The Pacific Crest Trail in Three Minutes

- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- This video shows Mac, from www.halfwayany... hiking the entirety of the Pacific Crest Trail from the US/Mexico border to the US/Canada border across 2,660 mi / 4,200 km through California, Oregon, and Washington.
I created this version in response to my first video, "The Pacific Crest Trail (Three Second Thru-Hike)", I have recut the footage into a more compact format with updated music.
I hope this video continues to spread the beauty of the PCT and share its glory with hikers and dreamers alike.

I just hiked the Pacific Coast Trail in 3 minutes. I gotta rest now.
😆😆
Lolz
I just typed this comment in 3 minutes and I'm pretty tired from that too so probably going to rest as well

I'm only 16 years old and read the book 'Wild' written by Cheryl Strayed, but omg, when i saw this adventure, it has become dream to do for me! It looks such a nice, but dangerous adventure, given by Mother Earth!
And? Have you done it yet?
yeah! Have you done it???
Not yet! I am 22 now and in my last year studying Biomedical Sciences, so didnt have time yet! :D
@@fh5977 Haha sick you replied after 6 years. I was in the same boat as you 2 years ago. Do it next year. You won't regret it, trust this random stranger on the internet.
@@Pedro28725 I will for sure haha!!
That's beautiful. Doing that trail is going on the bucket list.
Love it! Thank you so much for creating this.
Very cool video and music....Thanks for posting it! :))
Read "Wild" years ago..remembered all the things she did wrong i.e. boots too small, pack too heavy...learned alot!
Incredible journey, thank you for sharing.
This made me want to hike soooo bad! Awesome job.
loved this video.
Remind me "Wild" movie. AWESOME!
That6 was beautiful
your username is now become my mantra
You need to tell us where you started out, in the South ??? and in what month of the year? and how long it took you. Please.
My friend is doing this right now. He has his mini solar panel to charge his phone.
Skip to 0:35 to get past the long intro
TruXter Jones Wadsworth Constant would have put the start at 58 seconds in, so thanks for the greater accuracy!
You gotta make time in life guys. Waiting around for the "right" time to do anything will surely disappoint you. If you want to do something, make time. Do it and don't look back. If it doesn't work out for you, then you learn something. Take the time off from work and do it, even if it's just one big adventure that uses all your time. Quality experiences > Quantity.
J.M. Studios hell yeah! Have you hiked it yet? I'm planning 2019 to do this
iagree
@@deepdish2034 Did you do it?
@@calitaco I hiked on it but honestly hiked more on intersecting trails
Waiting for the right time just ends up making you put if off forever and then you're old and dying and crying because you never did the stuff you want in life.
It amazes me that the trail seems to be a maximum three feet wide. There's hardly even a "scar" on the earth for this beautiful path!
The trail creates little streams from all the foot traffic in which causes unnatural drainage of several areas
This is arguably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
You need to get out more.
Who are you arguing with? Yourself?
hell yea my g!!!!
Razieme !!! ☝️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏
🙏 Wonderful lady ! 😊😊☺️
That... was beautiful.
As someone who had plans but whose plans were knocked back again and again as mobility limiting medical conditions began to mount (I'm on number 5 at 35), I know I will never see this in person.
But I'm thankful that I live in a time and place where people like you are kind enough to compile such amazing video and let me glimpse what could have been if I had been born healthy.
Aaaaaaand now I'm crying, hahaha.
Again, thank you. That was... something I never thought I'd see.
And not one Big Foot sighting..
we are bigfoot
You did not see him, but he saw you!
Because he was the one holding the camera.
His name is Daryl
Samsquantch
Man everyday was leg day for you.
1:01 scares me, but other than that, everything looks beautiful!
Just finished the trail. Great feeling
Where do people sleep and get food from while they are there? Are there any animals that can attack you like bears?
