1:40 when you start going down heading to the General boss fight. You hear that playing. It sends a good chill down your spine as you know there something super bad up a head.
Yogg was an amazing boss, and I think that he should be adopted as an 85 raid boss along with other old gods. "I am the lucid dream, the monster in your nightmares" omfg, best lines ever, and the voice acting was amazing
What made Ulduar (and kara) so great is the simple fact that they had a bit of EVERYTHING you could possibly hope for in a raid. And i'm not just talking mechanics, the litterally had EVERYTHING from ambiances to lore to new gameplay to great characters to interesting loot & armor models... Anything you can think of, it was in there those 2 times.
Don't forget the art. Ulduar had the creepy baby mermaid paintings and that tentacle thing with a human head. Made the decent into madness more insane especially since the ceiling paintings earlier in the raid looked normal.
Honestly, in my opinion without Ulduar wrath would have been a flop on Blizzard's part. Ulduar is by FAR the best raid in Wrath, and I truly believe that it is what kept people interested in WoW. I hope they take a lesson from it for cataclysm.
I focus on class design pretty closely---probably to the point of ignoring most other aspects of the game more than I should. But Ulduar forced Blizzard to do something they didn't normally do with class design: they changed their minds about their design goals to make a better play experience. Specifically, for Retribution paladins, they were going from a raid that had lots of undead (Naxxramas) to a raid with no undead (Ulduar), and Exorcism was, at the start of WotLK, a spell that only damaged undead and demons. In order to keep the DPS experience the same for Retribution players, they actually changed Exorcism so it could be cast on any kind of enemy. That felt like a HUGE buff at the time!
Also the fact that going from an area to the next in those 2 raids felt like they had mini-raids inside, ulduar had its lava/snow/garden wings, the battlefield at the entrance, the arena area and of course yogg's inner chambers, kara had its theatre, chessboard, stairways, balconies, libraries, ect Raids inside raids made it so the players never got bored week after week. Such is not the case with say icecrown, BT or anything cataclysm has offered so far.
Alot of players see Wotlk as a failed expansion but when i think back of Ulduar i get this nice feeling.. i miss ulduar, one of the best raids i have ever done, thanks blizz for your many years of enteraintment!
THE FIEND OF A THOUSAND FACES This is the opposite of the Hero described by Joseph Campbell in "The Hero with a Thousands Faces" which Lucas based his Star Wars. Campbell, in turn, based his work on Carl Gustav Jung's research on myth, fairy tales, alchemy and dreams. Basically, in this case, every Hero hides an opposite and is opposed by it. The fight of opposites for supremacy.
The time to strike at the head of the beast will soon be upon us. Focus your anger and hatred on his minions. Yes yes! Show them no mercy, give no pause to your attacks!
The only that truly scares me about the music in that section of Ulduar is to just think of the possibility of it almost being real and that someone is slowly going mad due to the influence of an Old God like Yogg'Saron.
1:47 and this also plays when Tirion puts Lick King's helm on Bolvar's head. Yogg Saron was supposed to be the man behind Lich King, the true God of Death, not some discount nipple Thanos.
There's still plenty of harder challenges left in the game for people that want to do it. Blizzard is very good at trying to cater for both the more casual player (I work seasonal so while I love raiding I don't always have the time to farm omg wtf mats for fucking months for some new bracers on my healer for 2 more mp5) and making sure their long standing and loyal fanbase who've been with them for years and provided feedback have things like hardmode ICC to do.
Old Gods are big thread to Azeroth's life. With Legion expanison we have a glipse of how powerfull Void Gods are. That's why it makes this soundtrack even more badass :D
@poopball44 Blizzard got 1 thing right, the music... i dunno how long they spent recording all of the audio in the game but god dam they did it right first time round
@borek92 Indeed. I loved the Firelands music, I ripped it out of the game files even the track that plays in the patch 4.2 trailer. And yes, they are throwing that Twilight's Hammer theme everywhere from......pretty much anywhere the Twilight's Hammer has set up a large base or semi-large. Cataclysm was a disaster but fortunately the music was not.
@Belmontyvarden Well you're commenting that on a music video. The music is unrelated to the origin, name or appearance of the creature. If you thought up a creature and I used it with a slightly different name and composed a track for it. The track would be all mine and nothing of you.
@BeastStudio aye...MC.... good memories ;) TOO SOON! YOU HAVE AWAKENED ME TOO SOON, EXECUTUS! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS INTRUSION? ahh the good old days
@DargorV BT was damn epic though, and Icecrown Citadel was fine too, lacked epicness though, only Lich King was worth it. I personally like Cataclysm's raids, but the fact that there ain't any big raids have really hurt the expansion, especially with the release of Dragon Fail.
Brilliant game. Oh, to you guys who complain about getting gear... I slaved over many random heroics to get good enough gear to go with you. I spent HOURS getting those emblems... we get gear easily because of YOU. YOU stop people coming because they don't have full epix. Don't complain about getting your epix so easily, if you won't accept anyone with out a full item list of them.
@ DudeNumberX you see in vanilla WoW, it sometimes took weeks, even months to farm stuff so...yeah you're Q_Qing about farming emblems for multible hours GG.You're so pro.
Its to damn bad few people actually got to him, back in lich king days ulduar was the shit if your group knew how to do. Especially bosses like mimiron on hardmode and yogg.
@DudeNumberX its not the time you put it. its the fact that it require no skill WHATSOEVER to do so. time consuming, yes, cept for the tanks. takes skill to get them, not at all
@Hokexobe WotLK was good but idk. Naxx and Ulduar was amazing. ToC was boring and ICC was awesome but it lasted way too long. Bc-Ulduar days were the best imo.
Its a double edged sword, unfortunately. Makes it easier for newbies and easier to start alts if you get bored with your main. I think a good solution would be to make lower-tier Emblems BoA, then make them a little more challenging to get. Thus newbies have to work to get their first character up to scratch (teaching them the skills they need in the process) and allowing current players to farm emblems for their alts. Of course, there'd still be some issues. Always will be.
1:03 Bow down before the god of death!

