Hey Spielberg, it’s Bigfoot. We hiked out of Fontana Dam together. Thank you for putting these videos up. I miss that trail every day and am so grateful for all the people I met there.
Hey Bigfoot! So great to see your name, and I remember hiking out of Fontana Dam with you well…then we ran into each other again in Maine. I miss it, too, even being on the PCT and loving it, there is something special about the AT. Hope all is well and that our paths cross again in the future
Never commented on a UA-cam video before ...but this one deserves it. Watched you from beginning to end and the series was amazing. Simply the best AT video set out there. Well done young man!
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you so much for following my adventure on the AT and for sending this comment -- it really meant a lot to me, particularly being the first person you've ever commented to on UA-cam. Thanks again!
Meeting you was one of the highlights of my trip. You create a wonderful story through images and words with each new video leaving me in awe. Congratulations, my friend!
Hey Tom! I’m going through old comments that I somehow missed and came across this one from you. I hope you are well and that you’re still hiking. Last I remember you were working for the airlines and getting to travel all over. Anyway, hope all is well!
Very well made. I love the fact that you had to set up your camera, walk through the shot, and go back and get your camera. A lot of extra effort. Must have added a few miles to your hike too.
Great video. I don't want to spoil it with a silly comment, but thanks again for taking the (lots and lots of) time to film your thru-hike so that the rest of us could experience it with you vicariously. When I think of all the time you must have spent setting up your camera then returning for it after you got the shot--well, you probably did the AT twice! Again, well done ...
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you, again, for all of your support -- you were one of the most supportive, and it was so appreciated. See you on the trail!
Evan's Backpacking Videos I hope to see some of you on the trail someday when I make my way that direction. Awesome video! There are so many great ones on YT.
I work at pen mar park which the at goes through . l have meet hikers from japan england portigal germany spain australia africa franch l meet hikers from all over the world.
You lived our dream! We could have/should have in March 2006. Our retirement turned into us becoming caregivers and now we can’t imagine sleeping in anything other than our comfy king bed! Great shots!!! Congratulations
Spielberg, I know this is dated, but I wanted to thank you so much for the care in which you took making all of these videos. Your honestly is amazing. For the last couple months, I have been watching all of your videos in the morning as I have used various cardio gym equipment. I have been following other hikers vlogs and blogs and trail journals for years. Yours rates as one of the very best. I have hiked several week long adventures on the AT which happens around once a year since I live in Phoenix. I share the dream of many to complete a thru to hike, but it will have to wait until the class of 2025 when I retire. I hope one day you will be watching my Vlog as I touch that sign on Katahdin. So many of you who I have watched have taught me physical and mental aspects of the trail. I literally had tears watching you touch that sign, but honestly, it happens every time I see someone I have followed on videos or books I have read summit Katahdin. You seem like a wonderful human being and I hope you are doing well. Thank you for sharing your journey-Turk
Thank you so much, Turk! It really means a lot to hear that, and to know that people are still watching and finding value in the videos. You're the first I've heard that watched them while on cardio machines -- I'm going to have to try that! I hear what you mean about seeing people touch that sign on Katahdin -- I always did and still get emotional when I see anyone on that final assent to the sign. The whole journey is the most important and transformational one in my life, and I wish that for you! 2025 will be here before you know it...and, metaphorically, you're already on the trail and your thru hike. In retrospect, I learned that the years leading up to my thru hike of research, planning, reading, gear testing and practice hiking were some of the best parts of the entire journey -- enjoy this time! And please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or anything that you think I can help with -- and definitely let me know if you Vlog your hike so I can support you on your way to Katahdin. All the best for a wonderful Christmas! Craig "Spielberg"
@@alanzuhaus it's all about definition, you can Google, not my quote. "The Appalachian Trail Conservancy describes the Appalachian Trail as the longest hiking-only trail in the world."
@@luistiagorico3187You are right in that case, but You didn't mentioned it. The keyword is "hiking ONLY trail" !!! What means there are no wheels like bikes or wheel chairs or buggys allowed to save the Trail and soil. That makes the difference! (German saying: Who can read has an advantage.🤣)
Bonsoir Craig, You did make me cry and I want to thank you for all the beautiful videos you took. You allowed us to travel and feel what the AT was and is. Thank you so much for sharing with each of us your outstanding and unforgettable experience of a lifetime.
The prefect video to end the series. Congratulations on finishing with your journey. It was beautiful and inspirational and I am glad you decided to share this part of your life with all of us "Armchair Thru-hikers"
Ever since I started following you in Spring, I looked forward to your updates, and enjoyed each viewing as a special moment of serenity in an otherwise frenetic world. I will truly miss that. But thanks for always reminding us, as you reminded yourself, of the blessings of good health and of our beautiful world. Thanks, also, for all the extra time and effort that you put into producing these uniquely insightful videos about a great trail!
