  • Today, I'm taking you on an adventure to the heart of Lampang, Thailand! 🇹🇭 Early bird style, we're hitting the streets and making sure we catch this city coming to life.
First stop: We're rolling out to check out the swanky road in Lampang that used to be home to the rich and famous. It's all about that history.
Then, we're diving headfirst into the town center. You won't believe how vibrant and real local Northern Thailand life is. But you know what really sets the stage? The morning market!
And here's the kicker - I was the ONLY foreigner in sight. It's like I stepped into a whole different world, way different from the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai.
So, come vibe with me as we explore this traditional Thai city.

Adding separately, this is a gr8 business model 'Off the beaten track series - towns of Northern Thailand rarely on the tourist radar' . visiting these places and interaction with the locals even via the lens of your camera, really interesting for sure. Great work Wayne 🤩

Yes, it is something that fits my style. I would rather get in amongst the people then go to temples and tourist places. I can't interact with them in Thai language, but as you mentioned, I can with the camera. Thanks man.

Lampang definitely has its own vibe and feel. Don't see Farang there because no girlie bars and loud music. Thanks for the walk.😎

Yes, that would have a big factor in it. Not much goes on in Lampang.

Loved this Wayne. So familiar with the rock star feel walking around non tourist Thailand. It is true that you become the centre of attention. Everyone looking and smiling and wanting to talk to you whilst the little kids hide, open eyed behind the parent's legs looking up blank faced as if you are the man from the moon having never seen a farang before. So funny. Brings back so many memories of the wife's rural town of Lukkae and its markets about 30 km outside Kanchanaburi in Thamaka district. I really do miss those trips back in the day. Will have to revisit sometime in the future. Noted soooo many Thais still getting around with masks on there. Wondering why these days post Covid. Interesting that. Cheers mate 🤩

It's a nice feeling being one of the only foreigners around. We don't get that in Chiang Mai and other places. Make me feel more alive. I think I prefer the quiet small towns over the well known places mate. Yes, still masks everywhere buddy, they just love wearing them. It puzzles me aswell. Thanks mate.

I think the dessert that a lady in the market gave you is Khanom Tien. People like to eat in many occasions.
The statue that you saw in the museum is The Great King Rama the Fifth (His Majesty King Chulalongkorn).
And if you want to take a photo of a white bridge, there is another famous one on the way back to Chiangmai. You shall pass if you ride back. That one is the white railway bridge in the middle of a field in Mae Tha, Lamphun. Have a good time.

Still a nice town with nice people Wayne, but I remember it from decades ago being poorer but peaceful and not as neglected looking, perhaps the money has went somewhere else? As you were walking around the streets, I had lunch with my friends who had family in America, and as we were waiting for our lunch, a Soy puppy dog started to choke to death on a chunk of hard, dry rice it found, but my friend's wife and her cousin (the young lady my Thai friends in America wanted me to meet), jumped to action, grabbed the Soy Puppy and one held it's mouth open while my lady friend rang her finger down it's throat until she removed the chunk of hard rice, both getting slightly bit in the process. I can't think of many places in the world where you find people who would do that.
I recall another example in Chiang Mai where I though a very aggressive Thai-Chinese restaurant owner brutally canned some Soy dogs that were pestering the customers, when very crippled young man crawled past the customers on his elbows and knees. And two French tourist ladies started demanding he remove the young man as he was spoiling their meal. An as the Restaurant owner barked something at the young man and grabbed his bamboo Cain he just used on the dogs, I though "I can't bare to watch this," as the French ladies continued with their demands the crippled young man be removed... But rather than use the cane on the young man, the restaurant owner used it one more time to shoo Soy Dogs away from the crippled may, as he told the French ladies to Shut up.
He then neglected his customers to bring out a short table and cushion for the young mad to lie on. He got the young man a drink brought him a dinner and sat and joked so the young man everyone was appalled by would not have to eat alone. On seeing that human to human act of compassion that the Restaurant owner took as routine and natural, I had too push back some tears seeing such compassion as the two French ladies, now humbled shed a few tears.
That was on of several experiences in Thailand, that changed me from the inside out, And more than any other country I visited in Asia had a unique duality where people (In the north at least) had profound sense of compassion and value of life for most things.
I had few unexpected heart-melting experiences of kindness in Japan as I did in Thailand changed my view and faith in humanity and helped from my love for Thailand and Japan. I've been away from northern Thailand a long time, but I hope that spirit of kindness that we might not see Vlogs is still there.
    Thanks "Chap" and Cheers!

I just compared what I copied before I hit the ''Reply' button to what was online and as I've seen before, some fragments of what I wrote are missing: "As you were walking around the streets, (... I recalled many years ago, a lunch in Lampang... ) I had lunch with my friends who had family in America..."
I've also had a couple of comments removed and was placed in 'Comment Jail' for esoteric comments on your channel about the places you've been and what you are sharing. I also got a YT warning that if I leave more such comments my channel will be Removed.
As this has happened on other channel. one where I simply commented ebikes, and another Refugee video expressing hope, Perhaps I'm being stocked and targeted, but if you don't see me around it's likely because I've been excommunicated.
