Beetleborg is my new favorite word!!!
Beetleborg is Japanese tokusatsu series reference ?
Lol
i have never considered Batman a superhero he is a hero
@@packedentertainment2866most are wrong im not being 1 of them
big bad beetlborgs? great show actually. Also it seems yall have forgotten justice friends and a certain native american super hero who could grow to the size of a building...
Everyone forgetting season 1 except Chris, lol
On brand Normies
Yeah, especially since they did so well remembering other things lol.
They're gonna have a rough time in Seasons 3 and 4
@@MrChefBoyardeeoh god you’re right. It’s gonna be bad 😂
@@MrChefBoyardeewe yelled at them to “take notes for the love of god take notes” it’s gonna get really bad soon too once the return seasons start
This shows version of Lex Luthor is my favorite. He is ruthless and a genius who uses everyone to achieve his own goals. This Lex is much scarier than the Lex in the Battle suit.
Fun Fact: the Runaways are homages to superheroes created for the old Super Friends cartoon series. The original characters were named Apache Chief, Samurai, and El Dorado. Virgil/Static is a stand-in for Black Vulcan/Black Lightning (there were some legal issues that meant the cartoon couldn’t use Black Lightning so Super Friends changed it to Black Vulcan). While they were meant to diversify the cast they’re mostly remembered as cringy stereotypes. But most Justice League related shows will try to adapt the characters in some way, such as The Ultimen from Justice League: Unlimited.
Don't forget the Wonder Twins lol.
Correct!! I was actually going to come by and say this.
The name, Runaways ,is also a fun nod at the Marvel comic of the same name. :)
Screw you apache chief was the shit
the legal problem was they didnt want to pay Black Lightning's creator
He wasn't talking about Young Justice and Tye, he was talking specifically about Apache Chief. The show was made in the 70s, you can imagine how culturally sensitive it wasn't. @@packedentertainment2866
Suraj & Micky are starting to realize what I've been posting since they started reacting to this. The show requires you to pay attention to everything. The way they talk & joke over dialogue will mean they will always be lost. And each season gets more complicated, but more entertaining.
Micky my man, Green Beetle NEVER said anything about knowing Manhunter
Aye
Lex Luther cares about the earth, he wouldn’t let it be destroyed….he does heinous stuff but when aliens show up and he thinks they’re bad news he’ll take action, you see how he treats Superman.
Exactly. Seems some forget villains even have limits. Like the Rogues at times would team up with Flash if Central City is in danger. Or like how Ra's Al Ghul would help the Dark Knight for mutual gains involving Gotham.
Lex is DC's Tony Stark. He wants to protect Earth, but he wants to get all the worship for it.
@@TheBoondocksaint117Nah Lex is more like DCs Doctor Doom
Lex may be a bad guy, but he still lives here
@@chrislang-earth2303it’s because earth is his playground and his home. If the earth is lost then he literally has nothing even if he survives.
It was called the Dakota verse because the characters were from Dakota City. When DC bought Milestone, Dakota City was integrated into the DC Universe and became another city like Gotham and Metropolis
Chris is the only one who remembers anything 😂
Technically there was already a ton of characters since the beginning. The show focused on the young heroes who were side-kicks to heroes so there was already twice as many characters.
True, however I consider moving the focus to an ever increasing collection of characters really dilutes the storytelling potential in any superhero story. In Young Justice, it's the difference between the first season (more reminiscent of the older 2000's Teen Titans) and the second season (more reminiscent of the Justice League Unlimited cartoon).
Both shows can tell good stories, but the focus was very different. People tend to get way more attached to the characters and the overall story when they don't introduce a new cast member every other week.
@@DenverZennagreed. Not to mention the challenges of making the entire story tie in together. That’s why the expanding cast of characters was the downfall of this show in seasons 3 and 4
@packedentertainment2866 I already compared them. The theme of a teenage superhero team of friends going through trials and tests of their character to learn how to work together, explore their powers and their relationships with each other and save the day seems like a theme that fits either show.
That one show is more comedic and absurd in nature isn't really a point against the comparison.
5:04 Virgil is voiced by Bryton James, but Khary Payton, Kevin Michael Richardson and Phil LaMarr do a major handful of the black Young Justice characters and minor other character voice rolls (you can hear them all over this show) Besides that Zeno Robinson, Phil Morris, DB Woodside, Carl Lumbly, Keith David, Kevin Grevioux, Michael Leon Wooley and Tony Todd voice other characters
They kept calling him Jamie😭I can’t wait for when they see the movie😅
One would correct the other but then say the name wrong. I'm like what's happening? 😂
FYI: these kids are a reflection of the "SuperFriends" of the 70s except Virgi but his powers are like those of one of the 70s SuperFriends.
