This guy is not lying. Petronea has been selling fakes for months now and ebay won't do anything about it. His fakes are getting better also, which sucks. People should message him on ebay.
Feel free to comment a warning like this one on any of my videos that pertains to vintage axes and I'll pin the comment. We get 3-4 million views a month. Also feel free to add a part that recommends ebay buyers complain to ebay and direct message "patronea" if you want. I've thought about doing a video about him, might just make something happen.
You pretty much covered it👍 I saw this coming a year ago. Eventually the intense craze would eventually fade to a degree. The common axe in the shed will still be appreciated but crazy prices no more. Rare Embossed stuff will hold steady but decrease somewhat. Early rare blacksmith marked interesting patterns be sought out. I am glad I never paid crazy prices for the tools I have. I stopped hunting like a banshee when Ridiculous prices became the Norm. Folks back in the New England area were -and still are in the best area for Axes and most Early Forged tools
Just found your page. Great stuff. Watched your episode on trailers left in the woods. Same issue here in Redding ca. I love finding old logging camps in the Shingletown area and finding stuff. Now it is not safe! I still go, just doing open carry.
As far as flea markets here In my area of New England I just got a plumb Connecticut for $10 which is about right. Last year I scored several axes 5-10 a piece that were axes I see on eBay for 100-150+. One was an LL Bean Hudson Bay with a tall pole and super old thin curvy handle. That was $5. Also a E&S Connie again on a thin d curvy handle and that company from Maine is one of my big targets for collecting. That same day I got a true temper on original handle that is absolutely stunner and a craftsman couple oval on original handle with blue still at the end. I have done better at the flea market than anywhere else as far as bang for the buck
Yup adding norlund tag to a junk Woodings Verona, or selling council tools for way more than new. Taking advantage of new collectors and highly inflating the market.
Hey man i commented on one of your videos I can't the video now to see your reply lol😂 i was curious if you anything about old axes with the letter A stamped on it ? Any info on it would be much appreciated
I’m not on Facebook either. I have a couple axe buddies that will send me to someone that’s local to me they find on Facebook. I scored a nice American axe & tool not sure if it’s a heavy poll Ohio or Connie or what but very nice axe. Also the flea markets and garage sales are where my best scores have been. There are a couple local guys on Etsy I can find decently cheap heads on.
If you're on eBay in the USA be very careful of a seller named Petronea. He has a lot of etched axes and they're nearly all faked with a laser.

I agree that now is a good time to buy. The utilitarian value of a Woodslasher Michigan is great.
Yes sir.

I’m in New England. We have some awesome axes from Maine New Hampshire Mass and Connecticut. Wicked spot.
Excellent Presentation ! Thank You For Sharing The Market Update. Asking Price And Selling Price Are Not Always Close In Texas.
👍
Do you find any Cedar paterns down in Texas?

I found Etsy to be hit or miss. I got a Plumb 2¼lbs for $20 and a Kelly Works Jersey for $25, but there are a ton of unreasonably priced axes galore.
Started collecting recently, can’t believe how much the prices have come down since I started looking.
New to the axe collecting. What are some of the desirable brands to look for.thanks in advance to any help.

Man your in a prime location. You see a lot of double bits?

Just watched a guy today on YT paid 5/5/6 for 3 axes with handles all in good condition. 16 bucks for 3 axes at a flea market.
Smoking deal!
I have bought a couple through auctions. Great folks to check out 😊
GREAT SHIRT!!!!! Go Sonora !!

The exact same thing happens here in the UK - I asked a guy at a car boot sale about an adze £40 wtf next row along same one £1
Ya, it's got to be something special for me to pay over $10-$15.
At Whiskey River
The poor buy when everyone is buying. The rich buy when everyone is selling.
I found that Facebook groups can be pretty good for bardering
Hey Jeff. Trading axes is a hard one for me, I want to keep all of them. You ever barter with the guys down under?
@@old_iron_axe_and_tool o ya just got a shipment couple days ago
