I fell out at "everybody knows this is where you bottoms brunch" damm I'm gonna miss those 1liners from Candy that were so on point
That part and "I assume she's a scorpio" took me out lmaoooo
That was my favorite line. Angela said it was an ad-lib. She was supposed say something like "This is where you ingrates hang out". But she changed the line herself. She talks about it here in this interview (here on youtube: Angelica Ross Talks POSE “Candy’s Final Moments")

perri 6 No. If I’m remembering the sequence correctly, she never looks at the camera or addresses us, the audience, directly. She is still very much in the world of Pose and is engaging with the characters so the Fourth Wall - through which we watch the show - is still very much intact

Miss Candy (Angelica Ross) is such a phenomenal and talented actress (comedy AND drama) that she should receive her own, well-deserved spin-off.

I love Pray Tell but he was in the wrong for shutting Candy down like that. At LEAST she was someone from the community bringing some ideas to the table. He should have listened to her. Who knows? Had Candy just had a moment to sit down with them and share her ideas, instead of storming out angry, I can’t help but to think that small exchange, on a larger scale could’ve helped her doge her untimely death.

This show makes everything thing look so polished and clean. I don't remember the era being this. NYC under mayor Koch and Dinkins was rough dirty poor and dangerous...we went mopping not shopping. And House of Pendavis and Labeija had fabulous lipsync stars who did Diana Ross, Sylvester Labelle and Dreamgirls...as someone who lived in this era and part of the ball culture its just weird to watch.
Candys character was treated with so much colorism from the first words of the first episode - this is why it’s hard for me to like pose. This was clearly written by a colorist black man

I really didn’t appreciate candy in the first season enough, she’s beautiful and funny and strong and just such a vital story arc on this show, I was so excited for the second season, I was on UA-cam and scrolled passed a clip of her funeral scene, and I was so mad someone spoiled that for me and mad cuz I wasn’t even thinking of anyone dying on the show, I didn’t watch it for a while cuz I wanted to watch the show and not spoil anything, but I got inpatient and watched and it wasn’t until I watched the second season, paying more attention to candy and cherishing her a lot more that when I saw the scene again I was a mess, just crying like I knew candy personally, this scene when I watched it the first time changed my whole mood the rest of the episode, cuz I knew right when candy got in pray tells face that this was her last episode, this would be the last time we see “Ms. Caaaannnndy” ( alive ) but yea I definitely cherish her character more than I did before and the actress deserves all the praise in the world 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Candy...the funniest character on the damn show...even funnier than Pray (and thats saying something). But Candy had a comedic timing that you cant teach. And there were MANY times when I would think "why dont this bitch have her own goddamn show, somewhere?". You couldn't take your eyes off her.

I used to live in an area of Liverpool where I as a "white" bloke was the ethnic minority. That was not a problem as everyone took each other as we found each other. For my friends I had to point out that despite the fact they would know if I used the n-word, one I would never use, on Granby I would likely be a stain on the pavement before they had a chance to react, given I was white, had long hair, not popular on the scene, wore bikers leathers and so while I understood what they meant I had to educate on what it is like from my view point, not side as that implies conflict that didn't actually exist for those who lived in the area.
One thing sticks n my head from then, it was when I walked home from town, which back then was the norm safety wise, and I was stopped or a chat by a bloke at the start of Prinny. He asked me if I was gay, normally I would just say yes. However this was at 3am and there was only the two of us, so I asked him "How is that relevant?" given how long we had chatted friendly. I said to him when he tried to challenge me to answer his question, though I felt no threat, that I will answer it only if he answered mine. He didn't sadly as he was a good looking bloke nd I had no problem going with bis regardless of the bigoted scene attitude at the time.
