  • When I was at the Ohio cichlid Association extravaganza I was fortunate enough to pick up these beautiful fish. Paratilapia bleekeri is larger then the Paratilapia polleni, Madagascars finest cichlids from Maralambo. Enjoy these beautiful juveniles from the Nosivolo river.

    Nice... just picked up 11 1-2" of them. Looking to breed them this time around. I had 8 of them a year or so ago. Have one male left. About 9" right now. I bought small spotted. Not the rare large spot. Last batch I got was in 2+" range and were black from store. These new guys are still grey..

    These are really cute fish! So much for the plants being organized 😁 that is really cool how they change to dark like that. They will be cool to see as they develop to adulthood. Your tank looks great!

      I mixed some black gravel in the tank it totally changed the look of the tank and the fish.

      That's a good question I'm thinking there not I got them from the OCA Extravaganza. Not the cares program. They are endangered in the wild I think there's a pretty good population in the hobby.

    I don't understand why African cichlid aren't popular in my country I can't even find jewel cichlid let alone this starry night cichlid😭

      @@roundedrob1483 U might be surprised because I'm from Cambodia literally bordering Thailand, the biggest aquarium exporter. Fish worth penny here but no one bring African cichlid into their store 😭

      Once they got used to the tank. They slowly started to color up as they grew. What other fish do you have with the little guy?

    I bought a juvenile today. No color and no spots though very light stripes but thats it. How long would it take to see spots and black color to show

      Well, when I acquired the seven that I have. Once they got conformable in the tank. Some started to color up right away and got darker. They are in a 55-gallon tank now. Should I do another video on them?

      That is definitely a video that needs to be done. Just to let you know as of today all of them are still alive. Doing well and looking spectacular.
