If you play around with the new Earth (earth.google.com/web/) I'd love to know what favorite places you visited. Here's one of my favorite places in the world (Lo first took me there): goo.gl/SnBMAA | Here's where I work, in Google's NYC office: goo.gl/C5lkBk | Here's the basketball team I love: goo.gl/0HLoQw
That's a big building. What's in there? I'll be visiting NYC in October. Aloha.
Nat and Friends The Android app update is not there for me yet... Can't play with roll the dice... :( Could be nice you make sure everyone can install the update before announcing it at Google. It's not the first time I experience early, not effective announcement and this is frustrating...
I just updated the app and the I'm Feeling Lucky feature is working for me. Sorry to hear it didn't work for you.
Nat and Friends Could you make sure the update rollout is finished next time, before announcing?
Hopefully the Chinese and Russian state people give the Google Earth plane people permission to fly over their cities so there can finally be 3D imagery of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Shanghai and Beijing for example.
1:01 "Google map is for finding your way , Google Earth is about getting lost" ... WOW
D E E P .
Lucas Santos I agree! I have a whole another level of respect for the Google Earth team after seeing this video
does the new web version keep crashing for anyone else?
Patternicity kinda late reply, but even with good internet it never opens.
if you are having issues with the new web edition, report it to the product forums. the new web edition is fairly new, and I'm sure someone will be able to help you. also I'm sure google's engineers would appreciate if you report your problems to them.
Seriously some of the most incredible technology I've ever seen
i agree

Render Forest what is my purpose
Render Forest
Render Forest its fake... cause the earth is flat!
pls Rockstar, i want this for gta6 map.
3 days just to get around
Rem Only 3 days? lmao
Bibis Product Placements GTA WORLD. the thought alone is giving me goosebumps.
Bibis Product Placements the game would be 1Petabyte
It would be too low poly
Amazing how far we have come.
We? Nah, just bigtech. And we are paying the price.

@@attilaviniczai7215 At least, We can use Google Earth for free😅
If Google would allow game makers to access the 3D material. The world as a game map...
DerParadonym I feel like there will be an API for that eventually if there already isn't one
DerParadonym Rockstar can make GTA 6 with that kind of technology to make the game so close or completely accurate to real places.
Given the level of detail the earth planes capture I bet Rockstar would have to fly around each block ~30-40 times to meet their requirements of detail - but with a little manpower to correct the 3D material behind... It could be an affordable way of doing this.
DerParadonym flight simulators would benefit. just like ex. FlightGear, which uses it's own (crappy) maps and downloads them in real time. X-Plane is good but still requires a lot of work. just imagine flying over your neighborhood where your house is in 3D and has proper texture instead of generic "it's an urban area so we will slap there some houses and put Autogen 3D models" approach
Rockstar actually used this technology in "GTA V" to build Los Angeles map
I still remember when Google earth came out and every single person would look up their own house instead of anywhere else on earth haha
ha i still do that
Thats weird to you?
I still remember when mirrors were invented and every single person would look at their own faces every day
Searches up my address:
My house is completely flat and only about two blurry pixels.
yay...
Derek Bryceson my house is 3d
ok
I can see my bedroom window and backyard in 3d. scary.
@@kleropunt277 but your Instragram stores your photo coordinate :P
lol
im the type of person that whenever i use this app i only look at my house
Yehh i also 😂
We all do
WOW. This is insane
👋
I dig this stuff. These 3D cities are awesome.
I'm really happy all the buildings have textures now. In the old one I would often find grey boxes instead of buildings.
And that's because the old method required buildings to be modeled and uploaded by hand, by users. Now the computer does all the work!
GrijzePilion Yeah, I just wish Google Earth Pro used the same tech.
I didn't even know about this online Earth tool until just now. I still use the ancient desktop app for my explorations. Glad that's largely obsolete now.
GrijzePilion Google Earth Online litteraly came out today :D That's why google sponsered this video.
But the most important question: Is the flight simulator still in it? :P
Only the desktop application :)

