Agreed. Most ELO fans, hardcore ones that is, will know that the bit that immediately follows Twilight is 21st Century Man backwards, "Though you ride on the wheels of tomorrow", followed by a sampled pinball machine sound effect.
Oh please don't ever change!! I am a huge ELO fan, but you are just so brilliantly entertaining. I could watch your reactions all day long. You're a breath of fresh air. Love all your posts. Keep up the brilliant work 💯
You are about to embark on an incredible journey my friend. This album is the ultimate ELO experience. Yes, I was there when this album hit the shelves. Yes I was blown away. Yes this will make you wonder what the hell was this guy on while recording this awesome album. Your reactions are spot on and there is not a day that goes by without watching your channel. Very uplifting my friend. Stay cool and frosty regardless of what others hate.
Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU! I'm so glad you did this one, Mark! I've been an ELO fan for over 45 years and this tune still makes me giddy! You nailed the reactions every time. Here's to you, brother! Keep on going 👍
ELO are my favourite band of all time, Jeff Lynne is a musical genius and such a lovely humble man. TIME is my favourite album of theirs. Loved your reaction ❤😊
21st Century Man from that album, Danger Ahead and Bluebird from Secret Messages. Or just randomly select! You know there is a tour coming up, the last ever Jeff Lynne ELO tour later in 2024. The live show is just as brilliant, or more so. So far only US dates announced in August-September time. Hopefully there will be UK and Europe dates eventually. Sadly there will be no Richard Tandy.
I understand, the chord change, you are so good. You do such a good job of just picking random songs from a band. So happy I found your channel. Your energy so contagious!
Hi Brain Squeeze, love your reaction, absolutely cosmic 👍. Time my favourite ELO Album, a fantastic concept Album by the genius that is Jeff Lynne - Rock On 🎸🥁🎼🎹👍
From this album, I recommend the track, *"Yours Truly, 2095",* in which Jeff, who's inadvertently time-traveled from 1081 to 2095, tries sending letters back through time to his girlfriend back in '81, and in this particular letter, to let her know he's met another "girl". It's not only a great tune, it's hilarious lyrically, so I suggest you use a lyric video.
Decades really don't count when it comes to good music, ELO (ie Jeff Lynne) stand out in any decade, be it the 70s, 80s, 90s etc etc, great is still great whatever the artist, style, genre, decade etc.
"Prologue" and "Twilight" two great tracks from the phenomenal and prophetic concept album "Time". I loved the album when it first came out and still. Pure genius. Heck, just wait until the next track... "Yours Truly 2095" fires up 🔥. Brilliant, fundunkin' brilliant reaction. Merry Christmas 🙏😊👍♥️
Hey Mark Hector!!! Its me again. I'm totally enthralled by your reactions. (ELO by far my most veiwed) and was hoping a song from this album would be in your 80's reviewed. By far one of their best recordings to date. I was lucky enough to see ELO when they toured for this album on October 31st. 1982 at the St Paul Civic Center in St Paul. Mn (USA). Awesome concert. Awesome album. Thank you
My God I love this song! Never heard it either! Whoa! So good. Hey man, I noticed u put a heart on my request of like 7 months ago for "Fire on High" from ELO. Yeah, I STILL think it'll drive u mad with curiosity at the weird-ass first 1.5 minutes then the musical explosion (the GLORY! LOL) that follows! Now, it MIGHT be 70's song, so never mind, or mind, whatever! Now, a definite 80's tune that popped into my head that will ALSO drive you gleefully batshit is "Road to Nowhere." Talking Heads, babe, it's glorious!
I thought there was no way I could enjoy elo even more than I have for 50 years but watching you enjoy them makes me feel like I am back there keep it going do across the border from out of the blue thank you brain freeze 😊
Your intro was spot on. Yes, we don't need more fight or flight stress, and you were right to call it out. The entire TIME album is glorious, ELO's only concept album, each song leading directly into the other. Beauty awaits you on your journey. Love from a fan in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA.
I just love El Dorado in its entirety. But, then I love pretty much all Jeff Lynne ever did! I was just 19 and it was long after ELO was popular when I came home to my roommate with their headphones on like usual and they put them on me and Can't Get It Out Of My Head was playing. That's the first ELO I ever heard and was instantly smitten. I kept the headphones on and listened to the whole album lol! Huge fan ever since. I ended up finding a new copy of Out of the Blue on blue vinyl and it's still in the shrinkwrap.@@Stogdad1
I just love it! I have that one and OotB on vinyl. Their others I have on CD rotation in my car. I keep my older car partially because it has a CD player :D@@flanflinger37
I got into ELO about 1980, aged 14, when the New Romantics were in full swing and anything pre-punk was unspeakably uncool. as a result I never felt I could share my enthusiasm for ELO, so it's really lovely to see a new generation coming to the without preconceptions and appreciating them for what they are
I was given Discovery on 8-Track around the same time. Bands like ELO, Bee Gees, Abba etc were poison to radio stations in the 80s and 90s. To borrow a Brummy saying, I'm Chuffed To Bits to see a new generation making the same Discovery (obvious pun)
New subscriber but been jamming to ur ELO reactions for awhile now. When you get to the 90’s you should react to Jeff Lynne from ELO’s song “Lift Me Up” possibly one of his most underrated songs in his repertoire, it came out in 1990
Time was the first album I bought as a kid. I killed many needles with this on repeat. I've recently gotten back into collecting vinyl and purchased a sealed first pressing of this album. I am equal parts thrilled and terrified to open it. But it makes the 10 year old me very happy. This is an amazing album. And as someone with a crippling level of ADHD, this is my jam and I'm with you with your enthusiasm. I do enjoy your content very much. :) Thanks
Always love your ELO reactions. My first record was given to me by my mother. Yep, ELO. Absolutely the best. So enjoyable watching you react to them the way you do.
Oh I’ve been waiting for this! This entire album is fantastic. It wasn’t loved when it came out but has aged like a fine wine. Just roll on up in order.
I know that they're made to be part of the same song but listening to this album on spotify and hearing how seamlessly the prologue transitions and how great the buildup is to the chorus made me so excited
Yay! I (and I'm sure a few others) suggested this to you on your discord server some time ago! Glad you finally got around to it! This is the song that made me an instant ELO fan!
