If he could have stayed healthy i think he was on track for a hall of fame level career. Really unfortunate that he couldn't stay on the field much after his first few seasons

Then as the bears were making a comeback they wanted back in but security wouldn't let them. Haha! When Mike Brown ran it in to the end zone he didn't stop. He just kept on running into the tunnel to the locker room. The look of shock on the browns fans faces🤣🤣😂😂. Thank you for posting this!
Well..as a Cts fan the Cotls were beating the Vikings in Minnesota 33 to 0 at Halftime...it was tied at 36 after reguatlation amd Colts lost 39 to 36 in OT....now thays a HUMONGOUS collapse
Yeah, I mean, catching a ball that was deflected right to you and then running 25 yards of open field is just so hard. That's an easy way to spot true greatness.
At 10:45 when you can hear the stadium's sound system play "Chicago" by Frank Sinatra, something about that made me feel chilled. I haven't been to many Bears games but I used to attend Chicago Bulls basketball games on the regular because my dad worked at the United Center, and we got a special discount on season tickets. They'd play that song before the game started every time. Hearing it play in Soldier Field was like a ghost I had forgotten about coming back.
The 2001 and 2005 Bears both had the best scoring defense in the league. They gave up a total of 203 points in ‘01 and 202 points in ‘05. The 2001 version relied on the best run defense in the league but the 2005 defense was most efficient at stopping the pass making life miserable for opposing quarterbacks. Chicago surrendered 10 touchdowns threw the air and picked off 24 passes in 2005. They were extremely stingy when it counted most (except in the playoffs) both years. In 2005 the Bears gave up a league low 13 red zone touchdowns on 40 opportunities while they allowed only 15 such touchdowns on a league low 34 chances in 2001. Both defenses were murder on 4th down as they allowed just four successful 4th down attempts in 17 tries in ‘01 and then gave up six 4th down conversions in 20 attempts in ‘05. Both teams earned a first round bye as the second seed in the NFC. If you ignore the final game of the 2005 season in which Chicago rested it’s starters then both teams went on to give up more points in a divisional round defeat than they had during the entire regular season. Both teams had bad quarterbacks, obviously.
The 2005 bears defense was good but got exposed in the playoffs. Couldn't get a decent pass rush going, and nobody with the speed or capability to stop Steve Smith. 2001 team was fun to watch, but I've always felt like they overachieved that year. They won a couple games that they probably shouldn't have, and if I remember correctly they lost both games against the packers that season. The eagles were just a much more complete team than they were. And yes, with better quarterback play and coaching, obviously

2001 was the first Bears full season I watched as a kid. I was 9 years old. Been a fan ever since. So many great games that season. Watching this was very nostalgic. Bear Down.
Oh, yeah. That game against the Chicago Bears. In Week 8 with 32 seconds left in the Fourth Quarter, the Browns were leading 21-to-7 when Shane Matthews delivered this pass to Marty Booker in the endzone, followed by a Paul Edringer extra point to bring Da Bears within a score. Then, the Bears recover the onside kick, then with no time left, Matthews delivers this HUGE pass to James Allen for the touchdown, and another Edringer kick sends this game into overtime. In OT, well...I'll let this image speak for itself. The Browns went from a potential 5-2 record and a possible playoff spot to only winning three more games during the rest of the season afterwards.
fun fact: bottlegate was a few weeks later. the bears were able to run another play after a sketchy catch but when the browns did the same a few weeks later they didn’t count it

Im a Chicago boy living in VA since 94. I got uniform pants sox from the bears when they changed vendors home & road versions so i can suit up & give my everlasting loyalty to my beloved bears during games. I was suited up watching this very game in my home that night. When the comeback started I got stoked but when the crazy shit to win the catch by Allen the the pick 6 by brown happened I went full goose bozo & almost tore my home apart in elation. Watched this at home in absolutely disbelief ... but was very happy! I'll never forget how Mike Brown ran that ball in for the TD and just kept runnin', and said, 'I am Outta here!', and ran right down the tunnel .....
Even though he was a bust, I felt terrible for Tim Couch after watching this. His defense and special teams choke and then he falls victim to one of the most unlucky tipped balls imaginable. His face at the end says everything.
I was at this game, 4th grade me, first Bears game in my life and my father made us leave early when they were down 21-7. We waited for the train all the way until the end of the game and all I remember is being outside the stadium listening to the crowd roar 🤦🏾♂️😠

