    • @TymekStolarz
      @TymekStolarz  2 роки тому +1

      And thank you for the comment :) i havent tested photo very much, but it comes down to the buffer. how fast your camera can write from the buffer on to the card. a faster card will be able to just clear that buffer quicker allows you to take more pictures faster and for longer periods of time. even a basic v30 card has a decent buffer, but if you shoot subjects where you need to be able to hold that shutter button down for long periods, than a faster card might be necessary. i would suggest starting out with a v30 card and seeing if it fits your needs since they are so cheap.

    you could easily spend an hour more talking about these settings and the meanings of all the things you discuss here, without me grasping it ... Not your fault though, the scheme you made is very helpful, although still struggling to decipher it. I used to have a GH5 where i never had to deal with these codecs i think, it just makes everything look so much more daunting and even searching online doesn't clarify exactly why i should choose one codec over another ...

    • @TymekStolarz
      @TymekStolarz  Рік тому

      and thank you for the comment :) you can put any type of combination of cards in both slots. i typically only record to 1 card at a time, but the only time youd run into a problem is if u wanted to record to both cards at the same time, and you wanted to record in a format that the v60 wasnt fast enough, in which case it could only record to the v90

      so xavc SI 4k at 24 fps uses 240 mbps, which is 1.8 gb per minute. so 160 gb card would fill up in 88.8 minutes. at 60fps and 600 mbps, it would only last 35.5 minutes.

      hi there and im very sorry about the late reply - i think 4k just gives you more breathing room. you can crop in on a shot and still get the same quality as 1080. will everyone notice? probably not, but there are times where the 4k will just look crisper. i would suggest trying to shoot with both. if you have the space, and computer power to do 4k though i personally only shoot in it.

      so i wouldnt look at what speed the cards are saying because even cards that should have more than enough speed, may not work in a video format for what ever reason. i would look at what cards specifically work in what video format. you may need to bump up to the V60 cards.

      The camera will never hide options, regardless of card type used. It will just tell you if you are trying to record in a mode that your card cant support.
      For the A7 IV, the camera is unable to record 10 bit 4:2:2 s-HD 120 fps. it can only do 8 bit 4:2:0.

      S and Q mode slows down your footage right away, and doesnt record sound. so if you bring it into your editor, it will show 100% speed, but it will already be slowed down to 40% (for 60fps in a 24fps timeline). the bitrates are the exact same, so quality wise they should basically be the same.

    My Sony 7 IV is comming tomorrow and I just realised that the settings, like not having 30 fps in H.265 is just too weird. Also that you can't shoot at All Intra at 30 fps with the V60 is non sense, and there is the crop too in 4k 60p, even tho this camera shares the same processor than the A7s III. I feel like this camera is really bottlenecked by it's software, I am hoping for some nice updates in the future ;)

      congrats! its a great camera. it definitely is weird. it was the same for the A7S III and it still hasnt been added. There HAS to be a specific reason for it but i just have no idea what it was. if its arbitrary than shame on Sony for at the very least not fixing it given that im sure they've gotten feedback on it. as far as the crop goes i already have noticed some overheating issues, and given its massive resolution and lower grade processor (compared to the A1) i cant see them ever giving no crop 60. they also i think really wanted to keep market for the A7S III because a lot of people are fine with 60 and dont need 120.

      @@TymekStolarz The 1080p 120 fps on the A7IV is really really close in quality to the 4K 120 fps on the A7SIII. Somewhere here in UA-cam land you can find a video where a guy compared the two. Certainly for UA-cam videos, you really can't even tell the difference. He used the S&Q mode since it gives you 10-bit color.

      @@huntstyle Yes i would agree that once it goes through youtube, atleast depending on what compression youtube decides to give you, 4k and 1080, regardless of frame rate end up looking very similar. Personally i still shoot everything in 4k, and used to edit in a 4k timeline with 4k output, but with some of my more complicated projects i started to do 1080 timelines with 1080 outputs to make editing easier. although faint, i could in fact tell the difference between the two, i am not sure how much different a true 1080 recording, timeline and output would differ from a 4k recording, 1080 timeline and output though.

    I got this ugly artifact when shooting XAVC HS on a V60 Lexar card. It happens when I go from a brighter scene to darker scene quickly, and it's not from the ISO changing because I tried with a set ISO, and it still did it. Doesn't happen in XAVC S. I was wondering if this was the card, or the camera. I was thinking that V60 was the minimum for XAVC S, but I guess that's only S&Q. I suppose it's not a huge deal, as I can't really tell any difference between HS footage and S footage. But still, if it's a camera issue, this thing is too expensive to not work properly!

      That is very strange, and i've personally never seen it or heard anyone else have this issue, with any of the codec's. I have a video comparing HS, S, S-i and all the frame rates for the A7S III, which isnt as comprehensive as it should have been, but still compares the image quality and I couldn't see any differences. the problem with S is that you can only shoot 10 bit with 4:2:2, and i much prefer to shoot with 4:2:0. only option to do 4:2:0 and 10 bit is with HS.