Hi Mark, putting yule tide (almost) joy into lives again. By this time ELO had dropped the strings and gone fully synth, guitar and drums. Do the full Time LP - it’s a concept album about a time traveler transported to 2095.
Yet another great ELO review....and with PERSONALITY!!! Merry Christmas to you and yours, Mark. You've become a constant bright spot on UA-cam for all your ELO fans! PS: My daughters think you're handsome.
Time is a great concept album. Dealing with traveling from the present to a future time where technology is King. But the time traveler becomes disillusioned with the future, nostalgic for his past he ultimately ends up going back to his present. What I find interesting is that Jeff talks about the good old 1980's as if it is past but the album came out in July of 1981. So a very creative concept. Time is one of my favorite albums with some really great tracks. I hope you continue to mine that musical gold. 😊
I remember buying this album when it came out and I was gobsmacked by the drums and the heavy sound compared to the '70s vibe. A little gem of an album. Just saying.
Here’s my truncated list of the greatest & most important songs of the 1980s: In The Air Tonight - Phil Collins (of Genesis) Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around - Stevie Nicks with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Big Log - Robert Plant (singer of Led Zeppelin solo) Under Pressure - David Bowie & Queen (be sure it’s not live version without Bowie) Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) - Eurythmics Radio Free Europe- R.E.M. (the biggest college radio band that became super big in the 90s) Sirius/Eye In The Sky - Alan Parsons Project (the Engineer of Pink Floyd’s the Dark Side of the Moon) Rock Me Amadeus - Falco (the biggest German language superstar of the 1980s) Rock of Ages - Def Leppard Burning Down the House - Talking Heads Beat It - Michael Jackson (Eddie Van Halen on guitar) Girls Girls Girls - Motley Crue Owner of a Lonely Heart - Yes Purple Rain - Prince (I think this is the song of the decade) Drive - the Cars Every Breathe You Take - the Police Valotte - Julian Lennon (John Lennon’s son, got his record contract without them knowing that) The Boys of Summer - Don Henley (of the Eagles) Material Girl - Madonna (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) - Beastie Boys (First big white Hip Hop artist) Where Has Everybody Gone - the Pretenders (used in James Bond ‘The Living Daylights’) Learning to Fly - Pink Floyd!!!! (One you haven’t yet done) Welcome to the Jungle - Guns ‘n’ Roses New Orleans Is Sinking - the Tragically Hip (most beloved Canadian Rock band by Canada, when the singer died the PM had to comfort the nation) Bullet the Blue Sky - U2 (my personal favorite band in the 80s. Watch the live version from the film ‘Rattle & Hum’) Where Is My Mind? - Pixies (one of the biggest influences on 90s alternative/grunge)
I am so happy that i subscribed to your channel, i can be having the worst day and i watch even just one reaction and you have me laughing and smiling right along with you. Im a huge ELO fan love it love it love it. Check out ELO Wishing. Great tune. Cheers from Arizona 🍻👍😎
Hi Mark🙂 ELO is awesome. I'm so excited to hear the others you pick for this week. You might want to do "I would Die 4 U" by Prince. It's an upbeat kind of song, and it's from 1984.❤ Thanks for all the fun !!!
the 80s are my favourite decade of music when it comes to dancing especially, so here you can pick from this list and I guarantee you, you won't be able to stay still and not groove along while listening: get down saturday night - oliver cheatham let it whip - dazz band I feel for you - chaka khan keep the fire burning - gwen mccrae Never Too Much - Luther Vandross Risin' to the top - Keni Burke Give it to me baby - Rick James there it is - shalamar it's a love thing - the whispers square biz - teena marie love come down - evelyn champagne king tell me what you want - loose ends messages from the stars - the rah band this must be the place - talking heads give me the night - george benson
When you hear such creativity from years ago, whatever happened when you hear the shite of today!! ‘Twilight' was my all time favourite Song from E.L.O. - and do they have a back catalogue! But ironically, it was one of only a couple that did not do well chart-wise - only peaking at No. 30 for three weeks in 1981. I never understood this - and it’s puzzled me ever since... (maybe too many people had already purchased the Album it was taken from ‘Time’, and so already had it) It’s definitely their most powerful Song in my opinion. I think also E.L.O. hold the unusual feat of having more hits peaking at No. 6 (about four or five of them I think) Strange!
Awesome!! Well worth the wait, excellent review!! Sorry Mark I'm tired from work and can't think what else to put. Thanks for listening to that. Might night👍
The strange voice is keyboard player Richard Tandy. It was done with a tube down his throat. He did it on a few different tracks. You can see him doing it on the older videos.
Hi Hector me again how about the Stranglers 'Golden Brown' their biggest hit from 1982. While your on an ELO groove their debut single 10538 overture from 1972, loved it when I was ten and still love it today as I'm sure you will too. love, light and peace, Paul.
Your repeated ahem metaphors in the beginning had me laughing for several minutes! 😂😂😂 Now please answer this question: is Fuckalot located in the vicinity of King Arthur's castle Camealot? 😅 Speaking of ahem metaphors, this intro and song is just the first of multiple eargasms on this album. You are lucky (or unlucky?) you heard it with headphones. The bass at the start, which you noticed, well... If you had heard it with proper floor loudspeakers, the vibrations would have necessitated a change of trousers and underwear (assuming that you are not reacting while naked below the waist, of course.) I first heard Time at a classmate's birthday party in 1981, at the tender age of 13. It blew my mind into a different dimension, where it has been flying around since. Look up the lyrics, both for the _Prologue_ and _Twilight_ - it's the beginning of a *great* sci-fi story. I hope you do the entire album in track order, I can hardly wait for the next one! ❤
I hope you finish out this whole Album. It's absolutely incredible!
True
Agreed. Most ELO fans, hardcore ones that is, will know that the bit that immediately follows Twilight is 21st Century Man backwards, "Though you ride on the wheels of tomorrow", followed by a sampled pinball machine sound effect.
My absolute all time favourite album. Jeff Lynne is a criminally underrated genius.
Oh please don't ever change!! I am a huge ELO fan, but you are just so brilliantly entertaining. I could watch your reactions all day long. You're a breath of fresh air. Love all your posts. Keep up the brilliant work 💯

