Fun Fact: Tom kenny (Ice King's va) used to babysit Olivia Olson (Marceline's va) when she was a kid. So in a way, this story fully circled back to the actors. "Simon and Marcy" is so cute and so tragic at the same time. And old man trying to help this child survive the apocalypse while slowly losing his mind and self-control. The part where he calls her Gunter is still just so heartbreaking.
And Marceline’s dad is voiced by Olivia Olson’s dad. Literally perfect.
Old man? He's 47
@@Serryy it might seem crazy what im bout to say
I DIDNT KNOW THIS OH MY GOODDDD AAAA😭😭😭😭
@@Serryyyeahhh hes 61, but i dont agree with the other person either thats not very old either, maybe in just a couple years
fun fact, “simon and marcy” was the last episode that rebecca sugar wrote for this show before working on steven universe full-time
Tom Kenny is so good in this episode. The transition between Simon and Ice King is so obvious, you forget he's playing both characters. What an absolutely heartbreaking performance.
Although I feel Adventure Time misses the mark with some of its story lines and characters, especially near the end, its treatment of Simon/Ice King is consistently excellent throughout.
Remember when they met Prismo and he explained how there are a bunch of dimensions floating around?
He explained how some doorways are artificially made like how The Lich, Finn & Jake got there with the Enchiridion and Royal Jewels... Other doorways happen naturally if only for a short time while the dimensions cross each other. A temporary doorway can exist in that timeframe. So it wasn't necessarily anything like a magic pillow fort or the way it was built (like the Nightosphere doorway being a circle face and milk).
So... Was it real? Idk.... Was it? Personally, I think so. Weirder things have happened in the show. Psychic Tandum War Elephant for example.
Golb being there at the end makes me think it’s more likely to be real rather than a dream.
@@eddiecactus1085spoilers kinda
Running theory is that golb devoured pillow world right as Finn had that phone call and that’s why he completely forgot about his other life
I often think that the presence of Golb when Finn is returning home implies that the Pillow universe got eradicated/eaten. Due to Golb's nature, this means it now never existed, causing Finn to forget his experience there in real time.
@@matijasostojic4288 pre sure that’s the first time we see him on screen I think he was alluded to before when jake went to mars
The pillow episode is actually kinda relatable to me, because as a kid I had a whole dream where I lived through my life. Got married, had kids, spent time with them, grew old, looked after my grandkids and then got woken up by the alarm. Had to sit there for a couple minutes to grasp the fact I was back to being like 13-15 and had to go to school.
Oh, I’ve had a dream like that once. Definitely felt some kind of way after i woke up.. ig this is where my fondness for fix-it and time travel fics come from now that i think about it 🤔 It’s quite the experience to have
35:34 Not all dreams in Adventure time is real but this one was. Since (redacted) shows up in it.
I totally forgot [REDACTED] was in that one and I was so confused. I was so startled
I forgot a lot about this series, so are we saying [REDACTED] because that's it's name or because they still don't know it's name is [REDACTED]??

"Simon & Marcy" and "Puhoy" are some of the best episodes in the entire series! Some of the strongest heartwarming and heartbreaking stories that Adventure Time pulls off.
From both a writing and lore expanding perspective, they both work even better when you rewatch them after finishing season 10!
Fr, Heartbreaking backstory and batshit insane episodes.
After re-watching "puhoy" I question how much was already planned out, because this foreshadows even "Fiona and Cake".
Hall of egress has to e my favorite
@@matthewtorma2087The Adventure time comics had a run with future fin back around season 1-3 in which he’s missing an arm. You get to see that future design in the first lich episode where fin has a daydream of him while meditating.
For the a glitch is a glitch episode that and a couple of other episodes they ACTUALLY got like fans of the show to animate those episodes or Fan animator's i forget but that's why the glitch episode looked like that so there's episodes where the animation is different cause of guest fan animators
I heard a theory that Finn forgets the pillow world so fast because that fat red baby he bumped into when he left ate the whole planet, destroying everything about its existence
That red baby's name is Golb.
I don't want to spoil the finale or anything, all I can say is that he serves as kind of the "anti-Glob" of sorts. A primordial deity of chaos and discord given physical form.
And one of his last remaining scholars (confirmed by the series), ... the Lich himself. 💀
@@claytonmoore9626 The reason I didn't namedrop Golb was because THEY don't know what it is yet.
@@shadowgolem8643 Oh, crap. Yeah, good point. 😳
Sorry, the CN nerd in me got excited and I couldn't help but drop a bit of trivia. 😔
17:07 possibly the first time Princess Bubblegum meets Simon
And Simon liked the soup so much he fell in love with pb.. maybe.
Mother gum
Perhaps…
@@LXW-Arts
Spoiler
Yes, it’s the mother gum, but considering how pb was only one that separated from the mother gum that’s not a giant baby. It’s not far fetched that the consciousness that becomes PB is the one controlling this action here.
