I lived in the Oakland hills in the late 80s, 2 AM in the morning my window was being smashed next to the front door, my wife frantically call police as I ran downstairs to chase them off, the officer showed up 45 minutes later, as he shined his flashlight on the damage he said what do you want me to do, I asked did you just come from a murder scene, he said yes how did you know, I replied by telling him to get in cruiser and leave, he said you got it. I went back in the house where my kids were sleeping and my wife was still shaking and said we are moving out of here ASAP. Police can’t care about crime when they can’t hold criminals accountable. Best of luck to all living there.

Cops dont show up after you dial 911 for atleast 2 days in Oakland. The news reporters probably showed up earlier

a word of advice from a veteran who has lived in NYC and SF ... (1) do not put anything of value inside your car, (2) do not lock your car, (3) post a sign that says "car is not locked, nothing valuable inside car"... it may save you the cost of replacing a broken window

I lived 9 years in Oakland and when I used to share that I was raised in Mexico City the resulting usual questions were "how safe it is" "what about cartel violence?" "is crime high down there? How did you dealt with all that?" Well, I lived in Mexico until I was 25 and was never mugged or have my car broken into. But in Oakland? my apartment ransacked, my car windows shattered twice, a White lady hysterically during COVID demanding that I go back to my country, and as I was to be hit by her, two big homeless dudes screamed "yo lady, leave the Bro alone!" and she left. So much US BS. so much hypocrisy. Is anyone shocked by these crimes and local political corruption? NO!