Well you can't please everyone... But you can definitely please us ELO fans! Woooohoooo
The BEST Intro to any album in the history of humanity?
Their Eldorado album gives it a run for its money.
@@roypatton1707As does Tightrope on A New World Record. 🤷 All so great.
Love this track! It’s either real or it’s a dream, there’s nothing that is in between. Great album too🍻
I love your reactions. ELO is absolutely brilliant! No hate from this lad. Keep flying free, and you have my attention. 🎉
21st Century Man from that album, Danger Ahead and Bluebird from Secret Messages. Or just randomly select! You know there is a tour coming up, the last ever Jeff Lynne ELO tour later in 2024. Going to the September 28th show in Chicago!! One last Jeff live moment!! Can't wait!! 😅❤
I understand, the chord change, you are so good. You do such a good job of just picking random songs from a band. So happy I found your channel. Your energy so contagious!
If you liked these songs you should see what a group of animators did using these songs for the opening animation for diacon IV is just amazing.
Another one you must try is Elo all over the world if you like ELO try it you will love it.
Hi Brain Squeeze, love your reaction, absolutely cosmic 👍. Time my favourite ELO Album, a fantastic concept Album by the genius that is Jeff Lynne - Rock On 🎸🥁🎼🎹👍
This album is a masterpiece!!! I absolutely LOVE your reaction’s!❤️❤️❤️

