even without the physical defense, just enforcing the actual travel and carry rules would solve half of the nonsense, along with removing that stupid gather step, these things make it impossible to guard someone on 3pt line next thing to fix is the absurd contract situation, where 2-3mil/year players must play all the games when 50min/year prima donas sit out because they feel like it, give teams right to tare up such contracts and invest in players who actually want to play and compete, because the current situation is just ridiculous
@dsfs17987 yea but physical defense doesn't allow them to freely move and do these useless dribble moves, doesn't matter how much they carry.. Case and point Durant against the Boston Celtics. It showed everyone a 7 footer has no business playing like a guard if they don't outlaw defense
@@dsfs17987 we have to have a balance though, because if we call all the calls and then also have the physical defense, then the game would go back to the dead ball era where it was also boring. They should start little by little by first actually calling the calls properly for a year, and aggressively calling techs for flopping. Then if it's still too much 3pters, then allow for more contact on defense (like any incidental contact made after a shot being a no call rather than the foul that it is right now)
I think if refereeing changed then that would help the league more than them focusing on how many threes are taken. Defenders should be able to play defense. Refs should call offensive fouls on players who are forcing unnecessary contact with defenders. This last change might encourage more threes, but the league needs to get rid of the three second rule. Big like Embiid will be in the paint more and guards will take most of the threes.
Agreed! Taking away the three second rule would bring back the real big man play & they wouldn’t be shooting multiple 3s. Also allowing more physicality on defense would bring back the intensity the league needs now more than ever
The example you show @7:22 is super stupid, since it's just highest overall scoring team with no context. You should use points per posession or points per shot attempt instead. The overall highest scoring might aswell be because of some wierd rules that year that was exploited etc. Game was just completely different back in the late 70's early 80's.
Teams can still get really high point totals by effectively attacking the cup, drawing fouls and making mid-range jump shots. Point is jacking up a bunch of threes possession after possession isn’t the only way for teams to score significantly no matter the era
@@_Amir1220 most 3s are uncontested because nobody is allowed to play or cares to play defense.. In an era where teams play defense and have a basketball IQ above 5 a long 3 point attempt would be like a turnover.
Bringing back physical defense would solve all of it.

The 2 best reasons I've heard are 1. Lack of drama, 2. Hard to watch, to many distributors, no central location to watch

Adam Silver ruined the game that we truly love 🤦🏾♂️ 💔
It looks like you were right about USC beating the UCONN. Its only halftime but they are beating the breaks off of them. I was wrong.
Like I stated, Southern California defense is too good 🔒
We got a game now !
@@_Amir1220 For sure! UCONN fought their way back.
