Wow! Thank You for that hint, I already been using AI mask in Lr, but never thought to make it even simpler by making presets with it. Cool stuff!
Sorry to comment again but - you can mask just the clothes by 1st masking the entire person and then "subtract" the person's "face skin, hand skin" etc. That leaves only the clothes. I've played with it a bit and it seems to work pretty well. With your technique using presets, this should be a winner. Thanks again for the great video.
Now I've got to try making a preset to do this! **UPDATE: THIS PRESET HAS NOW BEEN ADDED TO THE AI ENGINE TOOLKIT!***
You can also use the object selection tool.
@@SignatureEdits then I will buy it for sure 😀 your tips are great...
I'm not sure will LR remove head on every other photo since the brush is separate job on each person. But i will give it a try and make a preset myself.
@@SignatureEdits did you end up adding this preset to the one you sell?
Thanks Ryan, this is BRILLIANT. I had no idea you could create presets using these tools. I only wish I could work even half as quickly as you, but I’m getting better!! Your videos are awesome!
Thanks so much Simon! Agreed, I had the same reaction when I found out you could do AI presets! Have fun making yours 😃
Just few days ago i have done all this and my head was like, wooow, this is awesome. 2 seconds for cloning and now its an easy job to work with editing portraits, just love new LR! Made myself ai presets for various occasions, but youve gone a bit further fore more versions of portraits. Great job!
Thank you Ryan, this is really supportive and you have shown me how to save so much time knowing that these AI features are so good in Lightroom
BOOM, dramatically reduced my editing time and your video gas been fantastic in opening my eyes to the power of LRC when creating personal presets! Thanks.
Great video, very helpful. As for selecting clothes, you can do that indirectly by selecting subject and subtracting hair, eyes, lips teeth mouth skin and so on. Then you create a preset and it is ready.
This is SO cool. I've already created two AI presets, one to enhance the face and another to darken and soften the background. Can't wait to create more. Thanks for the lesson!
Hello Ryan, thanks for a lot of useful hints and tricks that make editing easier and faster! - I'd like to add another suggestion for retouching the clothes, especially if there is one colour only: choose entire person, click intersect with, click color range, draw a rectangle within the shirt or dress (or click up to five different points): done. Very useful also, when you have e.g. blue trousers and a yellow shirt.
So glad I follow you! Thank you for sharing this! Can't wait to use it in my next gallery!
Glad you got some helpful content Ramona!
Thank you, I learned so much from this video as a new comer to digital editing. I downloaded the AI tool kit and am having fun !!
Wow, this was so helpful. I have a couple of thousand photos to edit from Carnival in Venice last month. What a life saver, THANK YOU!!
This is amazing. I am glad it has finally been introduced. Even though it still has some glitches here and there, it is quite a lifesaver.
Love how clear you are. Understanding what works well makes all the difference.
So glad to hear that! Thanks for watching :)
Love how organized your presets are, newly subbing! Great tips and video.

Some great tips! Thanks!
Wow! Thanks for sharing!
Gtreat stuff! I was trying to decide which preset package I should buy as there's so many out there now. I think just getting to know how to use what's already in Lightroom will be the best way for my to get good results and increase my knowledge of how to get them. Thanks heaps!
I see the power of these but what I see more clearly is the incredibly easy to understand way you showcased this, so thank you!
So glad to hear it Jeremy! Thanks my friend :)
Thanks for creating this video -useful

I love everything he produces… I purchased his Seo/presets/everything else bundle and it’s just a a gift that keeps on giving 😊 I know that he talks fast but for me it’s just what I need someone to show me that it can all be done in a fraction of a time. I’m the type that just stares at an image for hours 😅😅😅
Wow thank you so much Agnieszka! So good to hear the SEO course has gotten you results and the other resources are helping you 😃
Appreciated this comment. And yes, I am guilty of talking too fast sometimes 😅
Stay awesome!
Lol ... I do that alot too!

To use the heal/content aware in the same spot multiple times just uncheck the "show overlay" option :)
or press the command key and select the area from which the pattern is selected.
Great video, another way to select clothing is select person and then colour range.
Great tip Frans!!! Thank you!!!
This channel is GOLD
THANK YOU! Super glad to hear it was helpful :)
I gotta play with this!! Pretty cool!!
It’s genius! It’s a life saver for me when i have to edit my events.
NEXT LEVEL
The workflow is interesting, however, I still enjoy starting with presets as the foundation for anything I work on. I have discovered that presets, especially the better ones can take you 80% of the way, leaving the final 20% for you to complete. Have recently been using Alex Ruskman's stuff which cover quite a lot of ground (mostly a film look) which definitely do the trick for me.
