    Hey Kev didn't go all through your comments but I was thinking the aluminum driveshaft may have stripped out, I noticed there was a lot of slip back and forth and at any givin moment the shaft could be further on either the front or the back pinion gear splines, I added an o rig to take up some of the slop and it will flex and squish with chassis movement. Just an idea! An awesome video for sure!!! Great job

    Not sure if anyone has suggested this yet. But, us rock bouncers in the U.S. use solid aluminum rods in our roll cages that we "pound or beat in" we try to find the tightest fit we can. But, it keeps our roll cages from collapsing when we hit things. Maybe this could be a solution to your bend drive shaft. It might make it a little heavy and sluggish off the line but... It could save the drive shaft.

    also fun fact if you didn't know Kevin loctite it actually liquid plastic and when air hits it hardens if you ever have a stubborn screw you can heat it up before you strip it and it will melt the loctite and the screw comes out nice and easy 😉

    • @timothy9438
      @timothy9438 5 років тому

      @EX JW Not everybody has there paddles facing forwards. Not everybody uses paddles for sand. Its smart to have your tires like kevs if you want traction going forward and backwards. You want forward traction to move forwards and you want reverse traction to backup if you get stuck. But if you want to go just forwards sure you can put all digging forwards but you’ll get next to no traction going backwards.

    I realize this video is a couple of years old.
    Back in the Day probably before your time Kevin and before any one had heard of the name Traxxas there was another the original grand daddy of the monster trucks called the Clod Buster. For what it was and what it could do in it's day it was a pretty amazing little truck. one of the coolest feature it had was that with a simple adapter kit that converted the regular set of four tire all the way around to a duo set of over sized sand paddle tires all the way around going from a standard four tie configuration to an eight tire configuration. of course back in the day we didn't have these new water proof electronics so we had to either build a water proof box or stuff the electronics in to a balloon. by setting up the truck in this configuration the clod buster could do something no other monster truck of its class could do at the time. it could swim.
    Now just imagine what might happen if you did that with your Xmaxx and didn't bother to mention it to that bunch you run with. in fact you could even challenge them to a game of follow the leader and drive right out in to the middle of the pond and watch them try to fallow you... hahahaha!

      B Deshi when people get new tires they put them on backwards then once there broken in they will swap them on correctly. it makes your tires wear evenly and last longer

    Dont forget when you hydroplane. put chopped up foam pool noodle inside body shell (if the water is deep) if just a puddle doesnt matter. tape over holes on wheels , so they dont let in water, and put your battery's inside plastic bag and tie the bags on with string or something around the battery cables, just so your lipos dont get wet.

    Now that I (FINALLY! :-) have my own X-Maxx, this video make me really appreciate the brilliant engineering of this platform. It' seems baffling that Traxxas has not used it for more than just a monster-truck. It could also be a giant buggy, a quad, a side-by-side, etc.

    It's a shame they don't sell the xmaxx in kit form. The best way to learn about your rc is to build it

    on a stripped screw,if you use a drill bit and make the hole perfectly round sometimes you can hammer a hex driver into the hole and make a new hex to get it out.

    Its your gear mesh... Take a piece of paper and put it between the motor pinion gear and the transmission drive gear tighten up the mesh just enough to slide the paper out without ripping or tearing

    Just a note for anyone new to using brake cleaner to clean your RC and parts. You have to make sure it’s the kind that’s plastic safe. There is some that will melt basically any plastic it touches and will ruin your entire RC.

    If your still having trouble with the grinding i would check inside the motor. When i was bashing with my Slash 3 of the teeth came off of the 90 tooth gear inside the motor. It was making a similar sound to what your X-Maxx was.