Please Lord, let me follow the path of this gentleman one day through this trail before I grow too fragile and ill to do it. Ever since I visited Northern Georgia I have dreamed on keep walking all the way to that wilderness up to Maine. What an inspirational video. I am going to subscribe to see the details of this journey. Safe travels friend.
Found ur CDT vids so I’m backtracking. Will watch ur PCT next which I completed in 2015. Quality vlogs like yours help keep my hiking enthusiasm cup full. At 74 & after 7k miles, that’s important since I see no end In spending time in the wilderness. Thx for ur contribution.
My husband and I watched you from beginning to end and thoroughly enjoyed all the insight into the joys as well as the hardships. I have to say the quality of your video footage far surpasses any others I have seen. We are in Chattanooga, TN and have the dream to do the trail...probably after retirement. You definitely m!ade that itch worse! I look forward to your future updates.
Craig, I have watched this video 100+ times. I still feel so moved at the end. We leave around February 15th for Springer. You have been one of my biggest motivations. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the hiker community! Blessings! I would be honored if you followed us!
Congrats, Craig! Did I really watch more than 10 hours of your videos over the last few months? Enjoyed (nearly) every minute. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you, David, for following my adventure and for this wonderful comment -- it really meant a lot to me!
Craig, congratulations on completing your AT thru-hike. Your videos are the best I have seen this year and maybe of all time. My wife and I have been planning a thru-hike for the last two years and finally have the green light for our spring 2017 departure from Amicalola Falls. We have been following you since the beginning of your journey and have anticipated each new installment. Thank you for the informative and entertaining videos. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors. We'll be looking out for your PCT journey next ;) All the best, Dana and Jennifer
I am in tears! This was beautiful. I just had knee surgery and training to hike this trail w my son is my daily motivation. watching you, sharing with you the emotions is another step in my journey. Thank you!
I want to tell you thanks for all the advice and help you've given me over the past year if you remember. You have been a wonderful mentor to this 56 year old man. Dates are locked in and I'm starting the approach trail on March 4th. When I get the Vlog up and running I'll let you know and watch if you want. And I've also now finished watching your thru hike for the 7th time. My wife even watched the entire thing one time through and finally understood why I have been asking you questions for the past year. Thanks again.
Hi Greg! Of course I remember, and I'm so happy that I've been able to help you in some small way. I'm so excited for you -- just over a month! In the meantime, I'm always here for you for those last minute questions -- especially for the person who has the record for number of times watching my series! And I'm honored that your wife watched it -- you've got a very supportive wife. All the best, Craig
Have been watching from the first video and have enjoyed every minute. Beautifully captured from day one and wrapping it up with this grand finale! I'm a multi day hiker form upstate New York, 29 years old. Thank you!
Dear Craig, Thank you for an amazing journey. We are sitting speechless. Truly speechless. Personally, I will never see the trail again without thinking of your imagery. Or the gracious, beautiful spirit that you are. Cheryl
Craig, Cheryl posted another comment on Day 172, 173, and 174. She mentioned there were so many things you thought you would figure out on the trail and they remained unanswered. It would appear you did indeed figure many things out as you traversed the trail. Not only did you answer the tactical questions of how to survive (and indeed thrive) on the trail, you experienced first hand trail magic and you were reminded of the basic goodness that is inborn within each of us. Thank you for the teaching us how to prepare for the physical, the mental and the spiritual challenges you encountered. You've inspired our family here in GA to look at life through a new lens...compliments of you Mr. Spielberg. :-)
Hi Craig. I've been watching your videos since Day 5, they have been so beautifully done. I live in Dallas and I'm one of your 'thumbs up' fans. it has been a true privilege to experience your journey. What made your videos so special to me was your optimism, your appreciation of friendship, and how you captured the big views, and the simplistic beauty of a flower. Warmest congratulations. I look forward to your next journey!
Congratulations on completing the trail and for doing such an awesome job documenting your journey! You have given us, by far, the best videos I've seen of the trail. Love your music choices on both this and the previous video. Many, MANY thanks for sharing this wonderful adventure with us. Looking forward to your next one. Whatever it may be, I know you'll document it well with your new found and newly honed skills as a videographer!
Well done, well said! Congrats! Thanks for the extra time filming! I hiked with you this last year during lunch and it was a welcomed escape from the day to day. Best wishes and God bless you!
For me, these are the best videos ever. You are an amazing story teller. I'm like the child at the end of the story that begs, "One more time." I wish for one more, than one more...You were quite brave to share. Thank you for that.