ThaCapoDon my same question lol
Hey. You sleep in the tent that you carry with you. You resupply food in towns along the trail.. sometimes 1-5 days carry each time... water reports give you info about how often and where you find water
how much weight did u lose
ThaCapoDon wow! Can you share any pointers ax to how to and not to do's? I'm planning this but obese, diabetic, schizophrenic and have vertigo! I'm planning this alone!
I like how your focus was downward/trail dominant through most of your days, and blue sky begins to reveal itself toward the end of your trip. Keep holding your head up, there's a grand world out there!
man i want to do that so bad
I wanna just take my mountain bike down it and speed away from people who tell me not too hehe
...have you done it Shaw ?! 😁😁
@@ferdrewflores3612 awwww man! Nope. :(
#metoomovement
Now THIS is living life to its fullest. Amazing!
wtf... I can barely get up to reheat my cold hot pocket.
Sometimes... my sock falls off when I'm sleeping and I'm so lazy that when I wake up, I'll spend the whole day with only one sock on. Life is fucking hard.. I love camping but it boggles my mind how people do this shit!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
livin the dreammm
Exceptional. Nothing I have seen captures the feeling of physically walking on that trail quite like this.
2:25 is a money shot!
Darin Gordon Tunnel Falls in Northern Oregon!
Halfway Anywhere Will check out. Can you give the timestamps of your time in Colorado?
Yanwar Cakrasenjaya The trail passes through California, Oregon, and Washington (so I have no stamps of time to offer you).
Halfway Anywhere Fair enough. Looks like an epic journey though. Did you guys just camp out for the night when you were done for the day?
Yanwar Cakrasenjaya They stayed in motels all along the way. The parks service provides AMAZING accommodations.
Congratulations! Looks incredible. That clip at 2:24 with the waterfall - where is that?
+Wandering Sole Images Tunnel Falls in Northern Oregon.
Song by the Builders: where can i get my hands on this piece of art @Halfway Anywerhere??
Kudos to you for hiking this trail, it's on my bucket list!
Thank You for the inspiration... The Deep Creek section runs within a mile of my back yard... I am planning a lot of day trips until the hub and I can afford a good 2 week trek up through the Sierras... I loved this so much. ( did a pretty good section hike of the AT but in the dead of winter.... BAD IDEA ) called it in Shenandoah Park.. I look forward to a bit of redemption ;-)
There is no logical explanation at all as to why there should be any dislikes on this video at all. That baffles me.
Micah Young I was literally just thinking the same thing! Who dislikes this?!
***** probably people who dislike it because they dont find it interesting rather than "hate" dislike. You know how Google suggests you videos based on factors like your "like" history? same thing but the dislike is for telling google not to show them videos like this.
that said, I liked this video.
***** I actually did not know that! I don't think I have ever been suggested a video so that makes complete sense!
Clickfarms. There are companies who will sell you bulk likes and subscribers. In order to hide their activities, their dud accounts will randomly like, dislike, and subscribe to random things they come across. It makes tracking them down harder.
***** That's some good food for thought. I had no idea about this either, hah.
What a lovely world we live in. We just need to get out there and appreciate it.
Dude! This is awesome! How many miles were you hiking a day?
jorge palacios Towards the end over 30 - here's a breakdown: goo.gl/oMUB9V
Halfway Anywhere Thanks man! I don't know how the hell you pulled this off, lol, but I'd like to try it out some day.
Link to the band or song?
hold you down Yung $hade. I can't find the acoustic version though...
WOW - I mean, WOW
You truly can't appreciate the world we live in unless you see this. Incredible!
I've been excited while watching the video it was awesome. i can find thousand people out there who wants to do same thing as you did.
Beautiful.....I will going there in next few years. *finger crossing*
OKay, I skimmed through the comments and I didn't see it, but I gotta ask - what do you do for food along such a trail? Fish/hunt?