For someone like me this will save a LOT of time. Many photographers in my area do photo shoots and deliver 5 - 7 images and tell the client "Hey, I have more....but it will cost you". I, on the other hand, deliver all quality photos that I took during the shoot. It could be 20 or even 50 which is a lot of editing time. This type of workflow will make this process a lot easier. Thank you for the video
Glad to hear it & glad it's going to save you so much time! Thanks for the comment :)
Don't deliver all the photos. That's costing you a lot of money and time is money. 3-7 images at a set price and charge $15-25 an image after that. You don't want to give things away, that's how you get stuck in that hole that's hard to get out of.
@@ozarksdigitalcreations9254 Great tips to consider! You're definitely right that doing a set limit + upgraded shots decreases workflow & adds extra $$ potential :)
if you're really busy in general giving your clients all the images. Then you're not charging enough. If you're giving clients all the images from the shoot and you're not very busy then your work needs improving. If your session rate includes the time it takes to edit all the images then no problem. Personally, I only want my best work out in the wild. I would never dream of giving a client 50 images for just a session fee.
Very good tutorial, thanks!
Glad u enjoyed Stefan!
Awesome!!!
This so clutch!!
Thanks For sharing this was a great! You have so many presets saved, and I like our style. is there an option to purchase your pre made presets?
Thanks for this - really useful. I’m not a pro but I reckon I could make use of… some of this, although certainly not all as an amateur.
Great job with the video, quick tip…. I would apply all the AI stuff, especially the removal/erase before the edit of colors and light. AI will get confuse when you edit light and color and will be more attempt to mistakes.
Super succinct !
This. Is. Awesome!!!
THANKS!
This is GREAT!!!
Thanks Michael!!!
Did you know that if you hit the "H" key on content aware fill, it will hide the outline of the selection, and you can click over the current selection to go over it again? Game changer!
WOAH. This is an AWESOME trick! Thank you!!!
@@SignatureEdits Sure thing! It works on the other brush tools too. Thanks for the tutorial! 🥰
Thanks. I learned the clone stamp lick and draw into a area you couldn't due to an existing mask.
Glad you got something Steve! Cheers!
Thank you for your sharing. It's very nice
Thank you! Cheers!
Literally seconds before you said "hopefully you see the powerful nature of this" I said out loud "Hooollly shit!" 😂 spot on
Funciona a la perfección, mil millones de gracias!!!!!! :D
Helpful video,keep it u
Thanks a lot!
Thanks Enjoyed this
Thanks so much Melissa! Glad you got something to apply 🙂
Great Video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
honestly very helpful
Glad you think so! Thanks Moses
great information
awesome it`s work.... thank brow....
You're welcome! Glad it worked
That’s really great. Thank.
Glad you liked it! Thanks Michael!!
I found this useful thank you....
wow! extremely interesting and useful!
Glad you think so Susan!
Me gusto tanto tu contenido que inicié seción solo para darte like :), sigue así
works everything fine, thx
Great!
In order to select the dress try the following. So SELECT the subject and then INTERSECT it with SELECT COLOR of the actual clothing color (s). Works great unless the dress is also skin toned
Great tip! Hopefully next update Lightroom will actually ADD THIS as a selection, instead of having to do this workaround :)
My only concern with preset masking is that the masking is never perfect and you typically need to do some level of adjustment. It probably helps to quickly add affects to specific areas, but you have to make sure to double check the mask.
You can control the amount of feathering on your masks to ensure there are no harsh lines when applying effects to an imperfect mask.
The problem with removing the balloons is a bit of a bug, you currently need to remove them first and THEN apply the mask, because the content aware fill is not using the mask to get the final result. Good video, thanks!
You are totally correct that you have to take the balloons out before you create the sky mask
Terrific video
Awesome tutorial Signature Edits! Much appreciatedI was wondering Iam so frustrated. Cant you tell me real quick. I know how to isolate a subject from my image with lightroom 2023 AI from background now all I want to do is save that isolated subject as a transparent PNG. Is there a fast simple way to do that? Maybe you can recommend a tutorial or just explain real quick. Thanks so much:) IcloneFun
Excellent video on the awesome update. Now they need to update mobile app so if you work back & forth those new masks are editable on phone too
That would be incredibly cool Ken! Agreed :) Glad you enjoyed!
Got a new subscriber!

Fantastic video
Thank you Tim!!