The concert started with an R2D2 looking robot came rolling out on the stage saying this prolog. Best fucking concert i have seen.

ELO, everytime...every fuxxing time....lol, love this Hector!
"ELO - they are the absolute dominant species to make me feel glorious." Spot on, mate 😅
An influential album to electronica musicians who would follow many years later. Daft Punk names ELO as a favorite, as an example.
I thought there was no way I could enjoy elo even more than I have for 50 years but watching you enjoy them makes me feel like I am back there keep it going do across the border from out of the blue thank you brain freeze 😊

I am sure that El Dorado was a concept album, the first full concept album of theirs.
@@lauraallen55 That's possibly true! For me, it's Overture is even more impressive than TIME's prologue.
I just love El Dorado in its entirety. But, then I love pretty much all Jeff Lynne ever did!

Yes, Eldorado was a concept album of a sad bank clerk trapped in his boring life dreaming of something better and more exciting. Brilliant album 👍

Happy days 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Haha! Love your laugh! And I knew you'd dig the drum intro! This song takes off and never looks back!
I love how excited you get when the drums start playing...sheer joy
This was an awesome album, I saw them live in 1982.
That magic chord is an F minor. Your ELO reactions are brilliant
Ha! You gave me the chord! I love it 🤣🙌🩶
Two thoughts...ELO and the 80's. Where they intersect is Rock and Roll Is King. You must react!
Go on hector rock out mate 😂 don’t you just love how ELO gets those happy vibes going
ELO had most of there hits in the 70s there is alot of great music that came out in the 70s it's worth listening to.
Glad to see you've chosen the best band in history! Especially this line up.Jeff Lynne is a music God.The man is a genius.Cheers!
I've heard a ton of ELO over the years but never this track!!! SO GOOD!!! Thank you!
I'm biased, but I think Mark might get off on ELO more than any other artist. Who could blame him. Pure genius!
magnificient reaction! Love it! Love the song! Love ELO!❤🤍💚