When I hiked through Oregon, I had spent a couple of weeks beforehand packing rations and putting them into a series of parcels that a friend posted to various campsites on the route at intervals for me to collect and re-stock on the way through. I recommend thorough planning, allow extra calories for the weight you'll have to carry (including water in some sections) and reading one of the excellent guidebooks on the route, especially if it has good maps of each section; sorry, I can't recall the name of the book I used. Fishing and hunting for your food will slow you down massively, requires permits and is unnecessary with modern supplies. I did bring a telescopic rod and tried fishing a couple of lakes (no bites!) and sent it back to my friend in the end as a waste of energy to carry! Better to pack the same weight of emergency flapjack. I hope this is useful... pass it on too. :)
Typically, there are resting stations along the way. People who plan these hikes have people ship them food packages in advance to these locations and they pick it up along the way. Sometimes they ship to themselves in advance. Along the way, there are places where you will have phone signals to call families and friends and keep them updated. But yes, there are ranger stations along the way that caters specifically to PCT'ers.
I've made this journey before, brings back memories. I can recall almost exactly where these shots were taken.
Best time of my life, grats.

We've got some training to do, but I'm doing this with my kids in 2026!
Just watch some vids from your channel all the way from Holland! Cool family adventures!!
Beautiful video of a spectacular adventure! Congratulations on accomplishing it. You look GREAT at the end! You have the glow :)
so where do you guys resupply during that hike.....hoe many shelterw are on the trail and please someone tell me how many km or miles per day do you have to walk in order to complete it in 180 days
People can just leave for 6 months to hike the whole western US, or is this done in sections? Seems like a looooonnnggg time to be gone from work
in your introduction- thank you for "the Sierra". once you have hiked the entire mt range you realize it is singular. yet people insist on saying 'the sierras'.
Willow Murawski I did it for you.
Willow Murawski oh the horror
I disagree. We call the Rocky Mountains "the Rockies", not the Rocky.
I LOVE this video. I love hiking in the wilderness. Oh, this makes my heart sing :-)
This video just saved me a five month journey. Thanks man. Just crossed it off my bucket list!
Oh my! The number of steps that have touched this path, gives me chills. It calls to me.
Can't find this song again anywhere. A title and not just the band would be nice :(
Chris Haugen, "Ibiza Dream" - You can download it free right here: ua-cam.com/users/audiolibrarymusic?nv=1
I am going to do this trail one day! I promise this to myself
Hit me up if you want a partner
I started hiking and kept on going, and going, and going. Then out of nowhere several Karen’s and Kens spoke of permits and regulations to use the public trail. A person like me can’t even go hiking in this country without confusion, fees and waiting lists. I recommend just going for it like me. I’ve done it two times now, no permit.
Great video Mac! Hope to cross trails again someday soon!
Just sitting here waiting for covid to be over so the trail opens up again
One of the coolest things I've seen on UA-cam in a long time
Really miss the old soundtrack, it was a great soundtrack for a great video!
Glorious beard at the end!
Very nice! Hugs from Brazil!👏🇧🇷
I was about to set foot out on it this afternoon. But now, I'm not so sure. It's a bit of a spoiler now that I've seen the whole thing. But on the bright side, this saved me 3 months.
Thanks for sharing this experience with me and others. Keep on Hiking!
This is beautiful..
I discovered the existence of the PCT reading Cheryl Strayed's book : Wild..
I hope that one day I'll be crazy enough to experience it !
Thanks for the cool video :)
2:25 Just drove across that bridge a few days ago. View of the Columbia was gorgeous.
Class of '86 here - I spent 7 months doing the trail and had a little snow in WA. I loved it so much, I went on to do the AT, CDT (in 4 section hikes), the AZ trail and FL trail. I'm a westerner and probably a little biased, but the PCT is the best. The CDT is still a work in progress and has sections of pavement, 4x road and you'll see vehicles on it so the experience is diminished. Just do it if you can, I guarantee you will cherish the experience the rest of your life. See it before our wild areas disappear. Suggestions: go light and for heaven's sake don't be in a hurry. Your chances of a successful thru-hike and the pride that goes with it will be much better.
Hermosos paisajes en una gran aventura, felicidades!
2:09 are you fucking serious this shit is beautiful.
