I'm from Baltimore and I always thought about living in San Diego one day or California in general. I'm about to graduate from college with a bachelor's degree in Information Technology and it's nice to hear that San Diego is a good spot for tech jobs. Never know.
Prices are definitely going to increase over the years when these Technology Companies come to San Diego. More housing will have to be built. Traffic commute might be longer than what it is now, but we will see what happens within the next few years.
The places these tech companies are such as San Fran, LA, and even NY have become absolute drug dens filled with OD and crime. Absolute horror. San Diego is actually nice. Don’t come here.
I love living in san diego. Generally, the further away from the ocean the more affordable the housing. If you dont mind being 40 min from the beach then there are plenty of awesome places to live and Dan named them all he knows his stuff
Be careful of wildfire hazard areas, which would be most of the areas mentioned. That means it can be difficult to obtain homeowners insurance, or insurance providers that provide home insurance are going to charge yearly significant increases
Yes that's definitely an issue here in SD. There are tools online to figure out whether or not it's an issue, but you can also check with your insurance provider once you find a home to see if it's in a high fire hazard zone, and what that premium would look like.
the best cities are going to become gilded communities for people who can afford the price tag in the future we're already seeing that now unless housing changes meaningfully soon.
I'm a local. If you come here be prepared for a big pay cut via higher cost of living and soaring inflation. The homeless are everywhere. You can run but you can't hide. My advice: don't come here.
Appreciate the local perspective, and you're right, San Diego's cost of living is definitely higher. However, for many, the lifestyle and opportunities here outweigh the financial adjustments.
@@House_hacker_619 agreed about inventory, I just wanted to know the sources for this video. Hopefully all 3 companies news are relatively recent, and not something from 2018.
Apple is bringing 5k employees down through 2026 (and talking to Apple employees it might actually be a bigger number than that). I've also worked with several employees with Amazon Web Services, and they've explained to me that we can expect Amazon to follow Apple with more satellite offices because they are a MASSIVE account for Amazon Web Services. This was really designed more as a resource for tech workers relocating to San Diego than anything else, and there is no doubt more tech jobs are on there way to SD.
This is horrible. It's just going to increase demand for housing even more and the cost of living is going to get so high that only wealthy people can afford to live here. We need to vote out all of the politicians who approved this. How would this ever be good?
So, San Diego is “reserved “ for rich folks only? Where are people that work in sales, restaurants, live? I don’t think they make that much to afford these expensive areas.
agreed, its bad enough San Diego has so much red tape in place making even building affordable apartments for the residents that already live here difficult, the last thing we need is more traffic (our public transport is awful!), pooping in the streets & rampet theft at our local stores, keep that stuff in San Francisco.

@DanPBestLifeSD Yeah, but Silicone Valley is a physical place. A lot of tech start-ups started popping up in one geographic location, and that geographic location is referred to as silicone valley. Amazon is from Washington and not Silicone Valley.
Don’t move here. The homelessness, crime, and rampant drug use is out of control. It used to be nice but you can’t go anywhere without the homeless epidemic, with is sad, but also scary and potentially dangerous.

I can just imagine the average bay area tech worker watching this video: "$1.5 million? That's a steal! 30 minute drive? Awesome!"
accurate
It's a wild market up there for sure

And there's so much red tape and hoops to jump though to get housing built already...its gonna get 10x worse.
i think prices will just rise, and non tech will be priced out
I fear all of that will bring the drugs and crime just like how it DESTROYED San Fran and LA.
Cool now the Techies are gonna Pump and Dump SD like they did in the Bay Area.

Yes. These beautiful cities will be for the extremely wealthy at some point. San Diego now is a pipe dream for many
Ah great houses going to go up not like they were already too high
Whatever happened to the "tech campus" thay was supposedly going to Horton Plaza?

Google has been laying off in San Diego
Also, could not find any news of google announcing a hiring in the hundreds or more in SD?
Hiring or no hiring it doesn’t matter we have no inventory

They rent with a lot of roommates.
Amazon 300 jobs...that news was from 2018? I couldnt find anything more recent...
Just hope the politics don’t follow the big tech companies. Changes to the city are already very noticeable since Todd Gloria
like what kind of changes? just curious.

I’ve got some good rentals for these techies. Would love them as tenants
Good renters coming soon
