Thank you, this is one of the clearest explanations I've seen to help figure out what I'm missing. Especially thank you for wearing a shirt and then showing us what your shoulder blades are doing on your back.
I appreciate your feedback! Thank you for watching 🙏🏼
Excellent explanation, thank-you. I guess where I've gone wrong before, and ended up with excruciating shoulder pain, was in tucking the elbows in close to the sides. But so so many practitioners on here tell you to do that. I would really like to incorporate push-ups into my routine, but there's no way I'm risking another injury. Might start again on the wall first, maybe.
Love to hear it. Let us know how these modifications work for you!
All b.s if u squeez your armpits like u gotta golf ball in there its all loaded off u elbow- how do i know i just retired as in infantry og marine- fuckin subject matter expert 😅
This video is brilliant, I watched hundreds of videos on fitness etc and this one is one of the best. Thank you for your work 🙏🏻

Doc Jen...what would I do without you?? 😁
haha thank you for watching!
I really appreciate this super thorough explanation! A couple of months ago I was trying to do pushups (after the wall, I tried kneeling pushups) and found out my arms were flared too wide. So I tried to tuck my arms in and I felt some weird crackling in my shoulder and things felt weird and kinda misaligned, cue lots of unpleasant pain the next day. I figured it was an impingement and after some weeks the pain is mostly gone.
I'm a very heavy set person (over 300 pounds) and I've been trying really hard to get into working out and calisthenics this year. It was really discouraging to get this injury because I know my weight and overall level of weakness was a significant contributor to that injury.
It hasn't stopped me from getting back into the swing of things again though! I've decided to use resistance band exercises, and focus on the muscles around my shoulders so I can hopefully avoid this in the future. Thank you again for your time and this video!
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch & for sharing your experience with us!
Thank you for this. Currently trying to fix that pain. I think another thing that yoga instructors tell you is the 90⁰ angle of the wrist which is so unnatural for some people. People end up putting too much pressure on the shoulders
Absolutely! Glad you found this helpful!
So precisely...cleared the doubt.Tnx
You're most welcome!
SUPERIOR INFO!! Thank you so much!

It is very useful video but if we want to do normal straight floor push up and decline push up in shoulder pain, then how to do and improve the pain ? Please guide
If the push up itself is causing pain then there isn't a ton you can do other than modify until your body is strong enough to handle that movement. You could always try setting up a band that is hooked to a rack and then wrap it around your waist to give some assistance in the push up. This might help you keep better form and reduce the pain.
@@docjenfit Thats better option to do a incline push up till that my shoulder get stronger enough to take a full body load in standard push ups...Thanks
Sometimes I feel a sharp pain in the base of my neck during pushups. I will try your suggestions to see if fixes this also. Thank you!
Hope it helps relieve some of this pain!
Hello doc. i had a problem with my shoulders few days back, i haven't done push up programs in like a year and half i decided to try em out again and the next day i got a really severe pain on my shoulders and it didn't feel like a muscle tear. I Went to a physiotherapist after that because it was really discomforting pain. I was then told i stressed my ligaments due to my weight during my push up exercise. Please I'm so curious to know what this is about because i still feel the pain up till now.
It definitely could have just overstretched or stressed the tissues in the front of the shoulder if you weren't used to doing them. I'd recommend trying some of the suggestions in this video and even starting with a really easy progression like push-ups against a wall and then a high chair or table to progress back to floor push ups
Omg what a beautiful woman
Bet!
Damb this girl is fine.
lol thanks!