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing.
Beauty! Music is cool, despite some of the comments below. Would love to ride this on my Mt. bike!
This was beautiful Mac! I want to go back.

Philip Freidin ACHILLIES! CDT next year? PCT round two? I need to return.
Where has the soundtrack by the Builders gone? That was such an amazing song to watch this to....
I was wondering the same thing until I noticed the comment about a new edit with new music. Don't get me wrong, I respect any artist's right to make changes to their work, but the original music, IMHO, was perfect for the video. I had viewed the version with Builders many times, came back a few nights ago and was so sad to discover the change
@@jam0813 Just watched it -it says the music is by Builders. Perhaps they switched it back? :)
@@jam0813 Do you know the song name? I can't find it anywhere
@@halfprice06 the original song was 'A Place' by Builders. It fit the video beautifully and genuinely filled my heart with joy to watch - though, like John, I thoroughly respect Mac's right to change his work :)
I really, really like this video and song. Good job!
WHERE is the original music??? What was the name of the song?
'Place' by Builders
thanx for letting us be a part of your journey
My dream is definitely to follow the PCT. thanx for sharing !!!!
'Special thanks to BearCat, Bear Claw, Moist, Puff, Safari, and Trigger'...wtf you hanging out w cartoon characters?
Man, such a beautiful look at this incredible trail!
Wow, this is incredible. Mad props to you and your friends that completed this hike!
This was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing.
Damn America.... You beautiful...

Such a shame so much burned in 2017. The nostalgia hits me like a ton of brick when I watch this.
Just totally unbelievably awesome! I love this video
Perfect weather the entire time? lol hard to beleive.
They only posted the highlights lmao. Who wants to watch a video or rain or harsh wind or snow?
This song is great! Fits the video nicely.
Where is that at 2:24?.... green and lush with the waterfall?..... very cool!
+CactusJackSlade Tunnel Falls in Northern Oregon.
The Eagle Creek alternate. 1 or 2 days after Timberline lodge going north to cascade locks
That looks scary and dangerous. Did you have to go that way or is there an alternate route?
Dachshunds FourMe it's an alternative route. most everyone recommends it over the regular route.
Dude Thats A Water Reflection Haha 😂
I think I would never be able to finish the whole trail, I would just be dazed by one of those amazing scenery along the way.
WOW DUDE THAT IS AMAZING !!! KEEP ON HIKING PNW IS SOOO BEAUTIFUL
I hiked the Oregon section back in 1993, a superb journey on many levels that i think I'm still learning from. I met many good and generous people and had a real feeling of being rewarded for something. I can't afford to do such a trip for now but would love to go through Washington if I get the chance in future. Thank you for sharing this.
Chuck Norris does this once a month.
love this :) thank youuuuuu 🙏🏻
Thank you for this... its the most beautiful imagery I've seen in a very long time. May Life give you everything you need.~
What the hell did they eat, did they cross grocery store all the time in the montain?
Georges Lacroix Yes, the trail goes through towns every 4-8 days. Thru hikers will often hitchhike in and restock (some even mail themselves food via USPS and pickup in town).
A wonderful video. However, at age 63, having fallen arches and arthritic knees, plus a quadruple bypass in 2014 and a hip operation to relieve an infection in 2019, watching this video is probably the closest I will ever get to actually hiking this trail.
Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
One of my regrets in life is not trying to make that hike when I was daydreaming of doing it in my 20's (69-79)
Bruce Grieve never too late.
WEST SIDE. leave me alone, I'm pretending I'm hiking.
What a great experience. Congratulations!! Did one pair of boots last the whole trip? I have to share this with my 82 year old mom. She's a big hiker in the Rockies. She taught me love of hiking which led to a geology career and love of nature. I love that you show the trail. It's like being there. Thanks for sharing.
Took four pairs of shoes!
Incredible video, great shots... but LOSE the song. It sets completely the wrong mood! But I love this otherwise.
The scenery is incredible. Btw how long does it take to do the entire trail.