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you so much, Cheri, for following my adventure and for your kind words! I really appreciate you telling me this, and I'm like that little kid, too -- I would love just one more day out there on the trail. And thank you for the comment about bravery -- much was definitely outside of my normal comfort zone for sharing, but it felt important to be honest, vulnerable and real. Thanks again!
Craig, Congratulations on your hike. As a section hiker, who has completed 1840 miles to date, I was especially touched by your videos. I have followed many hikers over the years. Your videos have reminded me of the "feel" of the trail. The "quietness" of the trail. Thank you.
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you so much for following my adventure and for your kind words! Your comment about my videos reminding you of the "feel" and the "quietness" of the trail really touch me and meant a lot to hear -- thank you! You've almost completed the whole trail -- enjoy the last sections you have, and I'll see you on the trail.
Spielberg - This was amazing videography and editing. NH and Maine were spectacular. I thought I was watching a movie production. This makes me want to thru hike even more. Thanks for including me in a clip (always happy not to end up on the cutting room floor - LOL). The end really captured I think the essence of your experience. It took me a while to leave a comment. I had to think about how I could put things into words. Last month I finished from VA to Duncannon, hiking Daleville to Woods Hole. I thought a lot about you and Snake hiking north as I moved south. Thanks for sharing the good, the bad, your feelings and challenges. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series. Thanks - Evo
Watching all your 175 day-footage was an amazing and inspirational experience for me. A true gift that you left for others to stumble upon. In a way akin to trail magic: an unexpected and wonderful piece of kindness that I received from you on my own trail of life. I shall cherrish having watched your films for a very long time and I am certain that from time to time I shall return to watching at least some of them. You have moved me in a multitude of different ways. I have made several resolutions in respect of my own during the course of watching. I shall hike more during my everyday life, I shall do a small thru-hike with my children this summer and I shall hike the Camino in 2019. But even more important are some of the thoughts you shared. Kindness, living now and taking risks are only some of the themes that stuck with me. Whilst one knows about these things it is so valuable to have them reinforced in such a beautiful and touching way! I am extremely grateful for every minute of footage that you shared. Thank you so much!
I've watched a load of AT thruhike vlogs and this one definitely takes the palme d'or! You really do have a great talent for this - Spielberg indeed! We've followed your every step, from your initial gear purchases through to your triumph on Katahdin and you really made us feel like we were with you (which I guess we were, in a way...). I regard the whole series essential viewing for anyone preparing their own thruhike and I will stay subscribed. Many, many congratulations!
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you again, Fin, for following my adventure and for your support along the way! This comment means so much to me -- thank you for letting me know that. Makes all that work I put into them worth it.
I passed through Neel Gap today after visiting family in GA and was reminded that your last vlogs would be posted for viewing when I returned home to SC. Your vlogs have been simply excellent. Congratulations on the completion of your journey.
I loved this video. I honestly miss the AT. I summited Mt. Katahan in 2020 (the only year that the ATC did not recognize 2000-Milers) and made the cover of our town paper for hiking it as an honor for the 461 men who died in my Vietnam war unit. Beautiful video.
Working from home recently and watched the sequential playlist again. Two years already since this series was published! At times while I was watching it, I could almost feel the trail beneath my feet again and smell the forest. Reminded me of what it's like to be on an adventure with like-minded people. Thanks again for this great series, Spielberg. Hope you are well.
Congrats - I've watched the entire playlist over the last week or so and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has certainly cemented my thoughts on how I want to capture some of the long distance bushwalks I have planned (watching from Australia).
Craig, the last week I have every minute of every video from your hike over a second time and it touched me even more. It reminded me when I begin and experience my hike in 2018 to enjoy every moment and not take anything for granted along the way. I hope I can do my videos justice. God bless brother!
I'm Juan, watching you from Spain. I did Camino de Santiago twice back in 2013 & 2014, and I love your vídeos. I think you're a ver y especial person, and I can really connect with your way of thinking and living in a very easy way. You're vídeos make me really happy, and watching them I can relieve tons of beautiful things that I have unforgotten. Sadly, now I have a sarcoma in both legs, and I can't walk, but I am fighting every day and trying to cure myself with all of my heart energy. Every day I'm dreaming with complete the entire THRU hike, and watching these vídeos I have a little hope that makes me smile. Thank you for all, Craig, en España tienes una persona que te sigue y te aprecia, y a la que cada día ayudas a soñar y a luchar contra su enfermedad. Gracias.