Great reaction guys :)
FYI to Marketa, I’m pretty sure both Tony and black widow had a statue that Hawkeye was looking at in the show
22:14 Also the heroes Icon and Rocket, who we officially met in Season 1, Episode 25 "Usual Suspects", are also from the Dakotaverse.
You'll also see, but not interact with, a character called Hardware in Season 3 who is also a Dakotaverse hero. And a little tidbit, Icon is a Superman archetype where as Hardware is a Batman/Iron-Man archetype.
And it was a large comic book event in 2009 where the Dakotaverse was merged with the main DC Comics universe, but it was always set in the fictional city of Dakota City.
Some trivia, when Young Justice the show came out it in 2010, there had just been the large comic book event I mentioned, and YJ's universe was designated as Earth-16 in the larger DC Comics Multiverse.
It may not be designated that anymore as between 2009 and 2023, there have been 4 or 5 other multiverse crisis level events.
And Holocaust appears in later seasons I wish the Blood Syndicate appeared
The Milestone comics (aka Dakotaverse) also contained Icon and Rocket. And in season 3, a few other Milestone characters appear.
I love how I’ve seen enough anime to understand Asami without subtitles
Edit: I’m terrible with names 😂
Can u translate then?
@@BlackGirlMarvelat around 8:05 she says “やばい。[やっくら]が来る.” The [やっくら] part I'm not so sure about cuz it doesn't sound like any word I know except possibly “まっくら.” But either way it translates to "This is bad. [Word I don't know] is coming." If it's the second word I mentioned tho, then she would be saying "Night/darkness is coming." But that doesn't feel quite right for the context for me
@@BlackGirlMarveland at 11:28 she says basically that she doesn't know what's happening or doesn't know what they said, but let's go together
@@BlackGirlMarvelat 14:54 she says "You're welcome. Well/in that case, wait a minute, excuse me."
@@BlackGirlMarvelat 18:47 Lex says "Kimi no chikara ni naritainda" which is kinda weird cuz it sounds like he's trying to say "we want you to become strong" or smth of the like, but it literally translates to "wants you to become your strength" (it doesn't specify who wants it, whether it's him or her based on the little snippet they showed in the video). But idk if he was trying to say "want to become strong" "tsukoku naritai" wouldve made more sense but I'm really not quite sure what they were specifically trying to convey there
Heck yeah Beetleborgs! I always used to think that Flabber (the ghost dude) was also played by the mascot from the Perfection commercials. Also, anyone remember VR Troopers?
That bald guy is the one impulse stopped. His friend in the future
Fun Fact: The Runaways team here are actually meant to mirror four DC heroes that were created in the late 70s for the Super Friends cartoon in order to increase the diversity of the roster. Unfortunately their character designs and depictions were very stereotypical.
Virgil / Static Shock was brought in to mirror Black Vulcan, who also had electrical powers.
Ty Longshadow is an updated version of Apache Chief, whose power was just to grow larger.
Eduardo Dorado is an updated version of El Dorado, who dressed like an Aztec and had ton of ill-defined powers that did include teleportation, holograms, and telepathy.
Asamai "Sam" Koizumi is based of Samurai, a male hero who had wind powers like Red Tornado. Sam's powers are chi-based, not wind, but are used and visually presented very similary to his.
"If Bezos came up to you and said he was being used, would you believe him?" Lmao
hell yeah big bad beetleborgs!! my childhood. such a great show. The opening song is a banger!
The Dakotaverse also included Icon and Rocket who you have seen. Icon (Augustus Freeman) is low key black Superman with extra energy blasts and no kryptonite. He crashed on Earth in 1810 (1839 in the comics) and was discovered by by a slave woman and his life pod hybridized him based on her DNA so he would blend in hence why he appears as a black human (he is Terminan which I assume normally look noticeable different) which is also based on the comics as they haven't confirmed that in YJ. He is also a really big dude at 6'8 and 290lbs and still has a pretty stocky/muscular build. By comparison he is 5" taller and 65lbs heavier than Superman and two inches taller although much lighter than Thor (Thor is like 640lbs). He isn't as big as All Might however who is 7'3 and like 560lbs. Anyway I am not a comic reader but I always liked Icon and his powers plus I tend to go for non mainstream options characters when possible. While he isn't super tall like Icon I have always thought a younger Idris Elba would have been a great cast for him if he were ever in live action and I even tested it with AI and he looked pretty dope imo.
In reality, Virgil, a.k.a. static, is one of the more dangerous meta humans in my opinion, simply, because if he were brainwashed, his power could be used to essentially blackout an entire coastal area or major city for terrorism or other nefarious needs. Or he could be blackmailed into doing those because someone he cares about is being held.
