Hey, thank you for the tutorial! I have one problem however, when choosing OCIO view to ACES rgb my screen goes pitch black, same applies to all other presets except ACES Raw, I would really appreciate if you (or anyone) knows how to fix this. *I have OCIO 1.0.3 & Octane for Blender 3.1, drivers up to date
Aren't you supposed to use ACEScg instead of ACES sRGB and ACES2065 ? Can't say about the preferences, but pretty sure in the OCIO settings it has to be ACEScg or in Octane the ACES sRGB is same as ACEScg + sRGB View Transform? Quote from ACES Central: "Generally, you should avoid rendering with ACES2065-1 because it is far from optimal for computer graphics rendering, some RGB colourspaces are performing better than others and ACEScg (AP-1) is greater than ACES2065-1 (AP-0) here." - Thomas Mansencal
That is a good question. I have not had to do that. I am not certain octane has a way to read the color space of a texture as ACES. If it does, then you would want to do that. If it doesnt, there is no way to do that. Ill have to check that out and follow up with you
@@AnnisNaeemOfficial good on otoy! And the people working on the blender plugin. I know blender 3.2 supports "ocio color space aliases" and "new linear acescg color space". How do you approach your color texture maps? Do you convert them into the ACEScg ColorSpace?
Thank you for this video. But i'm having some trouble. I have everything you except the OCIO section underneath your LUT Strength at 4:20. I don't have that at all. Any help please?
How do i export exr to photoshop without it looking odd. I wish to render on octane with ACES color space then export to photoshop for fine tuning but it always look different, also is there an alternate format like PNG to export in or do i HAVE to export in EXR
quick question, I am not able to download just the specific config you outlined. Only getting the option to download it all which is taking quite some time, I doubt youll respond before it finishes, but one could hope you potentially have a solution. Appreciate this video. Ive been deep diving into 3d after having figured out modeling and texturing. now delivering a final product your stuff is a whole vibe! subbed. look forward to more!
Hi, thanks for the video, it's very helpful for me, but may I ask how did you set up the color management there and why the camera view and free view look different?
I'm confused with your first question. Maybe you can explain that one a bit more. The second one is because when you render out of octane, you typically render with the view in a camera. You can do the same preview lut in just the viewport. Hit "N" to pull open the right side panel in the viewport. Go to the "octane" tab and do the same setup but with that viewport image processing. It works the same way
If at all possible, I dont recommend doing that. Blender's compositor (as far as I know) is not able to work in the aces color space. octane or not. So I recommend using Nuke non-commercial (its free but has a resolution restriction) or Natron. also free
If your asking about the blender color management, it doesn't matter if you're using octane. It gets overridden by what we set up for aces. So I have my just set as whatever blenders default is
@@ManningMoore thank you! Also I don’t understand why you use ACES2065-1 in octane system settings and when saving Aces CG? What is the difference? Why aren't you using the ACES2065-1 when saving the image?

How to save file after set up everything?
Any tuts of ACES for cycles in blender?
Cycles doesnt natively support aces. So no not really. I was hoping 3.0 would come with better support, but it doesnt
I'm having a problem with the octane output it only outputs the 1st frame during a render the rest of the frames are just regular blender output
I havent heard of that issue. I need to look into that
What is color setting in blender? Filmic or Raw?
It doesn't matter as long has your color output for octane is set to aces cg or 2065
Any specific reason why you are using such an old ACES config file (1.0.3 - 3 years old), versus the latest version (1.2 - 13 months)?
That was just the file that I needed to get aces working. I had it for a while and just hadn't had a need to get any of the newer versions
i can't open 1.2 for the life of me. It always gives an error when i try to extract from zip
