Star would’ve been so raw if she was introduced earlier in the story. She had a lot of parallels with how Jujutsu Kaisen uses Yuki. But the main difference is that yuki was name dropped and shown at least a few times before she 1v1s the big bad in a huge showcase of power. If Star was shown even as early as Kamino (just reacting to allmight retiring) I think this arc wouldn’t be as bad

I think star and stripes biggest issue is she was nothing but a plot device used by the author to nerf shigaraki and to give the heros time to prep. She leaves just as fast as she came, it's just bad writing by the author.

It’d be like if hawks was first shown during the war and the story just tells us “he befriended twice”. It’d seem like a horrible plot device because nothing was set up for that pay off. Stars arc feels like a giant pay off to chapters of build up that don’t exist

The Doctor proposed the quirk singularly doomsday theory would happen in a few generations(not including quirks being jampacked into one body that's constantly evolving like Tomura but a natural occurrence). And I fully believe that if this lady had ANY kids, they would be the cause of it. She could literally bend reality with very few restrictions. And it implies that her mindset was holding her power back a bit too. The world would have to hope with all of its heart and soul that said child never turned to villainy.

I feel like the stars and stripe arc would work better as a movie where they could flesh out her character more so people wouldn’t have as much of an issue with that storyline. Kinda like the demon slayer movie.

@@Bori.1776 she isn't stronger than Allmight. Yes, she is second strongest given her broken but powerful quirk, she didn't have the firepower or final attack needed to finish Shigaraki. That's why she had to rely on intercontinental missiles. She stated that herself. Her quirk has a limitation on how powerful it make make her.
The fact that Allmight has defeated all for One makes you realise how bad ass Peak Allmight was
The craziest thing is that Deku will be far more powerfull than Allmighty. He has access to previous user quirks, while Allmight never reached such connection with OFA. Also he is "next user" which means OFA got more powerfull.

If Star had made it to Izuku, he could have given her OFA temporarily, so that he could add New Order to his stockpile. Or she could have used OFA to become even more busted. No wonder AFO decided she needed to be dealt with quickly.

It's stockpiling strenght, which includes life force, and for them to die prematurelg means some get shaven off but there was somebody who trained in the woods for 30 years or so and lived long enough to transfer his quirk and Nana did transfer her quirk so only some years get shaven off the overall amount instead of them instantly dying like you claim.

I feel like Star could've survived if she had more of a ideology of the smoke screen user. Remember he told Deku he was relying to much on his quirks, instead of using them like tools in a tool box. If she used more of a defensive stance, kept Shiggy back while they kept pushing towards Japan, where other heroes where waiting, instead of the I can do this all by myself act she would of had way better odds. I mean one instance could be instead of making the atmosphere dissappear she could of thickened it to slow him down. Also her huge stand from could of kept pushing shigaraki back while they speed towards land. Idk she had an amazing quirk that was all purposeful, but her mindset did not match. Her utilization of her quirk was pretty much all offensive. She really beat herself, with her decision making and bad utilization of her quirk.
I blame the author, you can't be the number 1 hero and do what she did, This pissed me off.

And if what she needed was Shigiraki's true name, was it that hard to prepare and do extensive research to give her multiple names to use in case some identities didn't work?
Order poisonous gases to infiltrate his body? Order all blood present within a space Shigikari's occupies to dry up and disappear? Order all organs within a box made of the thickest material to just stop functioning after trapping Shigiraki in the box? Ordering the nomus to destroy themselves and their fellows? Idk it really feels like she was still under used

@@mochacup1868 The American way is to use intelligence and not brute force. So I agree, Other countries try to use brute force and it doesn't work. This was a huge disappointment. I think it's similar to the ending of Game of Thrones. I'd rather have Star and Stripes than Mirio any day, but in the end, she did release some of the quirks. Americans are known for service and sacrifice. Lots of wars were fought overseas.
@MochaCup Thats the problem with writing reality warping powers. Characters with that power could just end the story right there, keeping story progression becomes a nightmare. I kind of feel that is what happen with Star. The author realized the monster he created by giving her this quirk, and decided better not do that. Everytime she would of showed up it presented way to many options. So the author decided to kill her off. (That's all head Canon).