The last part about how the planet is alive and all the timelapses you were showing really caught me off guard and gave me a new perspective of planet earth!
This is one of the most amazing videos I have ever seen in my life. Thanks for creating this video. Just seriously...wow!
this makes me stay at home even more and take a vacation and explore the world without even leaving my house. DIY, how to take a free vacation
Thank you Lo for motivation and everything you learned us.You replied to every of my comments(I watched you from the beginning).I hope we will see you sometimes in videos, but I also wish you luck for your next projects.Thank you! 💙🍩
I love the vibe of the channel. It's very positive, educational, entertaining and relaxing to watch. We're going to miss Lo but I'm sure Nat will keep on the great work!

I have loved Google Earth since its earliest days. I have fond memories of playing with the flight simulator and scarcely remember the feature being an Easter egg of sorts; only available in the desktop version of Google Earth. It was such an ominously realistic experience to fly that mock plane, equally as mesmerising as the Earth program still is to this day! I sure miss that flight simulator, but I'm also overjoyed to see how Google Earth has evolved through the years. It is absolutely one of my favourite ways to get away.
Nat and Friends, thank you so much for sharing this episode. And, more thanks for all the exciting and entertaining things you bring to this channel.
Google Earth VR is so fun because all of the 3d models are really well made and it feels like your really there
When I first noticed the 3D feature I spent a lot of hours just looking at the world.
am I a nerd if watching the new Google Earth made me cry?
Rui Ning Wang you're awesome 😙
Rui Ning Wang
Yup, and that's a good thing : )
No, but it makes you gay
No, being nerdy is about informational specialization, not crying every time you see a pretty picture that's called mental instability.
When you finally find out the earth is FLAT, what are you going to do?
in 30 years well have a 4k 3d live map of the earth
4k isn't much on a scale of the size of the earth. In fact, the entire map is 800 billion pixels large at the moment (5:42)
Moore's law. I bet it'll take less than that. Drones, more advanced satellites, and better technology to come.
ramen noodle 4K? the whole earth? you wouldn't even recognize where land and water is... one pixel would be like 50 cities 😂
that is what i was thinking, the pictures then would be amazing, imagine the zoom and depth of the images then!
Fabio Mota I think he probably meant that somewhere in the future we'd able to do a 3D landscape walk-through with 4K resolution anywhere we go. So just like a game.
Please, never stop with these videos. Especially the ones about Machine Learning / AI. Always continue, please.
I cannot describe how much I enjoyed this video. I love the team who made this video. Thank you!
I always thought they used the depth images from normal street view combined with satalites at an angle. Never thought they used planes for 3D mapping. That is pretty cool.
Outstanding presentation as always . Big thanks for this video 🙏
This channel deserves more subscribers! Just because it has that positive vibe! The educational stuff featured are just bonuses!
So much hard work to let everyday folks know more about our planet... I'm spellbound.
OMG.. what amazing content! subscribed!!
just a wow technology.. love it too much
3D mode in Google Map is still blown my mind! i cant stop talking how cool that stuff is

