I would be very interested in how scandinavian countries and the likes of Russia deal with heating there homes, and keeping there elderly folk warm. Perhaps they are better equipped to deal with cold weather.I do think that here in Britain we are way behind in the way we heat our homes, and the way we insulate them. I am 80 and even with central heating and a gas fire, along with convector and fan heaters, the chances of a continued heat source that lasts are very slim. I recall my grandparents using anthracite brickets in there all night lounge fire, that heated the water as well, it worked for them and kept the home warm.Any ideas?
The answer to the muscle atrophy problem is weight training. It works for elderly people as well as younger ones.
I have elderly parents who i look after, they are pretty good at keeping warm.

Physiotherapy is the best treatment for my patients here in uganda.
The reality is that a lot people on pensions now can only afford to be in one room. Some even have no heating on. ^j^