Here’s what I’m wondering: why didn’t they kill all for one while he was imprisoned within Tartarus? They were able to bring Aizawa in for investigating Kurogiri. Just have him nullify AFO’s quirks, and dump 100 mags into that moldy baked potato.

I heard about this fight a couple months back, and how Star and Stripes had one of the most broken quirks and I have to say, it would have done the story better if she was at least mentioned earlier in the story, perhaps All Might has met her in the past since she's just as big a fan of his as Deku and much like Deku, she styled her hero look after him. Then we get more hints to her presence in the world like how she stopped a tornado(without explanation), how she took down a super strong villain, how she saved people from a sinking cruise ship etc, that sort of thing, building her up both as a character, and as a powerful hero that could be worthy of the top rank of the US.
We then maybe either see or hear(from All Might) about her reaction to his retirement after his colossal fight with All for One, and how she wants to visit him to both make sure he's okay as again, he's her idol-and to help the Japanese heroes hunt down the LoVs, with the story adding it every now and then as the villains grow bolder that she's getting insistent about heading over to help despite the lack of an formal requests from Japan, which also serves to show her brash nature.
We then get a scene where the hero commission president telling Hawks, or perhaps her advisor that she's been pushing to reject Star and Stripes requests for two reasons. The first being that she's comparable to All Might, both in power and public image so while her helping could be a boon for them as it would help ease people's minds and threaten the league's existence, it would also make it clear to the people and the villains that they don't have a local replacement for All Might so they're start to worry about what comes after she leaves, while the League could simply go to ground like the Taliban and wait for her to be forced to return to the US. So if she did show up and help, it would be a short-term fix as she couldn't stay indefinitely, not when she has her own country-one far larger then Japan, to care for.
The second being that heroes leaving their countries to help others with villain problems is something that only ever happens when the situation is extremely dire-like a threat to global security dire, which is something that has never happened-instead merely been discussed at the UN as even when AFO for at his peak, no foreign heroes came to Japan to assist them. So they're holding out on it as they still think they can contain the threat posed by the league, which thanks to Hawk's work-is something they now have the info to do...
...Then the war arc happens and they realize that the league, now reformed into the PLF is too much of a threat for them to handle as their top ten were either defeated(and seriously wounded like Hawks and Mikro) or killed (RIP Crust)in the fighting, along with many other pros and several cities having been destroyed by Gigantomachia alone, so it's not so much that the prison breaks force their hands, as they were already moving to call in back-up. All that build up would make her that much more of a physical threat to the PLF and AFO's plans, and it would likewise make her lose to Shigaraki that much more devastating as while he bested Endeavour, he was never close to All Might's level, so while impressive it isn't THAT impressive. But thanks to the previous build-up, Star and Stripes is(was) so her lose would really stand as the moment where the world just watches in fear as one of their titans of peace and order falls to the Symbol of Ruin, Tomura Shigaraki.
Sidenote: Just how old is All Might? he saved Star and Stripes when she was a child and he was around college age, so he's at least 10-12 years older and then there's Endeavour who only married and had kids after failing to best him through his own efforts, and while both went to UA-neither ever even imply that they knew each other while there so he must be at least 3 years older then Endeavour and would have left UA before he enrolled. So my best guess is that All Might's around his mid to late 50s which considering his injuries, really shows you how much of a busted quirk OFA is to allow him to manage to hold into that title for so long, and still be considered a mountain that no-one could ever surpass
I hear what you’re saying and to a certain extent I see what you’re saying. It would be cool to get some prior build up to Star and Stripe, but I don’t think it’s necessary for a couple reasons.
The more we heard about her the more questions there would be, and with a broken quirk like hers, where was she in the War Arc? Why didn’t she show up then? It would become too convoluted and having too many characters to juggle it can become hard to keep them all in the spotlight (I mean not even all the students are fully developed yet).
We do have to keep in mind, this is Japan. While All Might had a tenure as an American hero, he is primarily a Japanese hero. And Star and Stripe is primarily an American one. Unless it’s a world ending event (like the advent of Shigiraki and All for One) news probably wouldn’t spread unless you were looking for it, and Cathleen only met All Might once, he wouldn’t be looking for news from her. She may have been following his career (we know this from her chapters) but he wasn’t even AWARE of hers.
Last thing, characters all have purposes. But sometimes a static character is needed to die to showcase something important. We’ve had an entire arc watching Deku grow and become a formidable hero in his own right, but Shigiraki has kinda been out of commission during that whole arc. To set up for the final fight, you gotta show that your villain is just as powerful (or in this case more) to start hyping up the fight. Which brings us to Star and Stripe. She plays the role of Muscular in the Dark Deku arc. Must be defeated to showcase the power of the villain. Star and Stripe is basically a female All Might. That’s what she needs to be. An obstacle to be destroyed to show his power. Which sucks cause we lost an interesting character, but was needed because now the pressures on Deku and UA to bring him down.
What if all the top heroes from every continent went up against Shigaraki?
the paperwork would be insane , the governments are too corrupt, lazy and prideful to allow for such a thing. But honestly, it would be the best case scenario.