Between this finish, Dwayne Rudd ripping off his helmet and costing the Browns a win against the Chiefs, and the events that led up to Bottlegate (basically the refs breaking the NFL's rules on instant replay to take away the Browns last chance to win against the Jaguars) the 2001 Browns just seemed like a cursed team.
I forgot what game I was watching that had ended, and then cbs tuned into the broadcast of this game, basically at this point In regulation, and I remembered that they had just beaten the Niners in OT from Brown’s pick-6, and thought that there was no way that the Bears were gonna come back in this game, then the onside kick happened, then the Hail Mary, then: Mike Brown… A magical year for the Bears. It’s too bad this team had to crash into Andy Reid’s Eagles in the Divisional round. Of course, who knows how Urlacher and the other midway monsters would’ve defended against the greatest show on turf in the NFC championship
I don't know if Mike Brown was a HoF player or not, talent-wise. But I do know this- If Brown was more durable and had played 10-12 years, someone out there would be making a case for his selection.
Um, like having a 17 point lead in a playoff game IN Pittsburgh in 2002 and only rushing THREE?!!! Then "Botch" throws DC Foge Fagio under the bus for the loss......
This collapse directly led to Bottlegate a month later. If the Browns had won this game, they wouldn't have needed that one to get into the playoffs. And the situation of the fans feeling that the refs just screwed them out of the playoffs turned the scene extremely ugly. But it wouldn't have happened had the Browns taken care of business here.

This game, and the 49ers game the week prior, ruined me as a Bears fan, because to this day, I still have hope that they can pull off a win even if they are down 14 points with 30 seconds left. Hey, they did it before. Maybe they'll do it again. Often they don't.
The Bears winning 13 games with Jim Miller and Shane Matthews and then 13 more in 2006 with Rex Grossman deserves a 30 for 30.

Even though he was a bust, I felt terrible for Tim Couch after watching this. His defense and special teams choke and then he falls victim to one of the most unlucky tipped balls imaginable. His face at the end says everything.
7:02 “Matthews’ game-tying TD pass was the final pass he threw during the 2001 season”
Proceeds to show him throw two passes in OT
I was just thinking about this game!!!! Swear I was going to look for it on UA-cam yesterday and u post this yesterday! Unreal
I was at this game, 4th grade me, first Bears game in my life and my father made us leave early when they were down 21-7. We waited for the train all the way until the end of the game and all I remember is being outside the stadium listening to the crowd roar 🤦🏾♂️😠
Sorry to hear that. I was at the game also but i refused to leave! Glad i stayed! I remember Mike Brown ran it into the endzone and didn't stop. He just kept going into the tunnel to the lockerroom. That place went crazy!!
Don’t feel bad - I’ve left Bears games early and they still got beat 😂
As a 49ers fan, I already knew where this was going...

The awareness to tip it forward deserves some credit.Probably wasnt entirely intentional but it looks like he knew not to let it behind him where the whole browns defense was.

I was at the game with my three brothers and it was a cold night and when we thought we were going to lose we left soldier field and listened to the radio and we can't believe what we were hearing. The Bears made a comeback and won. Shame on us to leave 🤦♂️
I remember some fans that left that tried to get back in when they heard the bears were making a comeback were not allowed back in...
Who is here after the Browns blew a 13 point lead to the Jets in the final two minutes 😂
me
In that game vs the Jets, the Browns had a 99.9% win probably and still shit the bed. Lol.
Senior year in high school....as a browns fan what more could i expect? Dwayne Rudd Week 1 2002 lol
This game is a microcosm of the Browns organization over the last 65 years.
like yogi berra said, “it ain’t over till it’s over.”
Only the browns can allow this to happen 💀

