Sorry to hear that the pumpkins got hit. It can be a real problem. Glad the grapes are ok though.

Our Bacchus crop is ruined this year. Late frost, wet summer. We sprayed as much as time would allow when both of us work. Next year is year 4 so we’ll double down our efforts! It’s a steep learning curve. We might get it right one one day. Hopefully our Seyval, Souvignier and Solaris will fair better but they are only 1-2 years old.

Hi there. So sorry to here about your Bacchus crop. If it's any consolation, ours is not looking great after a very damp summer. I'm hoping we can get something from it but the weather is preventing me from spraying at this critical time. Always a learning curve. Keep going , things will get better.

I'm advising on replanting a hobby vineyard North of Weobley. Same red clay as Little Dewchurch. I've settled on Rondo for the red but torn between Phoenix(growing well at Croft Castle) and Solaris for the white. Both have very good resistance. If you were starting again, with the knowledge you have now, what variety would you choose instead of Bachus? Baachus

Yeah, good question. I've not done any further research after we've planted our varieties, but Rondo is good for resistance but birds seem to love them too. Orion seems to have good resistance so far but later ripening times to the Rondo which probably isn't a bad thing. I think your choices should be good. If similar soil to us then go for the so4 root stock. This seems fine for wet soils. Best of luck. A

How high is your fruiting line? Looks pretty high to me on your video ;)

Hi there. The fruiting line is about 1 metre. Saves our backs when picking. Also being a bit damp here, the higher line keeps the grapes further away from the wet ground.