Fun Fact: The Runaways are this universe's version of the "Super Friends".
Eduardo Dorado Jr. as "El Dorado", a Mexican superhero who is of Aztec descent.
Virgil Hawkins as "Static", who is currently substituting Black Vulcan. Another Black superhero with electromagnetic powers.
Tye Longshadow, currently known as "Longshadow" but used to be called "Apache Chief" before his name was changed for obvious reasons.
Asami Koizumi as "Samurai". Samuari is usually depicted as a male by the name of Toshio Eto. But the writers changed the character's gender for the show.
Sadly, there are no "Wonder Twins" in this version.
I love it when they meet a new character they know nothing about.😂😂😂😂. As a DC fam it’s fun listening to them try and figure them out.😊
Dakota City was also where Virgil was from in the Static Shock cartoon
At least 1 remembered
Becoming a Super Hero to me is achieved by deeds rather than powers.
All the kids are heroes from the old super friends tv series tai longshadow is Apache Chief. Ed is El Dorado. Kasumi is fusion of Samurai and Rima
How does no one understand just how OP statics powers are. I mean come on bro he controls all forms of electricity. He can see you just by feeling the bioelectricity flowing through you. One can also assume that, with enough training, static could become a walking natural disaster. He can literally become a walking EMP. Stop sleeping on my boy static 🤣
His name is Static. Not Static Shock. Static Shock was just the name of his show.
"Meat bags" will always make me think of HK-47 from Knights of the Old Republic.
The spoiler man johnson himself chris johnson himself is crazzzyyyyy😭
Kevin Michael Richardson, Khary Payton, and Phil Lamarr.
Keith David. All these names came into my head and I was like wtf
@@Sully2001 I think you mean Keith David...but yes him too
@@daverowe03 yeah, typo lol
Since the 90s or so, Lex has largely been portrayed as a humanist. It's sometimes implied that, if not for Superman, Lex would be Earth's greatest champion. As deceptive, manipulative, and often downright evil as he can be, when it comes to matters of protecting Earth and saving humanity, Lex can be surprisingly trustworthy. Not that he's ever fully trustworthy.
"NO HEAD?" than slings the arm lmao that was a perfect cut
3:04 I feel you Marketa but you have to look at the context. How many people know the exact way she died. How many normal people know the details ? Canon wise they say people were flying drones over the big battle for the gauntlet . So people possibly saw the Tony sacrifice. At least that's my explanation lol
Chris is going to be so happy when he realises there's already a character called Spoiler who appears in this show lol.
The runaways are mostly based off characters from the old Super Friends cartoon: Apache Chief, El Dorado and Samurai. There was also Black Vulcan who is sort of a version of Black Lightning who has some similar powers to Static. Some of them were also in the Justice League cartoon as the Ultimen: Longshadow, Wind Dragon and Surge.
The Dakota-Verse is named for Dakota City, Dakota City itself isn't the Easter egg. Also Icon and Rocket are also Dakota-Verse characters
AYYYYEEEEE. A bettleborg reference! Also coincidentally I just bought a Destiny 2 armor just because it reminded me of Beetleborg.
Sumimasen is literally, “I’m sorry” and is used for polite apologies like we would say, “excuse me”.
The native American kid was originally in justice friends, Apache Chief had the power to turn into a giant
Hey I made it into a Normies reaction
Static was from Milestone Comics as well as Icon and Rocket
Black Widow "only" sacrificed her life, and also did it alone with the one other secret agent of the team, her other contributions were also very secret and personal. On the other hand, Ironman won by sacrificing himself. Not to mention that it was not the only thing he did. He constantly worked outside of the "fighting the evil guy of the week", providing energy and security to the world, improving the weapons and technology of the rest of the team. Many of the key moments of the story were heavily influenced by his involvement and cooperation (the good and the bad).
Beetleborgs was dope. It was right there with VR Troopers and Super Human Samurai
Tye Longshadow is the hero Apache Chief. Who was a prominent character in the Super Friends. His power is to grow big but they modernized his powers for the show.
You think there's too many characters in this show? There's more to come. Honestly, its way harder to keep up with names of characters in anime. For instance, Bleach
It makes no sense for anyone to complain about that if they watch and react to anything anime like attack on Titan or Dragonball.