Great video. - thank you!
Adobe just cannot seem to nail the erase function.
Luminar has a much better erase function so I use the Luminar Plug In when a quick erase is needed.
Mind blown!
YES! Glad you got something Ray :)
Awesome
Would be great if you could also show settings you’ve used for various presets.
I'm interested in purchasing these presets. Were they updated with more presets that apply to the cloths and newer Adobe updates?
Thanks. Very handy, time saving tips. Time is money and sanity. Lol.😂
You bet Mark - I agree! 😅
The problem with erasing the balloons happens if you have done significant editing on the area. My experience is you have to spot out the items first and then do the rest of your editing on the photo. Otherwise, you can spot erase in Photoshop. This issue feels like a bug to me, but I'm too lazy to report it to Adobe.
Great video. Thanks and keep posting!
Interesting insight! I wonder if Lightroom editing layers are working in the background, and that's why if you do spot remove first the layers work better....? Either way, hopefully they fix it. Thanks for the tips Elkaran! Comments always appreciated :)
@@SignatureEdits Here's what Adobe is saying:
"This is current as-designed behavior.
The expected workflow is to correct spots (Content Aware Heal, Spot Heal Tool, Clone Tool) prior to using any AI Masking (Sky, Subject, Object, People, etc.)
Using the Healing tools after applying an AI Selection Mask will likely show artifacts where they overlap.
Rikk Flohr - Customer Advocacy: Adobe Photography Products"
I personally think its a bug that might not be "fixable" in LR. Like I said earlier, taking the photo to PS and using the spot healing tool there works fine.
Regards
@@eavilev Wow next level investigative work! Thanks for that :) I agree with your theory...Good to know that if there are issues though, a person just needs to do the spot removal FIRST in the editing process.. MIght need to change my workflow :)
@@SignatureEdits Problem is many of the problems needing spot removal don't appear until after the edits. I found it particularly acute with dehaze on the sky. Sensor spots show up like crazy and you cannot remove them in Lightroom with this problem. If you move the picture into Photoshop, then the spot removal problem is fixed, but the results leaves you with a new entry in the LR catalogue, which is fine, but without history.
IMHO, Adobe has a problem here and they are not acknowledging the real issue. It might not be fixable. Look through their technical support entries. You can see they are trying to talk their way around this instead of owning up to the issue and admiting this might not be "fixable" for now.
@@eavilev dang that is frustrating! fingers crossed they’ll address it. time will tell
Incroyable
Oui!
Cool, You can combine presets on top now like layers in Lr?
Great video
Thanks Scott! Glad it was helpful :)
Although not the focus of your vid, I mostly find the content aware fill in LR to fail to deliver in pretty major ways and the clone stamp also real hit or miss, unless the area sampled is virtually identical to the area to be applied. If I use clone, I often end up then applying heal to help blend and make the edit unnoticeable.
Oh man I soooo agree! Sometimes it is like the tool gets WORSE with each update instead of better 😅 Fingers crossed next update adds generative AI instead… but tbh even THAT i find super hit or miss!
Forget when when did you got me updated. But I have been enjoy this for a while. But sometimes may struggle little bit in foggy situation on moutain in layers like landscape. I still need use brushing manually select the target area. Hope Adobe may make it goes advanced in future as AI photo is getting popular
Game changer I usually use acr but this made me switch!!
You're actually able to update any AI mask after you do your edits! Click on the mask, and then there will be an update button at the top of right panel that you can click on that will redo the mask with any healing you've done. So in the example with the hot air balloons, once you've healed them, you can update that mask and those bright spots will be fixed
12:42 mist filter
Haha YEEEEES! I couldnt believe I gapped on that one 😅
Black pro mist filter!
I've discovered that you can save the masks you've created. Really cool. Thanks a loOot.
In my experience, however, the masks I used to import from one photo to another,
and especially from one character to another, are rarely accurate. I often spend an infinite amount of time removing / adding areas of them.
There's an important question I'd like to know the answer to...
Is it possible to subtract a previously created mask from a new one?
For example, new selection (the sky) + subtract a mask/shape I've drawn myself already (not a generic mask like LR Classic offers...).
I hope I've made myself sufficiently clear.
Thanks for any help !
You can select her clothing by choosing the person and then interact the mask with the color range.
Great point!!! Someone else also suggested selecting the subject then subtracting the skin, but a single "select clothing" button would def save a lot of time!
Although now I'm curious.... I wonder if I can do that with a preset of my own?!
Danke!
Bitte!