This was the first video that I've seen from them and I absolutely love the vibe of this channel. Looking forward to more!
Cheers to you guys!
Awesome video. Mahalo.
0:54 I feel small, really really really small. We're nothing lol
I love this. I often use it for looking at some place of interest and then I end getting lost in exploring the surrounding areas. It is true when that guy talks about 'getting lost'.
Google Earth is one of the most awesome softwares out there and it is better than ever today. This video is one of the most informative media about it I've ever stumbled upon.
really love your videos😁
Awesome video=))))) Great!!!!
Wow. One of my favorite videos. And so much respect for Google for venturing into these awesome projects.
This was very interesting to watch. Specially because Google Earth is such a seemingly trivial program, and to see everything that goes into making it its quite impressive. Thanks for sharing this with us!
NAT and firends 💖 things gonna be different from now on .
cutie marshmallow l love to be difrent 😆
Who can even possibly dislike this video. Amazing stuff. Wow, thanks Nat. The question that always bogged me was how calm there were no people and very little cars in the 3d view. And the answer was much simpler than I thought as you elegantly illustrated with a cool eraser. In a few years/decades this technology will get so good and will be complemented by unbelievably powerful computing power that we will simply prefer if earth was more like Google Earth than the other way around. It's always spring!!
Just wanted to say Thanks to Google earth team for this! We need this! The timelapse thing, earth engine, is really interesting.
Wooow that's awesome, amazing work, love the edit, love the pace, very insightful, amazing !
i love google earth but could u make more cities like shanghai and dubai 3d?
redfox gaming Dubai would be amazing
redfox gaming they probably don't have a permission to do that in china
They can't because it will take them a long time to erase all of the cars and peoples lmao
and I would like to see the Burj Khalifa in 3D
redfox gaming I want Dubai in 3d
Except all google related stuff is banned in China. For real, no google maps, no google search engine, no gmail, no youtube.
"Two towers".
I remember when New York had that luxury.
Two Towers, Piazza di Porta Ravegnana, Bologna, Metropolitan City of Bologna, Italy
I haven't used Google earth in years, this video makes me wants to go back and experience Google Earth again! 😊
Incredible video, very well done!! Also that first quote is so good.
guys...what if the moon landings were faked on the moon? #MINDBLOWN
Zeugma you never know. The government can do anything and we'll believe them.
Zeugma that's like the cheating thoughts from last Matt Parker's video on numberphile
That would be like expecting hundreds of thousands of people keeping a secret. Impossible. Not even improbable.
EVOLICIOUS you do know sarcasm?
It would mean the artist who faked the earthrise photograph did a damn good job without access to computers capable of rendering the image.
**Can view and explore any place on this planet**

Lul
Lots of work thank you guys
cool work, and very nice video: i was looking for these informations!
i know it's kinda late but i think google should release google flat earth for april fool
In fact, yes, you're right! Redimensionning the sphere in a flat circle where antarctic is the border of the circle, will make distances and houses much bigger as they are south and much little as they are north!
April fools is about pranking others, not talking about the fools lol
Koalas funny how you’ll never ever see an airplane in the sky anywhere even though there are thousands upon thousands. But you can spot your vehicle in your driveway. Things that make ya go hmmmm 😎
Why you remove Ipoh 3D Imagery 😭😭😭
How the humanity has gathered ressources and expand cities in the past 30 years is amazing and also deadly crazy.
Too much work have been done here, great job!
WHY WAS MY HOUSE NOT FUCKING UPDATED
So this is why 80% of the globe is still 2D
It takes a long time to get the 3D photos and is expensive... did you even watch the video?
It's only in the powerful cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and in other powerful countries.
lul what do you mean its everywhere go to google earth right now and zoom in and like 70% of places are full 3d
There are various softwares that can generate terrain from anywhere on Earth with images from Google. You can make 3d models with Google Earth images projected on top with Photoshop.
Thank you so much for this video. I'm learning about photogrammetry and remote imaging in school and your video really made it click for me. Very interesting stuff.
Thank You Nat
my google earth on android hasn't changed from the previous one
Diego Trujillos Martinez they haven't done that yet. Only on pc so far
I want there to be a game in the future when the 3D imagery is insanely detailed that utilizes Google earth to make an open world - world game.
Kudos to the animator. Great work!
omg!
i screamed when i saw you used Puerto Rico as your start point at the begining
we'll miss Lo
Madi Myrzabek where did she go
watch the previous video
who gave them permission to 3d render the entire world?
Each individual country, for example India hasn't given them permission to render it in 3d
I didn't give them permission to 3d render my house.
Manda 3D Projects well you didn’t even gave them permission to photograph your house for google maps
You don't own the air over your house
wow the graphics are beautiful
Thankyou for sharing this.
What is Google?

like "big brother is watching" XD
It's a letter of the Alphabet.