You said it
Between this finish, Dwayne Rudd ripping off his helmet and costing the Browns a win against the Chiefs, and the events that led up to Bottlegate (basically the refs breaking the NFL's rules on instant replay to take away the Browns last chance to win against the Jaguars) the 2001 Browns just seemed like a cursed team.
You say the Hail Mary was the last throw Matthews threw for the season than show him throwing passes in overtime. 😂😂😂
I remember watching this movie Da Bears!
The most Browns way to lose a game. The most Bears way to win a game.
I forgot what game I was watching that had ended, and then cbs tuned into the broadcast of this game, basically at this point In regulation, and I remembered that they had just beaten the Niners in OT from Brown’s pick-6, and thought that there was no way that the Bears were gonna come back in this game, then the onside kick happened, then the Hail Mary, then: Mike Brown…
A magical year for the Bears. It’s too bad this team had to crash into Andy Reid’s Eagles in the Divisional round. Of course, who knows how Urlacher and the other midway monsters would’ve defended against the greatest show on turf in the NFC championship
Losing Colvin really hurt this defense. If they could've kept him with Urlacher and Briggs I think they won in 06 or another year with that defense
To the patriots.....
those famous words said by the commentator "Mike Brown had done it again!"
Imagine the payout for the Bears to come back had Fanduel existed back then. 😮
I don't know if Mike Brown was a HoF player or not, talent-wise. But I do know this-
If Brown was more durable and had played 10-12 years, someone out there would be making a case for his selection.
I was at this game man was it cold
Mike "rite place rite time" Brown. All i got to say.
Butch Davis did a very good job turning the Browns around considering where they were prior. But they lost some games in the strangest ways.
That’s what butch davis gets for promising all the Miami players and recruits parents he wasn’t leaving for the browns then leaves weeks later.
9/18/22....Hold My 🍺
Thanks UA-cam for recommending this to me right before we play the Bears again.
😂
INTERCEPTED AND THE BEARS ARE GONNA WIN IT!
Mike Brown has done it AGAIN!
Mike Brown saved the bears season in back to back games in 2001
Came to see this after my Browns melted down again last Sunday.
Since the reactivation of the Browns, we are 4-1 against those “same old Browns😂) GO BEARS and Mike Brown 4 life!!!!

Fuck what a come back...
Hell of a way to lose a game. In fact, it reminds me of how the Bears can let a game get away from them.
He'd be a Hall of Famer if not for being plauged by injuries in his career. Legend.

Video @ 7:48 *Matthews attempts two more passes*
Ppl talking about Mike brown but that bears onside kick was nasty af
I felt so, so bad about how Mike Brown went out. The Bears were so much better when he was healthy. I wonder what became of him.
Just imagine if Twitter was around back then for this game.

Think Seattle came over from the AFC too. It feels like so long ago.
And the Browns somehow outdid this yesterday vs the Jets
The Browns always historically have found ways to outdo themselves. Lol.
The fans that stayed till the end were treated to a gem of a comeback. My ass would have been gone 💀
And the Browns did it again
Classic Browns...both figuratively _and_ literally.
The most browns way to lose a game
I love hearing Greg Gumbel and Simms on CBS as much as Summerall and Madden on CBS/Fox
UNBELIVABLE ENDING
More of these!
I remember this well, even though I was drunk by the 4th quarter.
The 2001 Bears are the unlikeliest 13 win team ever
How did they do they ended up that season? All I know was that my patriots won the super bowl in 2001.
@@1990Thunderbolt lost their first playoff game
@@jasonfire3434 typical bears lol
@@1990Thunderbolt You love your patriots Lol
Yup we’re bad the season prior with a bad defense. Went 13-3 randomly this year with a great defense, then sucked again next year with a bad defense.
Only the Browns could lose a game like this.
This was crazy. I also like the 2008 falcons bears ending check that one out with orton and ryan
The '01 Bears were more lucky than good.
So crazy!!! Bears were really good in 2001 due to their D!!! I miss their old D team back in 2000s!

the 01' bears did lose jim miller in the playoff game ... they woulda played the rams or whoever real tough especially at home i think bears were 13-3 in 01'
Those browns helmets look awesome
This game is why I still don't trust the Browns with a two touchdown lead...even with 30 seconds left in the game.
The faces starting at 9:52 had me in tears 😂

When you have a decent QB, you're 1/3 to being a good team.
This is the most browns thing possible
and the most bears thing ever to win lol
Browns coach should of kept his headset on his head
A classic
RIP Brian Robinson
This game, and the 49ers game the week prior, ruined me as a Bears fan, because to this day, I still have hope that they can pull off a win even if they are down 14 points with 30 seconds left. Hey, they did it before. Maybe they'll do it again. Often they don't.
