Regarding the split inputs, I've had no problem with a standard single-zone pad or trigger (currently use a Roland KT-10 kick pedal). But I tried a Roland PDX-8 dual-zone pad, and the unit only "sees" the centre zone, while the rim trigger is not registering at all. Any ideas? I know I could get a splitter cable and plug in two single-zone pads, but I presume a dual-zone pad should work!
I'm happy to correct both of us with this update: I now have both zones working from the dual-zone pad! The previous time I likely just didn't make sure the 1/4" stereo cable was fully inserted at one end. Doh! So, I now have the dual-zone snare in Inputs 3+4, the kick drum in one side of #1+2, and using a splitter will add a single pad to the other side. Oh of course have a synth pedal hi-hat footswitch in FS1. So many things to hit now! Also, one should check the various input types in Settings, as the very last one (CR...) only receives the centre trigger.
@@demonicsweaters thanks that's a great video but I meant loops from your own created samples (not pre-made ones). there seems to be a time lag between each iteration and I can't get rid of it.
I greatly appreciate your videos on this thing! I just got mine yesterday and am sorting out, and yeah the hi-hat setup is not intuitive and the manual does not help, but this video certainly did. I have one question: can a new kit be created, instead of just modifying a preset one? On page 4 of the manual it says "A. Shows P1-30, which is one of the 30 preset kits. C1-20 are user kits imported via USB memory stick", but there's no further info about it. Thanks!

Looks like it competes with the spdx! ive got an option for a second hand spdx for $750 or this for $450 au (price with stand and foot pedals). is there functions or playability that I would be missing out on if I got this? I would be loading full of my own samples, I just checked and it is 512mb internal storage. That doesn't sound like it would be enough?
The SPD-SX is going to give you much better editing, sampling, storage, performance, durability, sounds, and basically everything will be better. So if you have the means, I'd get it over the PD705. That being said the PD705s are excellent for the money, and I'm happy with mine.

As far as I know, they are not dual trigger inputs, but rather made to be split to add more single zone triggers.