That Fm Choooooord , the genius of Jeff Lynne
How could someone who couldnt read music...be so musically brilliant.
Fantastic song, fantastic album, fantastic reaction! Great way to kick off the 80's!!
Always love your ELO reactions. My first record was given to me by my mother. Yep, ELO. Absolutely the best. So enjoyable watching you react to them the way you do.
Dude, you’re out of your mind and SO GLAD! Keep rocking it!!!!
That "ahhh ... FUCK IT! Sounded like you were totally frustrated with yourself! I related to that! 😂😂😂
Great reaction, Hector! Much love ❣️✌️
💖 so glad you covered this! Thank you! And right after that is Yours Truly, 2095...
My older brother brought this 45 home in 1981. I absolutely LOVED IT!!! He went off to college that fall and never got it back! 😂❤
Oh man Time is one of ELO's best albums. I hope you listen to more of this one!
Oh I’ve been waiting for this! This entire album is fantastic. It wasn’t loved when it came out but has aged like a fine wine. Just roll on up in order.
It was loved by enough of us 😊🥰
Time is the album they were touring when I saw them. Fantastic.
It might be a robot, they had one on stage,
SUCH AN AWESOME ALBUM and story!!!! So much ELO!!!!!
Yep...jl..master of the cords...yep..u get it.
You must react to "Ticket to The Moon" from the same album. Sublime.
Oh and 2095 from that album is pretty cool, too.
I know that they're made to be part of the same song but listening to this album on spotify and hearing how seamlessly the prologue transitions and how great the buildup is to the chorus made me so excited

One of my favorite ELO albums ever.
Hi Mark, putting yule tide (almost) joy into lives again. By this time ELO had dropped the strings and gone fully synth, guitar and drums. Do the full Time LP - it’s a concept album about a time traveler transported to 2095.
'Julie Don't Live Here' is a great song that was supposed to be on the 'Time' album, but got removed and was used as a 'B' side to 'Twilight'.
My absolute favourite ELO song which didn’t make an album appearance.
oh hell yes you finally hit this masterpiece! AAAAAAAAAA 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Earlobes are back, I missed this yesterday, sorry I'm late!

8:47 Beatles homage on the strings... pure Lynne ;)
There is zero Beatles influence and no homage to them on this song?

Great Song Great Reaction love it

Haha! I do the same even when editing, will never take that personally!
This is the moment where the ELO cease to be uncool. Are we in agreement!?
We shall agree!
No lol Jeff was ALWAYS cool, and he didn't even know it! (That's why he was) ❤
The strange voice is keyboard player Richard Tandy. It was done with a tube down his throat. He did it on a few different tracks. You can see him doing it on the older videos.
You're talking about a talk box. Richard Tandy actually uses a vocoder and for "Prologue", that's Jeff Lynne speaking through a vocoder.
Speaking of ahem metaphors, this intro and song is just the first of multiple eargasms on this album. You are lucky (or unlucky?) you heard it with headphones. The bass at the start, which you noticed, well... If you had heard it with proper floor loudspeakers, the vibrations would have necessitated a change of trousers and underwear (assuming that you are not reacting while naked below the waist, of course.)
I first heard Time at a classmate's birthday party in 1981, at the tender age of 13. It blew my mind into a different dimension, where it has been flying around since.
Look up the lyrics, both for the _Prologue_ and _Twilight_ - it's the beginning of a *great* sci-fi story. I hope you do the entire album in track order, I can hardly wait for the next one! ❤