1:40 when you start going down heading to the General boss fight. You hear that playing. It sends a good chill down your spine as you know there something super bad up a head.
"MADNESS WILL CONSUME YOU!"
Indeed...it will
Bow down before the God of Death...
Good idea
Welcome to my domain, brother
Hi there.
Hmm, we
Now we need N'Zoth and we'll gonna make a family reunion :)
But of course he will not move his lazy tentacles there :/
Ah, damn N'zoth. Never there when you need him.
Ulduar is unquestionly the best raid ever done: great music, great history, great epic bosses, and in the best zone of northrend - storm peaks
Yogg was an amazing boss, and I think that he should be adopted as an 85 raid boss along with other old gods. "I am the lucid dream, the monster in your nightmares" omfg, best lines ever, and the voice acting was amazing

Alot of players see Wotlk as a failed expansion but when i think back of Ulduar i get this nice feeling.. i miss ulduar, one of the best raids i have ever done, thanks blizz for your many years of enteraintment!
You hear "I am the lucid dream" Oh, here we go.. I miss that fight :p
"Prisoner? Ha! With its bindings shattered, its influence unchecked, it's gonna come after us...and WE'RE gonna be the prisoners."
THE FIEND OF A THOUSAND FACES

Your will is no longer your own.
Praise Yogg
MADNESS WILL CONSUME YOU
Ulduar was the best raid instance in wow I remember being server second to get yogg on 25 down
It's not like you see everyone standing around in Dalaran with the Starcaller title, is it?
The time to strike at the head of the beast will soon be upon us. Focus your anger and hatred on his minions. Yes yes! Show them no mercy, give no pause to your attacks!
@Belmontyvarden he seriously does, c'thun and yogg were based on cthulhu and yogg-sothoth of the lovecraftian mythos.
The only that truly scares me about the music in that section of Ulduar is to just think of the possibility of it almost being real and that someone is slowly going mad due to the influence of an Old God like Yogg'Saron.

this music creeps me out!
1:47 and this also plays when Tirion puts Lick King's helm on Bolvar's head. Yogg Saron was supposed to be the man behind Lich King, the true God of Death, not some discount nipple Thanos.