Thank you so much, Juan! Your message meant a lot to me -- I really appreciate it. I am with you in spirit as you fight to cure yourself and live your dream of completing a thru hike. I hiked the Camino in 2013 & 2015, so maybe we met! I am sure that your memories of your Camino are strong and with you all the time. I know that my memories of the Camino bring me comfort and joy, especially during difficult times (I had a lot of memories of the Camino while hiking the AT). I hope that your memories of your pilgrimage bring you the same comfort and joy. You have made me very happy with your kind words and with sharing your story with me. Thank you, my friend. I look forward to the day that you are well and I can bring your trail magic on your thru hike.
Thanks Luis! I hope you are able to get out there and have the great adventure that the AT provides. I'm glad I could boost your spirits and really appreciate that you took the time to tell me. Best of luck, and keep me posted.
Craig, it's been awesome watching the videos of your AT hike. I feel like I was hiking along with you the whole way! Thanks for sharing your experience with us.When I was finishing my Thru-hike several years ago I wrote a poem while I was sitting on the picnic table next to the ranger's station with the Mt. Katahdin reflecting off of Daicey Pond. I wrote this poem. Now that you have finished the AT...I'm sure you can relate: REFLECTIONS AT DAICEY POND It started in the early spring on Georgia’s Springer mount. How many steps I’ve taken since, I couldn’t even count. We climbed great mountains, forded streams, and hiked the deepest notch. We all got blisters on our feet, and rashes in our crotch. We saw the deer, the moose and bear, the stars and yellow moon.We also heard the nighttime song of whippoorwill and loon. The trail was often difficult, with rocks and roots and logs.Sometimes we didn’t wash for weeks, we often smelled like dogs. I thought of all the city folk, so cozy in their house, while we were fighting hungry bugs and the pesky shelter mouse. I knew it would be difficult, a test of mice and men. They said the odds of finishing were only 1 in 10. We persevered, the miles flew by, and summer turned to fall.I reminisce the trail I’ll miss and things I can recall. The things that I remember most are not the rocks and trees, but all the friendships on the trail and all those memories. So here I sit at Daicey pond, reflecting on the year.I’ll hold on to those memories, of how I’ve gotten here. T-RexAlso, if you get a chance you can read my journal with pictures. Not as exciting and entertaining as your videos, but there are a few humorous parts you'll enjoy:drive.google.com/file/d/0B6aSs2MHXzeQeTgwcjJZTkg2RVU/view?ts=56dc6f51
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you, Rex, for following my adventure and for your support along the way! As so many who "liked" your comment, I really like the poem and look forward to reading your trail journal -- thanks for sending it again. I remember you sent me the link early in my adventure, but I couldn't remember which episode the link was in. Thanks again!
Hey, thanks! Glad you liked it.I wrote it while sitting on the picnic table at the ranger station at the last day of my thru hike. Lots of emotions....
i started following you back around video 4 or 5. This is some thing I plan on doing myself and picked a handful of people to follow both in 2015 and 2016. For some reason you just managed to bring out the true emotion of the hike in your videos. I have had hikes and long distance bike trips that have be great, and some not so much. but you really showed how this could be a life changing event. I can't even put into words how happy I am that you made it. Great job and thank you for letting us be part of your hike! Best of luck to you. Chris Kiger, Elkton MD
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you, again, for following my adventure and for your support along the way -- your comments of support have really meant a lot to me!
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you, James, for following my adventure and for your kind words! I hope to get a post trail video up next month. Thanks again!
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you again, Deanna, for following my adventure and for your support along the way! This comment meant a lot to me -- thanks!
I just completed your series. The concluding segment to your trail adventure was absolutely great. I think it's the best one that I've seen. You brought tears to my eyes as you completed your summit of Katahdin by mouthing, "thank you" and then reaching out to touch the Katahdin sign. I'd like to say that you are an inspiration to me, but that would require me to get equipped and get out on the trail. Unfortunately, I think at age 72, I'm too old to hit the trail. If I did go, that would be my trail name - "Too Old." The only "long" distance walking I do is pushing my golf cart four times a week up a few modest inclines between looking for lost balls in the rough. So, I just remain absolutely impressed with your will to "keep walking." Thanks so much for the beautiful views in and above the forest. Your introspective views were were also wonderful. Good luck and stay healthy on your future hiking. Perry Thorvig Minneapolis I'm a retired city planner and Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Area paddler. I also have a few videos on my channel of snow goose hunting (see my camo gear in the picture) and training my golden retriever. Best wishes.
OMG Craig, that was bloody amazing this footage and will remain my favorites for a very long time. Well done. And sharing the over 4000 hikers in New Brunswick in Canada eh. I only hope that my VLOG presentation will as good as you own. While watching each video, I wondered why you had yourself in the video sequence but OMG what a master you are am in this presentation. Bravo Zulu Mate.