Google Earth on VR? This is getting sick serious...!!
What an amazing video! Beautifully made!
Thank you for continuing the channel
I bet this sh*t makes flat earth people go crazy! 😅
NewDrew2 I think these flat earth people are just trolls who love getting on people's nerves.
I don't think my country is feeling lucky.... sad to see no Google Earth app in India.
NewPlay WTF dude, at least he doesn't need education like you do
NewPlay According to NCAER, India's middle class population was 267 million last year. I don't know where you live but this may help you understand the contrasts in equity in our societies world wide. www.theatlantic.com/amp/article/518880/
Government has banned GOOGLE EARTH.
Akshay Sheth my sympathies. Perhaps you should take this up with your local MP.
Because major areas of India are covered with Pollution and dust.. It's very hard to take clear pictures and 3D map it..
Only Google Maps Works..
And government has also recently restricted it, Because of terrorist activities...
2008 Bombings in Mumbai were also planned with the help of Google Earth..
This is mindblowing.
Amazing. Love Google Earth. Tku to all who put this WONDERFUL Technology together
If this uses all those angles, why doesnt my city have this? (The Netherlands)
Takes a long time to do, bigger cities like Amsterdam and Utrecht do have this feature but smaller ones like Ede don't.
I'm sure The Netherlands is a country btw
but why? as in why would a company invest hundreds of millions into making their map look better? I feel like google is keeping a secret from us.
Google is investing in the future, like street view, this will come commercially important thing.
And as a side product, we are getting a beautiful archive of the earth to explore and to look at.
There is a huge market for geographic data and the processing and visualisation of said data. Governments, landowners, architects, mining companies, etc. Also, it's not like Google is doing all that by themselves. Most of the imagery is bought from satellite operators, government agencies and other mapping companies from around the world. Their unique capability lies in the stitching, computer vision and rendering algorithms that enable them to offer such a stunning result.
Google is working with the government to be able to track everyone.
Sam202 Government? You know that U.S isn't the only country in the world.
Miguel, humans have been trying to make better maps forever. There is a HUGE amount of stuff you can do - other than sell ads - with good maps. For example, with the 3D depth maps built from the lidar data combined with annually averaged cloud cover data and the orientation of a building relative to the sun, you can make good estimates on how much solar will help. Do that at scale and you reduce dependence on power. You can detect illegal deforestation and fishing to help keep our natural resources alive. There's lots of corny, feel-good stuff and there's an entire group at Google that's doing it and helping partners like NGOs do it worldwide. See www.google.com/earth/outreach/special-projects/
Disclosure: I was part of that corny-sounding group when this video was released and worked on Earth for 12 years, so I actually believe this stuff.
Super useful guys, thank you!
Very informative! Awaiting more such videos..
google anyone?
why not use drones instead of planes?
Drones are planes. Just remotely controlled ones. I think it would be a legal challenge in many places, while you can get permission to fly a regular plane with people in there relatively in easy in most countries
range
You'd need very big drones to carry stuff like those cameras..
+BMicraft I think they will face the same legal challenge if this is the point.
In my opinion, the drones won't be suitable because they can't carry big cameras and batteries. The pilot can maneuver with the plane better when he/she is sitting in it. But maneuvering a huge drone remotely can be a serious challenge.
As far i know, they're good for small areas
Why? Because HQ cameras are kinda heavy, and the most expensive drones can have 30 min batteries (while a plain can fly for MANY hours)
Check any video of "drone photogrammetry" and you'll know what i talk about
this was super coool... 👍 great job Nat.. 👏👏👏👏
Loved the start of the video... the first image is from Old San Juan, Puerto Rico 💪
