Hey I met him in Maloney where we both live, he introduced me to double rhyme middle and end in one line, telling me a lot about simple lyrics and rhyming, he was one of my mentors,a great composer.
You might want to adjust the volume (sound) on this video- it's a little too loud... Lord Melody (1926-1988) who began singing with Lord Kitchener- Aldwyn Roberts (1922-2000). One of his earliest hits 🎯 was "Glory Mama Glory" (1949)- as portrayed by Birdie (Mighty Sparrow). Some of his compositions include "Mama Look A Boo Boo" (1955)- covered by Harry Belafonte- its on the LP "Belafonte Live At Carnegie" (1959)- when Harry Belafonte performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City. 🏙️ "Belmont Jackass" (1960) & "Cowboy Sparrow" (1960)- these were the days of his "friendly" rivalry with the Mighty Sparrow- Sparrow retaliated with "Madame Dracula" (1961), "Cowboy Melo" (1960), "Melody Lie" .... In 1962 I believe (uncle Alvin help me a little here- you input/commentary would be needed/appreciated...) Lord Melody was contracted to perform for Harry Belafonte in New York City 🌆 until about 1974. He came out with "Shame and Scandal" (1962)- which was covered by Various Artists. In 1965 he came out with Mas- check ✔️ ✅ out the pan version on UA-cam. If I remember some LPs of his from the 1970s' include "Mas Is Devil Power" (1972) & "Salt & Pepper" (1974). One of his last offerings was "Brown Sugar" (1982)- check the video out on UA-cam.... Mighty Sparrow was NOT 🚫 lying in his tribute to Melody from his 1989 album "All In The Game"- "Belafonte must give us an explanation, come out & say what happen to Melo's millions 💰 💵??? Harry is a multimillionaire 💵 💰 New Yorker, Melo was a POOR man and he died a PAUPER.... Tell Harry for me, Melo was calling his name all in the cemetery 🪦." You have conveniently left out one fact about Lord Melody: he was an old boy of the Belmont Orphanage (Known now as St Dominic's Children's Home.), probably where he learned music.

My dear friend, will never ever forget him I enjoyed his and Sparrow company for many years. Enjoying this show very very much
You knew my father?
Loved every moment of this documentary. One of TTOs greatest calypsonians
The Maestro in his element
The question is where have we calypsonians gone? To the higher plane of Kaiso Heaven. Who is going to replace them in Kaiso?, Well I doh no.
Great documentary indeed. Lord Melody was an iconic figure during the golden age of the calypso age.
Thanks for this Mr. Daniel. Amazing footage of a great Trini artiste... love the Melody!

Congratulations, Alvin. Wonderful program
Much appreciated. However, sounds like you've accidentally transferred both channels in mono so it's distorted and only in the right speaker.
Does anyone know the name of the interview where Lord Melody is speaking with the journalist Gil Noble?