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you again, Adrian, for following my adventure and for your wonderful encouragement and support along the way! I'm looking forward to catching up on some of your videos now that I'm (almost) done with all of mine. Thanks again!
Spielberg, thanks so much for the videos. I also thruhiked in 2016, about a month before you. I started on January 27 and completed on July 27. My trail name was Christmastree. I took a few breaks for various reasons. Watching your video was like being back on the trail. I live in the Adirondacks and hike often, but I feel like the AT is calling me back again. Thanks for the memories. Christmastree
Well done sir. From the beginning you had a different approach to the videos. Your trail name is well placed. Looking forward to the next adventure. My son is looking to do the AT this next year. Wish I could go with him.
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you so much, Marko, for following my adventure and for your kind words! I hope your son is able to take his thru hike and that you're able to get out there to hike with with him for a few days or a week or so. Thanks again!
I have to say from the bottom of my heart, that this video you made really made a connection with me. I have always wanted to do the trail, even if it killed me,but i can't get away from my job long enough to do it. Thank you for doing this, I'll be honest, i teared up a little bit with you when you reached the end, pretty epic.
Only appropriate that "Spielberg" would conclude with a "tear jerker". Along the trip your cinematography, narration and editing were superior. The finale, however, captured more AT experience in 5 minutes than National Geographic did in 1 hour. I consider myself lucky to be 1 of the 2800+ subscribers that shared your joy and pain along the way. You will be with me in '18. THANKS !!
Great job Craig. You've truly earned and lived up to your trail name. That's the best summit and summation vlog that I've seen over the past several years while preparing for my own thru hike. I think all of us who followed your journey thru celebrated and cried with you as you touched the final sign. I love all the remembrances, the experiences shared, and your spiritual approach to the trail and how it and the people along the way have taught you many a great lesson that will last a lifetime. Thank you for sharing your amazing journey with us all!!! Stan from Staten Island
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you again, Stan, for following my adventure and for your support along the way! This comment really touched me -- thank you! I look forward to meeting you in the new year to help in any way I can for your hike. Until then, all the best -- and thanks again!
Craig, I found you through a search for gear videos months and months ago. Never did or could I have imagined what an amazing journey you would bring me along on. Thank you and my very best wishes.
Congratulations on yet another job well done, and thank you so very much for sharing your journey with us. I hope you plan to keep your videos up on you tube..?
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you, again, for following my adventure and for your support along the way! I am planning on keeping them up for as long as UA-cam will allow. Thanks again!
Been 2 years since someone has commented on this video. Well from an Aussie that has just finished watching every episode of your hike for the 3rd time and now this summary .... thanks mate, thank you for efforts .... I will be taking that challenge in 2020 and I can assure you the emotion on your face when you said thank you will help me when I need I am sure
Craig, Congratulations on your great accomplishment. Your videos were by far the best I have seen that have documented a thru hike. What I really appreciated in your videos was that you always emphasized the trail and its beauty. Other videos of the trail were more a running commentary of the hiker, with little insights to the trails beauty. Thank you for presenting the trail the way you did, but also for sharing your private thoughts. I especially enjoyed any references or videos of the weather. I am a meteorologist with the National Weather Service and I especially liked at the end of your hike how you planned your summit of Katahdin based on a forecast. Thanks for your confidence in us meteorologists. I was running today in MD in a driving rain and was thinking if I could be that uncomfortable while hiking. Thanks for being an inspiration to many of us who hope to do a thru hike one day. For me, it will have to wait until I retire in about 7 years.
Thank you so much for writing to tell me that -- it was really nice to hear! Enjoy the research and planning for your thru hike in 7 years -- it'll be here before you know it! All the best, Craig
Craig, can't thank you enough for these incredible videos - the love and energy you put in to them is evident and greatly appreciated. Happy tears of joy for you on this final video. Plan to begin my thru hike with my best friend in late Feb or early March 2018 (we're from Texas). Love your thoughts on the mind, body and spirit as you moved through your journey. I'm a yoga instructor and that really resonated with me. Your videos have inspired and encouraged me for my own journey and wanted you to know that you've made a beautifully positive impact. Thank you so very much.