That's not BP, that's her mother
Remember the names Jay and bonnie, you'll hear them again in the Fionna and Cake series episode 5.
I like how Finn and Jake start treating the ice king nicer, after they learn about his past as Simon.
Curious fact for the episode of the pillow kingdom, it is said that it was a dimension which was temporarily connected to Finn's that is why he was able to enter there (as explained in the enchiridion chapter), once Finn died [Redacted] (the giant baby of 4 eyes) who is an entity of chaos entered said dimension and completely destroyed it because it is not known why but it is said that Finn was the only thing that prevented [Redacted] from entering said dimension until his death, when Finn wall in said dimension and returned to his own, he returned without any memory of the life he led in that place, which was very sad because Finn had a family in that dimension, he forgot about them because [Redacted] had put an end to that reality, erasing it completely, even from the memories of Finn.
Puhoy is still an episode I think about to this day.
0:40 I don't think mermaids die if they beach themselves.
The Ice King episodes are just a straight arrow to the heart. They take some goofy gimmick character and turn him into one of the arguably deepest and most tragic characters in the show. It's like a weird parallel to seeing someone go through dementia or some other way of "losing" their mind. And you figure Marceline hangs with Ice King for all he did for her... Which must be a lot considering it's the Ice King... lol.
But, yeah. Just heavy.
The Finn pillow episode providing some nice foreshadowing even though it's one of the most controversial episodes 😂
controversial? It's a really highly praised episode with a deep meaning. probably one of the best episodes of the entire show
@@williamzinedineh they don't mean bad its awesome, the reason its still controversial is because people have been arguing for years whether the events in pillow world ACTUALLY happened or not.
@@williamzinedineh controversial isn't always what that means the comment below you explains exactly why it was deemes controversial, because nobody can agree on what happened or not
23:46 I'm probably one of the few people who knows that the room Jake is in is reused from the directors earlier work where a girl kills herself and man comes in and showers over her dying body
…whaaaat? Can I receive any more information on that?
That sounds very deep and disturbing.
around the 12:30 minute mark of David O Rlieys short film THE EXTERNAL WORLD. It's continues bit from earlier in the film, it's possibly a satire joke about antidepressants@@pierceschuyler1517
What a weird brag…
I mean it kinda is true if the multiverse is real which is entirely possible imo, but if there’s a multiverse that means it’s endless with endless universes and endless outcomes every time we dream it’d be like looking directly into another reality we just aren’t aware of it
Its always so interesting watching your guys' videos, especially since I get to see stuff that was censored when I watched on TV
because I DO NOT remember seeing xergiok do that suckle suckle thing EVER, nice to see things I've missed
The really weird episode is a guest episode where they invited other creators to make some non Canon episodes, so the scene where pb was making out with her own hand.......fan service in the most wild yet still appropriately pg13 way
Remember the "The lich" episode with the enchiridion booko said dimensions can become temporarily linked through items of great power like said enchiridion or a specific means like a really impressive pillow fort that temporarily leads to pillow world that has information on said vanishing door to this world that fin came through
Not all dreams are real. Thats why the Cosmic Owl appearing is so important, its what tells you whatever your dreaming is, will happen. That's the Cosmic Owl job
The pillow world existed, and the monster Finn encounters after dying is very important
Ice King: So how did it end?
Marcy: Well, DO YOU WANT UNCUT AND EARLY REACTIONS TO YOU FAVORITE...
Great reaction! Two of my favorite episodes!
I love Finns pillow kids he named them after his brother and princess Bubblegum
Finn basically fluffed his pillow. Let that sink in
I think the glitch was the start of Adventure Time partnering with other animators which I really loved and wish other shows would do.
That pillow episode was.....chaotic
I wanna talk about the golb appearance so bad but I'll hold my tongue lol
13:13 she’s not a vampire yet she’s just half demon
35:40 Dr Strange and the multiverse of madness makes a reference to that.
how long were they planning the last scholars of glob thing
Cheers is my favorite 80's sitcom & the fact that one of my top 10 cartoon shows referenced it makes it funnier I would love for you guys to react to cheers.
