at least until I run out of ideas
@@Stillworks hell yeah brother. Your Editing is on point sir !
@Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks just trying to get a little better each time
Good build, video, and tips my friend! (it's me, Geoff, btw... you know, the janky one... testing out a new logo and branding this weekend...). Penetrating epoxy would have been a good choice for the old roof, would have helped stabilize it a little bit, and harden it up. The poly should hold fine and protect the outards out it though!
I like the logo man. I thought about penetrating epoxy or cactus juice but was worried the long cure time might mess with the lichen or the little bit of moisture in the lichen would screw up the cure. Idk though, time will tell if it holds up
@@Stillworks Thanks! A little more readable, and less "I got this sawblade off of a google image search" (even though my wife made it).
Not 100% sure on the lichen... I don't use epoxy on lichen much (read: at all). But it'd probably work. Let's leave that to a PhD student to figure out. :)
@@TheNewJankyWorkshop I’ll start writing up their grant proposal
Nicely done! You have given me the impetus to refurbish two bird houses that I made a while back and are in need of repair. 👍👍
Continuing on with the Movie Studio intros! Can't wait for ILLUMINATION!!!!! Awesome Bird-house-ess-ness and Chamferization of the bird hole! How's the bruised belly? Love the bit of nostalgia!
Haha, didn’t hit me too hard. I’ll survive to make another video
@@Stillworks I actually went, "OOOoooo!!" out-loud and cringed a little when I saw it fly. A buddy of mine did something similar and it left a hematoma that looked like a Rorschach Test
@@MJLWoodWorks and what did he see in that test. His father, and butterfly, or just an ink blot.
@@Stillworks a set of ovaries and fallopian tubes actually.
Awesome project revitalization my mom would have loved that!
Nicely done!
Thank you sir
I love the sentiment. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked it!
Very nostalgic. Great story. I enjoyed it very much.
I Appreciate that
Great video! And such a thoughtful gift for your mom!
Thank you Susan!
Great project and video. I love ones like these that have a really good story to them that’s personal to the creator. Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate that buddy
i enjoyed hearing about the built-in legacy. i do hope the birds appreciate the sentiment.
my father-in-law had to cut down an old Live Oak tree recently at their cabin in the Sierra Nevadas not far from Yosemite. I'm trying to convince him to have it cut into usable lumber so I can make something with it someday. will see.
Fantastic idea, kind of cool when you know something about the wood your using when it was alive
I loved this video.
Glad you enjoyed Terek!
I don't know if that roof is up to code but I like it none the less
I should have asked my HOA first…
Beautiful 😍
Thank you cuz. Keep an eye out for the Rube Goldberg machine video on Friday
@@Stillworks 😱 so excited!