Thank you so much Stacey! I apologize that it's taken me so long to re[ply to your comment, and wanted you to know how much it meant to me and how much I appreciate you taking the time to write and send it. I'm very excited for you and your friend -- it is truly the adventure of a lifetime! I had a yoga practice for 15 years (Jivamukti / Vinyasa Flow) and know the core strength I built -- not to mention the breath and spiritual vantage point -- helped me tremendously on the trail, and I know it will be a great service to you, too. Please feel free to reach out to me if you think I can be of service in answering any lingering questions you may have. Enjoy these last weeks before you begin -- in many ways they are some of the best weeks of the entire journey. Thanks again. Namaste! Craig "Spielberg"
Great Series. I pick 3-5 Videos to subscribe to in March. Then usually I drop down to two or three. With Highlander finding what he needed to find from the trail; it was down to just you! Awesome Job and Congratulations! It would be awesome if you did one more vid??? Would love to see how you edited your video clips on the phone for you tube. Would love to know if you used any special microphone and finally, how did you edit audio over video during the editing process. I have learned so much from you and your adventure. I hoping to do the trail myself in 2018 or 19.
First part that must be said is congratulations on your accomplishment. Second part is thank you for sharing this amazing journey. I have watched some others documentaries of the AT, but yours is by far the best i have seen. The way you captured each of your videos and showed the ups and downs and the struggles and the rewards were in such a way that it completely turned the way i look at hiking and backpacking and the trails in a good way. Your videos made me take in God's country more and appreciate what we are able to do while we have the time to do it. Thank for sharing this, absolutely incredible. Be safe out there.
At first I honestly thought that this was a satire on cheesy thru hiking blogging tropes. The weeping at the end, and the filming the slow reach towards the sign - from two different angles!
Craig, One word...."Amazing". You as well as your videos. Congratulations on this incredible, wonderful journey. It's been such a pleasure to watch your videos and see it through your eyes. Michelle was in tears. Ok, I teared up a little too. God Bless, my friend!
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you, John, for everything -- for being my first friend on the trail, and for following my adventure and supporting me the whole way. I'm glad I got you to tear up a little -- lol! The shot that always make me smile (and tear up a little) is in the previous video of us all running across that highway in Franklin -- I'm so glad I have that memory on tape -- we were like little kids, so much joy and excitement. Keep in touch, my friend -- and please give Michelle my best!
Craig, I started watching your hike at around day 94-95 and have been following ever since. It's been incredible watching you document your experience. I've been gobsmacked by what you are able to do with your i-Phone--you certainly have a talent that compliments your trail name. The scope, scale and spirit of the adventure really comes through in the video. Ready to see you do the Camino and JMT next...WAY TO GO, BUD!
I finished on September 2nd and still can't process it. This video took me back and makes me want to do it all over again. It was a pleasure to meet you Spielberg and congrats on your finish. -Goose-
Yep, I do get that guys but I still think, at least for me, there would be a sadness of all the planning, all the struggling, all the camaraderie, and all the dream of completing the AT coming to an end. It won't stop me from doing it when the time is right but I've got to reconcile that concern. You can see the emotion in Craig when he says "I can see it". The excitement of achievement can be tempered by the sorrow of...it's over.
I watched from the beginning of your journey and I actually put off watching this last video because it is the end of this thing I feel I shared. I have no doubt I am not alone in this. Thank you Craig in letting me tag along visually and viscerally.
I have now watched your entire adventure twice. Absolutely loved it. After months of wearing my wife down I will be starting it April 1, 2019. Thanks for posting all of this. Between you, Big Foot, Sam I Am, and Early Riser 71 whom I'm still watching, all your videos are so different but very informative. Been a joy watching all you guys. But once again, you need to make more videos. You definitely have the talent and a great eye.
You captured your epic journey like no other, pure inspiration! Kudos for the trail magic you provided for ER 71 yesterday. Thank you Craig for your story and perspective on one of the best long distance trails in our great country.
3 words come to mind...SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL !! 'nuf said! :) OOPPPS ! It occurs to me that Robert Redford will realize that your AT film is better than his. Ha ! Ha !
I just finished binge watching your amazing journey. Thank you so much for allowing us to "experience" it with you. I had tears right along with you in the end. Wishing you all the best.
Hi Diane, I just returned from a long hike, so I apologize that it took me so long to write back. Thank you for writing to let me know that you enjoyed my AT journey -- I appreciate it. All the best, Craig
I watched a PCT video, a CDT video and yours this morning. I completed the AT on October 4, 2017 and you did a great job. How beautiful ! You captured the highlights and made me realize what I missed with my camera!
Thanks Michael - really appreciate that - and congrats on your successful AT thru hike! I hope you’ve readjusted well to being back in the “normal” world. I had the post trail blues pretty bad for a while, but it eventually passes. Based on the fact that your checking out PCT and CDT videos, looks like you’re thinking about your next hike. I just finished 120 miles on the Arizona Trail and really liked it. Whatever you do next, I hope it’s amazing! All the best, Craig
I started the AT in June 1978, did not finish but over the years have completed many sections. I have watched your entire trip and want to say great job in capturing the emotions of the AT. I live in Wa state now your video wants me to head back east.