You really do need to upload Yogg Phase 3, WoWMusicGuru :DDDD
its just EPIC great music
I agree

@chewbakadude123 Indeed, the 'right' music for the 'right' circumstance can make it feel so much better :)
Only Death is eternal..
your will is no longer your own. all shall now agree that Ulduar is one for the hisrorybooks, together with AQ Naxx40 kara, BT and SWP.
the music from the trailer "its gonna come after us and where gonna be the prisoners" hehe
aah best music was like 5:48 - 6:00
it fitted perfectly into the dark atmosphere, standing there before Vezax (and afterwards Yogg)
wow good cool great nice
I love the Lich King encounter, but I HATE the fact that there were FOUR world firsts on him...
BALLS
where can i find the phase 3 music for yogg saron?
Old Gods are big thread to Azeroth's life. With Legion expanison we have a glipse of how powerfull Void Gods are. That's why it makes this soundtrack even more badass :D
@Belmontyvarden u are right yogg and c'thun were based on the lovecraftian mythos
Whats your whole list?
5:55-5:56 YOUR THE PRISON BEHIND YOUR OWN BODY.
So when will Cthulu join the party?
I am...the lucid dream.
@poopball44 Blizzard got 1 thing right, the music... i dunno how long they spent recording all of the audio in the game but god dam they did it right first time round
Holy shit, that book didn't give me nightmares but Tim Curry's acting in the movie scared me shitless :O
do you have the Yogg music when he's in phase 3? Thats the best part!
I... AM... A SOCCERBALL!!!
@borek92

@nikolai090 Arthas is just called that by the vrykul, yogg saron is actually a god of death/madness
3.1 BEST EVER!
@Belmontyvarden AGREED. Thank you,
@Belmontyvarden Why? Because his creature resembels Yogg-Sarron in name and appearacne, sure. This music however has nothing to do with him.
YOUR WILL IS NOT YOUR OWN
Creepy...,
@ DudeNumberX you see in vanilla WoW, it sometimes took weeks, even months to farm stuff so...yeah you're Q_Qing about farming emblems for multible hours GG.You're so pro.
indeed
@Belmontyvarden All of the Old Gods are Lovecraft inspirations.
I'm sorry, but, how is making it easier to get gear so that we can enjoy content a bad thing?
Its to damn bad few people actually got to him, back in lich king days ulduar was the shit if your group knew how to do. Especially bosses like mimiron on hardmode and yogg.
Seems Dumb and Dumber was here and missed the like-button...
Dosent some good music in a game make the whole experience better? or is it just me :)

@borek92 Agreed, and now the Firelands music from the trailer is used everywhere as well, Wotlk had a better soundtrack from it looks like.
I hate this raid but holy damn music.
@DudeNumberX its not the time you put it. its the fact that it require no skill WHATSOEVER to do so. time consuming, yes, cept for the tanks. takes skill to get them, not at all
3 people apparantle never made it to Yogg Saron.... i mean cmon... what is there not to like about this????
@Hokexobe WotLK was good but idk. Naxx and Ulduar was amazing. ToC was boring and ICC was awesome but it lasted way too long. Bc-Ulduar days were the best imo.
So Blizzard can almost make a soundtrack for every room in Ulduar, yet they reuse a soundtrack for BWD and BoT?
Its a double edged sword, unfortunately. Makes it easier for newbies and easier to start alts if you get bored with your main.
I think a good solution would be to make lower-tier Emblems BoA, then make them a little more challenging to get. Thus newbies have to work to get their first character up to scratch (teaching them the skills they need in the process) and allowing current players to farm emblems for their alts.
Of course, there'd still be some issues. Always will be.
@chewbakadude123 Yes i think so too..without nice music ,the game wouldnt be so good