Star fought OFA with all quirks active. If she made it to UA and fought along Deku and Eraserhead they would have won easily.
Bra should have said, "stars and stripes instantly erases anything she touches from existence." Then jumped at shiggy, erased him, undid the command so she wouldn't delete the landing fighter jet. Credits roll, epilogue deku being like "who was I preparing to fight?"
It doesn't work like that, there's a certain cap or limit to every rule, just like how she couldn't make herself as physically strong as all might. If she truly wants to one shot someone, she has to know their names specifically

Since the debut of Stars And Stripes and that Air Force squad commanded to her it brought me a question: Does military forces still exist in MHA world ? If it does how do it works ? And then i elaborated a theory. I have a theory, that pros heroes in other countries work differently because the presence of militaries
With the emergence of the professional hero system, a feud arose between the militaries forces, who felt their importance and jobs threatened by the pro heroes. Possessing several differences in their way of thinking and acting, various conflicts between the two defense forces ensued. Having of course the victory of pro-heroes supremacy in Japan, although it is not possible to say how it is in other countries.
This could actually work and it makes sense for other countries to have different systems, maybe where the both forces military and pro heroes work together, or another where the military is the one who controls all the heroes and etc.
And Japan being fully relied on heroes, being the exception.
Japan is not allowed to have a typical army as per the terms of their surrender in WW2. They are allowed a self defense force and have the backing of the US Military in the event of a war.

My thought would be since heroes (in japan and apparently america) are considered gov entities, most other countries probably have both and heroes are just a different part of the military. reminiscent of the nat guard vs the army

Honestly I don't mind the fact that star was brought up so late in the story to die. I mean she technically was shown prior in the story and her existence allowed the heroes to study shigaraki in advance due the data the USA soldiers gathered and the quirks she destroyed in their fight likely will be relevant soon since Shigi is back. It could have been better but it's still not terrible. Too bad she didn't even get a scene where she meets All Might

The writing so far has been amazing. But they did her bad. Could have fleshed her stories more before they put her out. But glad everyone has a positive outlook on her character. For a very short segment. She really was a heroes hero.

I think Star and Stripe vs Shigaraki will be the final episode of Season 6 just like Season 4’s final episode is Endeavor vs Hood “High-End Nomu” like Season 4 is Shie Hassaikai, Remedial Course & UA School Festival arcs and includes 2 beginning episodes from Pro Hero arc and aftermath is on Season 5 premiere and Season 6 will do the same like Season 4 did like it’s Paranormal Liberation War and Tartarus Escapees arcs and add missing scenes from Meta Liberation Army aka My Villain Academia and Star and Stripe arc will adapt chapters 329 to 332 and chapters 333 to 334 will be just partially on Season 6 finale the rest of aftermath will be on Season 7 premiere

Didnt like how they literally killed her off in just a few chapters. after the last episode of MHA i decided to read ahead casue i wanted to know more about star and stripes and i kinda liked her character design and personality. She was a true hero didnt want to sacerfice her soldier friend so she let herself get touch to take away AFO quicks. plus didnt she say "i will not decay" i thought she would survived.. Would had loved to see Cathleen bate meet All might again even if her quick was gone..