At the end he had to walk all the way back because he didn’t remember if he locked the car or not
That's a real knee-slapper
I did that on stone mountain. What a drag to have to walk back down again.
LOL
You make da funny
No big deal. It's only 5 minutes.
*me sitting eating a bag of hot cheetos*
"I could totally do that"
Do you go to cmm perhaps
@@lizard0750 What's CMM? also my comment was meant to be a joke lol
it's not that hard, you just have to not have shit to do for a few months. must be nice.
Lol me too
You literally could, anyone of any body type can pick up hiking, you just need free time
Hey Spielberg, it’s Bigfoot.
Craig M - Spielberg sure will brother!
Having recently walked for 9 days to Santiago , Spain, this looks like a monumental challenge. Than you for a most inspiring video.
This is the longest trail in the world, about 3500km. A true lifetime experience. On my bucket list to be able todo some of it!
@@luistiagorico3187 it's actually the American premititer trail
@@luistiagorico3187 it is definetly no the longest trail in world

Bonsoir Craig, You did make me cry and I want to thank you for all the beautiful videos you took. You allowed us to travel and feel what the AT was and is. Thank you so much for sharing with each of us your outstanding and unforgettable experience of a lifetime.
The prefect video to end the series. Congratulations on finishing with your journey. It was beautiful and inspirational and I am glad you decided to share this part of your life with all of us "Armchair Thru-hikers"
I had a feeling this video existed, and here it is. Incredible footage.
So glad you found my channel and are enjoying my hikes! Like you, I see no end in spending time in the wilderness
This may be the best AT videography of the year. You lived up to your trail name.
ever
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you, David, for following my adventure and for this wonderful comment -- it really meant a lot to me!
Lol -- thanks Jamie!
Totally agree!
Congratulations. Awesome scenery. Thank you for sharing.
We'll be looking out for your PCT journey next ;)
All the best, Dana and Jennifer
I am in tears! This was beautiful. I just had knee surgery and training to hike this trail w my son is my daily motivation. watching you, sharing with you the emotions is another step in my journey. Thank you!
I hope that your knee recovers quickly and that when you get on the trail with your son that you have an amazing, transformative experience as I did.
Beautiful footage und music! :-)
Loved especially the part when you where near to tears at Katahdin!
st3vie Thank you!
All the best,
Craig
And the Brian laundrie hunt takes me here lol

Have been watching from the first video and have enjoyed every minute. Beautifully captured from day one and wrapping it up with this grand finale! I'm a multi day hiker form upstate New York, 29 years old. Thank you!
Dear Craig,
Thank you for an amazing journey.
You brought me to tears when you attained your goal. Thank you!
Beautiful. Made me cry with you.
Thank you, Noriko!
I passed through Neel Gap today after visiting family in GA and was reminded that your last vlogs would be posted for viewing when I returned home to SC. Your vlogs have been simply excellent. Congratulations on the completion of your journey.
The music really adds....congratulations!
I loved this video. I honestly miss the AT. I summited Mt. Katahan in 2020 (the only year that the ATC did not recognize 2000-Milers) and made the cover of our town paper for hiking it as an honor for the 461 men who died in my Vietnam war unit. Beautiful video.
Best video of the trail we have seen. Thanks Craig(Spielberg)
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you, Tim, for your kind words!
Bravo, well done, splendid, and congratulations.
I enjoyed following your 2016 thruhike while preparing for my own thru, which I successfully completed in 2017. Hope all is well...cheers!
THANK YOU!!! I almost cried at the end. WOW!!! Great video, great hike, great ending.

Brother great video! I really have plans to hit the trails next year with Gods help, and watching your video boosted my spirits!
Now that you have finished the AT...I'm sure you can relate:
REFLECTIONS AT DAICEY POND It started in the early spring on Georgia’s Springer mount.

Hey, thanks! Glad you liked it.I wrote it while sitting on the picnic table at the ranger station at the last day of my thru hike. Lots of emotions....
Nice
i started following you back around video 4 or 5.

Hah. So did I... What an accomplishment. We walk bits & pieces of it here in NY but I can't even comprehend doing the whole thing!!!
So, I just remain absolutely impressed with your will to "keep walking."
Thanks so much for the beautiful views in and above the forest. Your introspective views were were also wonderful. Good luck and stay healthy on your future hiking.

Thanks for the ride, glad that you finished, but sad that the videos are over for now. Congratulations on completion!!!
Wow man great video! Prob the best I've seen.
Thanks Jay!
THANKS !!