34:26 Oh...
hehehe.. yeah
I love people's reaction to the Pillow World episode
- Xergiok claim to have his eyes taken by a wizard is shown in the title & the birds that he befriended named them after tastes & spices
- The Braille message says "Dear Xergiok, Thank you for your donation, the kidneys fit great"
- Young Marceline is voiced by Ava Acres who also voices Jamaica & others (Adventure Time), Erik (Happy Feet 2), Amy (Clarence), Zan (Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness), Timothy (The Angry Birds Movie), & many more
- “Simon & Marcy” is a fantastic episode in fact this episode was nominated for the 2013 Emmy Award for Outstanding Short-Animated Program
- In the flashback Simon is 47 & Marceline is 7 which makes their current ages are now the Ice King being 1043 & Marcy is 1003
- Originally Marcy was going to get terrible sick to the point of nearly dying but this was changed because CN was concerned that that would have been too dark
- The gum according to the supervising director Adam Muto says that it was inspired by the Fungus King from the 1993 Mario Bros movie especially like how the gum gave Simon the can of soup similarly when the fungus gave Mario & Luigi the Bob-omb
- The “ON THIS DAY 996 YEARS AGO" & "996 YEARS LATER" are very similar to the ones used in the films 28 Days Later & 28 Weeks Later
- Jake says "Watchu talkin' 'bout Marcy" which is a parody of Gary Coleman’s catchphrase "Watchu talkin' 'bout Willis" from sitcom Diff'rent Strokes (which he hated that his whole career was reduced to this one line) which speaking of sitcoms Simon was singing the Cheers theme song which just makes me want a version of Tom Kenny singing it
- Notice that in the red car there is a CD with the Cure “Boys Don’t Cry” photo on it which is the same one that was in the “Marceline’s Closet” episode
- Simon’s reaction to the clam soup is similarly to Woody Harrelson (who was on Cheers) character Tallahasseefrom Zombieland when he found Sno-Balls rather that Twinkies
- “A Glitch is a Glitch” is 1 of 4 episodes with different animation styles & that is not canon with this one being done by David OReilly an Irish artist, film maker, & game developer like he did the guide sequences in “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”
- Finn as an adult is voiced by Jonathan Frakes best known for playing as Riker (Star Trek Franchise), J’Son (Guardians of the Galaxy series), Xanatos, Coyote, Dave, & Alexander (Gargoyles), Larry (3rd Rock from the Sun), & many more along with Roselinen (her name is a pun on the name Roslyn with linen) is voiced by Mandy Siegfried best known form playing Molly (Grey’s Anatomy), Mandy (Law & Order), & others while her father is Quilton (pun on quilt) is voiced by Dee Bradly Baker (which notice that he only has 1 eye open at a time) & Rasheeta is voiced by Wallace Shawn which he was also uncredited as the distorted Jake
- This episode is based on the Chinese story “The World Inside a Pillow” by Shen Jiji & the Star Tren the Next Generation episode “The Inner Light” while the entrance way is similar to “The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe”, “Alice in Wonderland”, or “Coraline“
Episode 14 is like last of us and Every episode and season always pays homage to the previous ones
When I first saw Bubblegum start "going to town" on her hand, I was thinking she was trying to slowly eat herself, for some reason
Man the for shadow is insane!!!!
3:05 was my 13th reason because just why😭🤣😭😭😭😭
to explain to you all, the reason for all the different art styles is not for promotion or anything, its bscause the creators of the show had extra budget so they decided to use all types of animation for the show, so mainly to be creative and more entertaining, not to promote anything.
Marcy is a demon-human, it's why she has pointy ears
The whole pillow world in the Puhoy episode has never been explained btw, it's been a decade (this episode came out in 2013) with no explanation, but Pillow World does seem to follow similar rules to Narnia, specifically that time moves faster then in the real world and it's never stated if it's a alternate universe, an odd dream, or even real to begin with but since we saw GOLB (the big red guy) who's a known cosmic entity that plays a bigger part near the end of the series it's safe to say it might have been a alternate universe (which gets explored more in the Fionna and Cake series).
Also the little BMO that hit BMO is called CMO
Well i can control my dreams. I learned how to do it when I was a kid.
Normally, cartoons aired 2 episodes in 1 run. So if the opening isn't the same it's because both episodes share the same opening.
19:38 that wasn't a fourth wall break
Who would win in a fight marceline or jake they both can grow in size but i think marceline has a slight advantage 😮
Man I forgot we saw "you know who this early" (big red baby)
Puhoy is top 5 episodes for me.
17:17 oh my heart 😭😭💔💔❤️🩹 im tear eyed fr kfkfjgjgn
When you finish adventure time will you continue with fionna and cake or will it be on a poll.
we will do fionna and cake for sure!
36:00 i mean people have definitely had coma dreams like this where they essentially lived an entire life and had children and felt that everything was real and when they have woken up they've had real grief over their lost family in this other reality. the mind is a fucking insane place
26:42 Someone explain to me about PB and Jake, because I didn't understand.
They keep saying a glitch is a glitch is a promotion for a video game when its a promotion for psychedelics.
8:50
The first appearance of G***
Simon & Marcy and Puhoy are some of my favourite episodes of the entire series, what a set!
Spider + Snake = Snider
Wait.....
Snider = Snyder
The pillow world was real for sure.
Gumball billy oh wrong series adventure time billy!!!!