BIiiiiig Baaaaad Beeeeetleborgs
Fucking classic
Honestly, whenever I watch this episode I remember a static ep where he meets run jump and riche becomes shove and their powers are similar to the runaways
This show is more of a DC Universe show than focused on a select few. It’s young justice, but focused on the multiple generations of heroes inspired by the Justice Society during world war 2 and the justice league. You get to watch the original members grow and in some cases take over for their mentors who either retire or die. You are gonna get more bat family members. Honestly this show is the closest thing I’ve seen to the comic books. There is so much history to cover. Keep in mind DC has been telling connected stories since the 1930’s. I think we ever get a season 5, Bruce will have died and Dick will be Batman with Damien as Robin.
I need a Beetleborgs reaction now
on Superfriends he made himself grow large.
Great reaction!
You often meet your destiny on the path you take to avoid it.
19:10 Jay-me !!???!!? They literally made fun of people who do this in the Blue Beetle movie lol
The runaway kids are all references of The Superfriends tv show
Tye is Apache Chief/Longshadow who can grow to giant size
Asami is Samurai, be cause Japanese
Eduardo is El Dorado
Static is taking the place of Black Vulcan
Tye Longshadow is Apache Chief
Kevin Michael Richardson is to black male cartoon characters what Cree Summer was to black cartoon girls in the 90's.
Black Scarab said the scarab was rebooted to control Jaime. Something similar probably happened with Green. His Scarab is likely controlling him. Martians can be assholes, but with the exception of Ma'alefa'ak, they're rarely villainous.
Also, fun tidbit: The Beetleborg costumes were later used as villains in a Power Rangers season.
Well, his name is Static, not Static Shock, and while the city was Dakota the comic line was Milestone, but otherwise completely accurate.
These guys should really check out Super Friends...
If Red Tornado's a sapient being then Red Volcano can be as well, and when some one tries to kill him you can't just say "he's a robot".
Remember Lex said they need their own junior team,,,,
Throwback to beetle borgs!!
That kid is related to Madara Uchiha
"Apache Chief! EE NAY CHUCK!"
apache chief display from the old super friends vs the new young justice idk if i liked it like its cool cause its sleep activated n its a self preservation thing
Hopes up for more static 😂
Icon and Rocket and Static Shock are from the Dakota production company a all black company. Bought by DC they produced justice league and Ben 10 some great animated tv
Amazo is a strong andriod robot that upserve everyones power and uses it. He has the potential to be as strong as superman
Seeing Blue Beetle in the theater opening weekend was hype
Beetleborgs was my jam as yungin
You guys should definitely react to Blue beetle. It’s not some ground breaking super hero movie but what I enjoyed was that it reminded me of the old super hero movies before everything got all complicated. It’s a good watch tho
Vergil: Motivated?
I thought they did very well in remembering characters and previous events that happened in earlier episodes, but right now they missed some mark
Guys PLEASE watch Justice League and Justice League Unlimited!! You would love it!!
See this is why a Flash always messes up the timeline. By Kid Flash telling Jaime about what happens to him, Jamie makes it happen due to his own fears. The history books only give the highlights and not what folks were really feeling & going thru.
Yall please say Blue Beetle's name correctly. It's a point in the film where they call him Jamie (Jay-Me) and thats not how u pronounce it.
you were right being sus at green
Y'all should watch the DCEAU movies, y'all would love them
Icon and Rocket are also feom the Dakotaverse
Big Bad Beetleborgs!!!!!
Black Widow’s sister was snapped so she wasn’t around.!
Speaking of Runaways…😏
You guys are so screwed when you watch season 3 😂 You already don’t remember season 1
Spike spiegel???🤔😂
Just take notes for the love of God
why does navi have a notebook? like blindwave has them but they actually refer to their notes when they can’t remember a character or something? like how do u forget red tornadoes sibling (n please dont say they watch a ton of stuff as a excuse cause tons of reactors do that too n have no problem remembering)
Exactly I'm convinced thiers nothing but brain dead theories they come up with solo 😂😂
Black Widow is a superhero because she has a lesser Russian version of the super soldier serum, at least in the comics.
You guys gave to stop proving your shit talkers right. How did you forget Red Volcano?
Biggest complaint is that the characters past season one don’t get developed or have personalities
Having been a big defender of the time skip and seasons 3 and 4…I hard agree on that. If you're not integral to the season's main conflict like Blue and Impulse you get scraps like Tim and Cassie (founding members of the comic version of the team).
The sag aftra is over wtf
It would have been amazing if rana was here aswell.
24:38 “Speedy is Asexual”
I would not trust Bezos either 😂😂😂
I’m loving how they love Static, I was the same way
new ep?
Teen Justice lol😂
Which is a gender swap Teen Titans in the comics
Yo hoo
My one gripe with this episode is how HORRENDOUS the Japanese pronunciation is. The average anime subbed watcher could do better while not being fluent 😢
Them not remembering Amazo and Red Volcano is funny, but also understandable since so many season one villains were one offs 😂