I think the problem with this fight is that everyone knew exactly how it would play out the second it began. Star thinks she beat shigaraki, she didn't, she's dead. I literally said the steps while I read.

There's just one glaring pothole with this fight. Shig-for-one has a quirk that reflects back lasers. He's then later blasted by the lance laser, but completely forgets that lasers are useless against him. Huh?
Wonder if her quirk could have worked on gravity. If so, just send him into orbit or crush him. I mean if it works with atmosphere, then it seems like gravity might be doable.
Im really curious as to why shigarakis hair grew so much. Really hope we get an explanation in the current arc. Personally i think it has to do with the Tomura personality rebeling against the afo. Dunno why but thats what im leaning too
His body adapting to the quirk and situation he is in. This was stated when he started growing hands out of his body.

Yeah part of how he adapts is "Growth" so we can see the Hair growth and the electric explosion as a precursor to his growth currently and the massive explosion at U.A
The weirdest arc ever. They introduced a powerful female protagonist who had an amazing quirk and they killed her just as quickly as they introduced her.

If she were to remain alive the final battle would have ended in one page due to the fact that she has an overpowering quirk

Idk about anyone else but i didnt need sns introduce earlier she is the equivalent to high end we met during the pro hero arc, someone there to serve a quick purpose cor the story and provide a good battle

It would be cool to get some prior build up to Star and Stripe, but I don’t think it’s necessary for a couple reasons.
The more we heard about her the more questions there would be, and with a broken quirk like hers, where was she in the War Arc? Why didn’t she show up then? It would become too convoluted and having too many characters to juggle it can become hard to keep them all in the spotlight (I mean not even all the students are fully developed yet).
We do have to keep in mind, this is Japan. While All Might had a tenure as an American hero, he is primarily a Japanese hero. And Star and Stripe is primarily an American one. Unless it’s a world ending event (like the advent of Shigiraki and All for One) news probably wouldn’t spread unless you were looking for it, and Cathleen only met All Might once, he wouldn’t be looking for news from her. She may have been following his career (we know this from her chapters) but he wasn’t even AWARE of hers.
Last thing, characters all have purposes. But sometimes a static character is needed to die to showcase something important. We’ve had an entire arc watching Deku grow and become a formidable hero in his own right, but Shigiraki has kinda been out of commission during that whole arc. To set up for the final fight, you gotta show that your villain is just as powerful (or in this case more) to start hyping up the fight. Which brings us to Star and Stripe. She plays the role of Muscular in the Dark Deku arc. Must be defeated to showcase the power of the villain. Star and Stripe is basically a female All Might. That’s what she needs to be. An obstacle to be destroyed to show his power. Which sucks cause we lost an interesting character, but was needed because now the pressures on Deku and UA to bring him down.
Stars and Stripes devalued the greatness of MHA, that's how awful it was. Jujutsu Kaisen just said "hold my beer."
If she arrived during the first war arc against a Quirkless 75% Shigaraki. Shigaraki would have been dead. No question.
She still has no way of negating his decay as shown, without her pilots assistance she could still struggle against 75% shigaraki, unless he's quirkless due to aizawa's erasure like you mentioned but then again not a fair and square 1v1 anymore, not like it was the case
@@leeleelee7878 Fair points all around. Imagine if she increased the oxygen in the air around Shigaraki and Endeavor used prominence burn. A Quirkless Shiggy without being able to regenerate would burn to a crisp.
The fastest arc in history. We just need one episode of this and move on to be honest.

How old is she? Cause she looks about 7 when all might saved her as a kid. That was at the start of all might’s time as a hero. He had one for all for about 40 years before passing it on. So she must be in her mid-late 40’s.
I honestly kind of hope that the anime makes star and stripes more tame in power so that the plot armor of Shigaraki doesn’t become too obvious

The doctor explicitly stated that shigaraki is the masterpiece of his creation above all else including the highend nomu, if the near highend nomu who was weaker than him tanked the whole thing, shigaraki also could if he truly wanted to because he has the exact same durability as them if not higher
