I showed this to my little sister (She's six) because she loves this song and afterwards she just sat in silence for a few moments and turned to me and said very seriously "I wanna be a rainbow singer too".
I saw The Wizard of Oz when it came to Cleveland back in February, I believe, and I absolutely loved it; being a huge fan of the movie. One of my favorite parts of the play that I actually liked more than the movie is how she belts out the end of Over The Rainbow!
I have to admit, this was a well done version of Over the Rainbow. What a way to improve the song with a modern touch without ruining the classic. Love the intro piece into the main lyric. The children was impressive.
It's one of my pet hates- when the audience claps along. There are talented bassists and drummers creating that beat who I want to hear, not peoples' hands colliding!
This girl sings over the rainbow so very beautiful, however, it only shows the particular bell like quality of Miss Garland's spectacular voice. No one else can ever match it because it was one of a kind.
She's lovely. Of course J.G. still "owns" this song , no one will ever do better, but this is a fine rendition . Really enjoyed it. Thanks for posting .
I voted every week for Danielle..she is enchanting..such a wholesome young women..perfect for the part of Dorothy..she was hypnotic on stage in the west end..the entire show was a feast for the senses ..pure magic from start to finish.
Royal Variety is a show they put together every year for the Royal Family of the UK. Hence, Royal. Les Mis is set in France but first sang in English too.
We get up a 12 And start our work at one Take an hour for lunch And then at two we're done Jolly good fun If only work was that easy A bunch of people are saying how adorable these british kids voices are I guess we are quite adorable lol
I applaud her *applause* well done. The kids were a cute touch and her costume was flawless I wish the ruby slippers had more of a sparkle effect like in the movie or WICKED. overall well done!
The royal variety show is a british show of singers and actors done for charity. The original movie is American starring Judy Garland. The theatrical play is produced both in America an Britain on Broadway and in the East End respectively.
what I said was in America on Broadway and in Britain in the East End, that's I meant by respectively. Also Great Britain is the correct term for the British Isles which England is a part of. Sorry I didn't mean to confuse you. :)
jackolas2007 No, it's not a prequel -- Wicked takes place overlapping the timeframe of The Wizard of Oz, just from the other side's (i.e., the "Wicked" Witch's) point of view.
I didnt no the royal variety was at the palladium and I remember watching it on tv!! Danielle was so amazing, saw it two months ago, she sounds different on here though. But still brill x
What Danielle has compared to someone like Jess is that she doesn't think things are only believable when you have to use so many expressions. Danielle is totally simple and just becomes the character. She is a gracious performer with extreme talent.
I remember auditioning for this part and every one of the girls in London I was with did not get through. Some screamed, some cried and some just walked off in a huff. I was too busy with a throat infection so I just accepted it, but kudos to danielle x x
I suspect that's because the song has a wistful quality that is somewhat dimmed by sheer belting. She had it in the beginning, but lost it toward the end.
@lumiere85 Actually, I liked this performance of Over the Rainbow. But I visited this show's website and discovered a real mistake that ALW made: He took out the cowardly lion's big solo number, "King of the Forest"!
She does a great job with Over the Rainbow without copying Judy Garland, but also without going off in her own direction like they do with the National Anthem, haha.
I showed this to my little sister (She's six) because she loves this song and afterwards she just sat in silence for a few moments and turned to me and said very seriously "I wanna be a rainbow singer too".
i saw her in Wizard of Oz in the Westend when it was running and it was truly remarkable
Imogen Bird hi
The children were adorable!
Xxx
Over the Rainbow was really nice. I think Danielle's voice has a beautiful and pure tone - perfect for a musical!
beautiful voice of somewhere over the rainbow
I saw The Wizard of Oz when it came to Cleveland back in February, I believe, and I absolutely loved it; being a huge fan of the movie. One of my favorite parts of the play that I actually liked more than the movie is how she belts out the end of Over The Rainbow!
Fantastic! The kids were awesome and Danielle Hope was really amazing. I prefer the belt ending to "Over the Rainbow" over the quiet one.
I love her voice! :'D there should be an official DVD of the whole play!
I agree make it happen someone
I have to admit, this was a well done version of Over the Rainbow. What a way to improve the song with a modern touch without ruining the classic. Love the intro piece into the main lyric. The children was impressive.
I love Danielle's voice.
Alice Saunders she is beautiful voice like an heavenly angel. I love her dress and her hair.
Excellent. She is Dorothy. Greetings from Peru.
Thanks for posting this!

do you mean pet peeves?
+Matthew Plato I prefer the energy and joy which is released by people who are so moved. To each their own... :)
+Matthew Plato But it's so joyful when the audience joins the rhythm. The music enters people's bodies :)
+Matthew Plato Plus you can see the children coming down through the audience clapping, which is usually a signal for the audience to join in.

Isn't it obvious...it's the ROYAL Variety Show, and happens in London Every Single Year.
The royal variety show is a british show of singers and actors done for charity. The original movie is American starring Judy Garland. The theatrical play is produced both in America an Britain on Broadway and in the East End respectively.

lilgiggler35 *west end but I get what you mean 😊❤️
Personally I MUCH prefer Wicked to Wizard of Oz,
They're different shows, with different STORIES. It's like saying "I prefer Annie" on an Oliver video
jackolas2007 they are different shows but wicked is based on wizard of oz because it is telling the story of the witches and why one is evil
lilytate123 It's a prequel. Hence a different story.
jackolas2007
No, it's not a prequel -- Wicked takes place overlapping the timeframe of The Wizard of Oz, just from the other side's (i.e., the "Wicked" Witch's) point of view.
sugarbaby1974
oh who ares, it's a different story to Wizard of Oz, so what I said still stands.
Wonderful
I didnt no the royal variety was at the palladium and I remember watching it on tv!! Danielle was so amazing, saw it two months ago, she sounds different on here though. But still brill x
Those kids remind me of performances at primary school...
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is so cool
The children did an awesome job
Toto is so cute!
You are really good great job
Love this song
the kids just sound like a school choir that practise once a week
@LowellBekker2 Munchkins aren't they? Oompaloompas are from Willy Wonka /Charlie & the Chocolate factory.
Great!

What fun!!! Magical
@Onceaponatime319 She doesn't have to be Judy, she's herself!
I suspect that's because the song has a wistful quality that is somewhat dimmed by sheer belting. She had it in the beginning, but lost it toward the end.
Who's the voice speaking at the start? I definitely recognise it.
PaladinswordSaurfang tom baker ( Dr who)
greyghost1313
Oh now it's obvious. I know him from Little Britain.
tweenies
e
amazing! how is the song the children sing at the beggining called? thanks!
this was beautiful but i have to admit i love the garland version best
@lumiere85 Actually, I liked this performance of Over the Rainbow. But I visited this show's website and discovered a real mistake that ALW made: He took out the cowardly lion's big solo number, "King of the Forest"!
I'm sorry but there is NO other Dorothy but Judy Garland. enough said.
oh yes the children were very good :)
Kristina StihoviĆ
Judy Garland is amazing and a big inspiration of mine (:
That's great and all but like she's dead so trying to get her would be pretty hard
I never said that I'm just saying she will always be Dorothy
She does a great job with Over the Rainbow without copying Judy Garland, but also without going off in her own direction like they do with the National Anthem, haha.
Seen it very good
I be honest I didn't expect him to be in it☺