Simon and Marcy’s story always makes me tear up their story is so tragic but she still takes care of him even though he has no memory of their past 😭
The "Puhoy" Episode really foreshadowed a lot of things.
Simon and Marcy’s early relationship is so damn good and heart wrenching at the same time. Tom Kenny, once again, a phenomenal job!
Why was the Simon and Marcy episode literally just The Last of Us? 😅
a super sick batch of episodes! So excited to see your reactions to these, amazing video as always y'all!
Season 5 gotta be the longest season in Adventure Time. Get ready for a ride.
8:53: YESSS! This episode! I was waiting for this!
Also, "A Glitch is a Glitch" has to be the worst and weirdest episode. XD
Puhoy is all canon, by the way.
A Glitch Is A Glitch is one of several episodes where they change the animation style up, I believe they have guest animators for that and there's going to be a bunch more of those eventually, all with new and different animation styles, most if not all of those also have a special intro that is also animated differently
Simon and Marcy is one of my fav episodes
I just realized Puhoy episode might be a reference to Ghibli films. Not to mention that one of the next episodes with BMO and Bubble might be referencing Spirited Away
Pillow world was real but no longer exists. The red thing appears at the end of a world’s lifetime to finish the job. The world entropys into nothing and ceases to exist. Probably why Finn doesn’t remember it. It’s what happened to Magic Man’s wife.
I've always thought the reason Finn immediately forgot about his Pillow World life (aside from the normal explanation of forgetting a dream as soon as you wake up) is because Golb destroyed that world as Finn was leaving.
Nah, he should be stuck there in the void for now.
Someone's probably mentioned it but A Glitch is a Glitch aired on April Fools, it's the same genre of episode as Say Uncle
Been sick for a few days, always nice to watch yall commentary and thoughts on my fav childhood shows. Makes me feel better❤
You guys remember when that hologram on the Enchiridion said that sometines two dimensions randomly connect for some period of time?
I think we saw this on thhr pillow episode, so I agree with Ruff, I think it was real
When you guys are done with the series, I highly suggest you watching one of the timeline videos, they are very long, but they explain a lot more details than the show really gives explicitly about the history of the nuclear war and how everything came to be
Little hints from past episodes, random like episodes when we have random episode adventures, it gets so much more sense as we progress and learn even more.
Simon & Marcy is sandwiched between weird episodes, man... its kinda funny.
Kid Marcy is in the sun, and has no vampire bite marks. She isn’t a vamp yet
Marceline is half demon. The reason why she was so old in the alternate timeline is because her demon nature keeps her alive but without eating souls like her dad her body will age. After she becomes a vampire she stays young by drinking red colors.
Half human half demon half vampire

“All those nights when you go no lights the check is in the Mail. And your little angel hung the car up by it’s tail. And your third fiance didn’t show…
The macalien and Simon episode was originally about finding real medison, so they thought the clambulance was a different kind of mix up and the hole thing was a bit more depressing than the already dark episode was finally, a lot of marcalien stuff was like that
Am I hearing things .. or was the ice king saying MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA
DID HE PULL A DIO?
"A Glitch is A Glitch" is a guest animator episode! Throughout the series there are several episodes made by guest animators that have a notably different animation style
I want h-man back:(
H-man is stepping away from content. He’ll be finishing our shows that we’ve started with him but he won’t be on anything new or what replaces these shows.
@@SortaStupidwill H-man stick around for Fionna and Cake? Cuz that show was greenlit for season 2, and that'll probably come out in 2 years.
I really love his input in these shows, even though they're very short.

A historia do Simon é uma mistura de amor, tristeza, miseria, terror e melancolia. Dito isso, ele é definitivamente complexo e bem construido ao longo dos anos.

You can never recreate the emotional bond that Simon and Marcy has. Honestly, maybe I'm bias towards Adventure Time but I don't know any show that has that same non-familial familial bond (maybe Steven Universe)
the gum is known as the mother gum and you never get to know much about it if im not wrong
- Haha! Funny, when I'm from - the pillows are mostly used for bedding!
- They're used here for that too~
The Pillow guy was iconic character actor Wallace Shawn.
21:10 when i was a kid i wasnt sure about her, but damn shes a legend xddddd
34:24
I forgot how excited I got with each lore episode until I started watching their reactions. It's so awesome to see people enjoy the show as much as I have.
Edit: Also for the pillow episode I believe he really had an entire different life in those moments simply because Glob was shown. Like the cosmic owl Glob is a god and is very significant plus like almost all other incarnations we've seen of Finn he loses an arm. As far as I remember though the pillow world isn't brought back up again so regardless if it was real or not it has no real impact on the main story.
It's Golb not Glob. Glob is magic man's brother.
Funfact: originally marci was going to be very sick but they had to make it lighter for some reasons, hence the clambulance
