Can't fathom any other corporate rep giving away product and time for a show-and-tell interview while on vacation. I love how small film companies treat their customers. Meanwhile Kodak told me to pound sand when I tried getting a replacement for their naffed Dektol. Big props to James and Orwo

I spent my childhood shooting with Agfa CT18, 50asa colour transparency film. Now that teaches you to nail your exposure (very little latitude - about one stop if I recall), and shooting in the UK with 50asa teaches you to be creative with the light!!
Interesting to see that Orwo has its roots in Agfa. It's a shame that that didn't appear to produce a 120 stock, but I may be tempted to dust off one of my 'smaller' cameras and give it a go.

I have a 120 roll here. twice a year I was told they roll off a 120. I believe Potsdam 100 is the same stuff

@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Good to know, I'll be sure to add a couple of rolls to my next Analogue Wonderland order.
I use a lot of Lomography colour films along side the usual suspects, Portra and Cinestill, but have never looked at their B&W offerings.
      Thanks.

Yashicou 124 MAT G. Boli to krásne fotografické časy. Bol by som rád , keby sa obnovila výroba 120 a 220 filmov ORWO.

That was a really interesting video. It is interesting learning about the history behind Orwo and their films. I had only heard of them as part of the “Ostalgie”-movement when I studied German language and history a while back, and wasn’t aware it was still available. I’ll look it up. Thanks for another inspiring video.

Good interview and a lot of commitment of James Holcombe for the ORWO products.
I'm not sure if James Holcombe still works for ORWO as his Website and some other websites of your list have vanished or are outdated. But he seems to have been one of those representatives a (re-) start up company should really work with if they intended to step into the consumer market.
For me, ORWO prices are still beyond budget and the data sheets did not grow with time regarding the proposals for alternative developers.

    Hi
I am hoping to get some of this bulk film, and would like to know what sort of tape do you use to tape the film in the cassette.
As i have heard you should not use bulk loaded film in auto wind cameras , but you seem fine with the Nikon F5 .
Any advice you could give me would be most appreciated

    • @ShootFilmLikeaBoss
      @ShootFilmLikeaBoss  3 роки тому +2

Whatever sticks. I've used masking tape for mine but also used electrical tape and sellotape. As long as it slips into the cassette easily. I don't see a problem with auto rewind cameras. Only trouble being is it will take the film back into the cassette meaning you need to wreck it to get the film out. Unless you're using twist top cassettes. The F5 I can keep my finger on the rewind button and stop the rewind as I see the frame counter coming near to the end. Then I go in the darkroom and open the back and pull the rest of the film out. Just so I can save the cassette for another load.

YO !! ROGER !!! I am the Greatest ORWO Fan ! I used to order 10x50 meter NP22 bulk tins at a time from the company in REDHILL that imported ORWO and for my evening class Students I ordered 100 cassettes of ORWOCHROME UT18 . I used NP22 a lot for my local PRESS work -- the 400 ASA stuff was NOT so good though -- Soft and Grainy. Also I have some still ORWO NP15 very slow in 120 and 35mm and NP20 sent to me by a Kind Gent in DENMARK and that works well in RODINAL 1+50 . I rate the NP22 at 100 ASA not 125 but all mine is now well -OUTDATED so could do with some 'FRESH' I used to get 20x16" Exhibition Prints from NP22 and won 1st award at the Essex International Salon Southend-on-Sea ESSEX with one.

I tell you, I was literally so concerned that Bull would jump the gate so much so I was actually trying to figure out an escape plan. Which would have been to climb a tractor and wait for help. I was the only one there and the Bull kept popping his head over the gate to see what I was up to HA HA HA.