This is great..I just can't help but laughter at each scene knowing you have to cut and hustle back to stop filming
Very emotional ending for you. You did a very good job in editing. I could identify each state from watching your prior videos.
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you again, Sharon, for following my adventure and for your support along the way!

Craig, I found you through a search for gear videos months and months ago. Never did or could I have imagined what an amazing journey you would bring me along on. Thank you and my very best wishes.
I really want to do this but the longest hike I've ever done was 40 miles on the AT
Congratulations on yet another job well done, and thank you so very much for sharing your journey with us. I hope you plan to keep your videos up on you tube..?
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you, again, for following my adventure and for your support along the way! I am planning on keeping them up for as long as UA-cam will allow. Thanks again!
Hermoso video realmente emocionante, gracias por compartir esa bella experiencia,es mi sueño lograrlo también.saludos

Well from an Aussie that has just finished watching every episode of your hike for the 3rd time and now this summary .... thanks mate, thank you for efforts .... I will be taking that challenge in 2020 and I can assure you the emotion on your face when you said thank you will help me when I need I am sure
If Brian Laundrie has been hiding here then no wonder it’s taking so long to find him.
RACHE, JUST A GREAT COMMENT, I SO AGREE WITH ‘ YOU’ ! MERCI BEAUCOUP! AU REVOIR! 🇫🇷🌹💐
All the best,
Craig
This is where I think Brian Laundrie is hiding.
i mean he def could walk it from georgia to maine
@gbolt on a trail
@gboltonatrain did you?
I really need to start filming myself crying whilst hiking. No idea why I’ve never done it.
Set the camera up. Then have someone kick you in the family jewels.
At first I honestly thought that this was a satire on cheesy thru hiking blogging tropes. The weeping at the end, and the filming the slow reach towards the sign - from two different angles!
Seeing you tear up. Wow. You have accomplished something incredible. So blessed. Love, from India.
That was awesome!
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you, Jeremy!
Craig,
One word...."Amazing".
So this is where Brian Laundry is. Aight, my expectations of finding him have gone from 1 month to 1 year.
Brian is probably in his moms kitchen every night or dead.... he's not in the wild alive
Brian Laundrie inspired me to go hiking..lmao
@@Yandel21ableify barefoot too? .. with his duck feet ..I don't see him being very good at it lol
@@ItisMeMike gabby's posts indicated that she thinks he is a good hiker. I hope he is, i want him found ALIVE.

I could never do this alone, will need a partner
I finished on September 2nd and still can't process it. This video took me back and makes me want to do it all over again. It was a pleasure to meet you Spielberg and congrats on your finish.

Hard to see the last 30 secs through the tears welling up in my eyes!!! 🤤🤤
Thanks, Jerry, for taking the time to let me know that!
Same reaction Brother! Every time I watch it or share it with a friend!
Wow I truly get the sense of how this was a spiritual journey for you. It's been amazing watching you since the beginning! Thank YOU!
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you so much for following my adventure and for your kind words!
My biggest fear of attempting the the AT is not failing but rather succeeding. Then what?
Always another trail my friend ...
Agreed!

Thank you Craig in letting me tag along visually and viscerally.
great video! one day i'd like to do this with my girlfriend and Vizsla!
ABSOLUTELY the BEST 5 minute video I have ever seen from a thru hiker. WELL DONE!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Thanks Steve -- I really appreciate that!
Watching cus of brian
I have now watched your entire adventure twice. Absolutely loved it. After months of wearing my wife down I will be starting it April 1, 2019. Thanks for posting all of this. Between you, Big Foot, Sam I Am, and Early Riser 71 whom I'm still watching, all your videos are so different but very informative. Been a joy watching all you guys. But once again, you need to make more videos. You definitely have the talent and a great eye.
Thanks so much, Greg! Congratulations on setting the date for your thru hike, and enjoy the planning!
A BIG BEAR!
You captured your epic journey like no other, pure inspiration! Kudos for the trail magic you provided for ER 71 yesterday. Thank you Craig for your story and perspective on one of the best long distance trails in our great country.
Mike Roberts Thanks Mike -- I really appreciate that!
Removing my comment, as I thought I was replying to ER 71.
3 words come to mind...SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL !!
'nuf said! :)
OOPPPS !
All the best,
Craig
All the best,
Craig
I started the AT in June 1978, did not finish but over the years have completed many sections. I have watched your entire trip and want to say great job in capturing the emotions of the AT. I live in Wa state now your video wants me to head back east.
I'm finally able to catch up on my last video's comments. Thank you, Curtis, for following my adventure and sharing that with me!
Congrats Craig and thanks for sharing your awesome adventure. God bless.
Thanks for the beautiful video! Made my day!
