  • I looked up various commercials and I could not seem to find this version and since I found it in a compilation of other ads I thought it would upload this.
This is different from the "Honest competition" version although looking somewhat the same.

The Commodore 64 sold for $595 for a 1 MHz 6502. That is equivalent to $1600 today. It was way out of my price range.
I got a Timex Sinclair 2068 computer for $200. The 3.58 MHz Z80 is not impressive, because a Z80 takes longer to execute most instructions, but it is at least 80% faster than a 1 Mhz 6502. The 2068 had a better BASIC with instructions for sound and graphics.
The Commodore 64 had the advantage of having 1/3 more RAM, eight 8x8 single-color sprites, and smoother scrolling. The Commodore 64 was better for games, but the 2068 was still a great computer at a much lower price.
