Great video, and I'm so glad when I replaced my windshield I didn't see any rust worth mentioning. I wanted to say though, early in the video I had a hard time watching and in fact fell over. Guess I shoulda had a seatbelt on....
It is fortunate that so many parts of the 68-72 Nova and first gen Camaros are the same. I want to find a Nova of this vintage to mess with in my spare time.
I love your videos John. I am a little south of you in Cuthert, Ga. I just started working on my 68 chevy 2 and i have my late fathers 72 nova four door straight six that is next in line. Thank you for all the wonderful and informative videos. They have really helped me out working on my cars.
Good Job --- One of the Hardest rust repairs to do on Any Make of car, especially if No replacements panels are available. These How To videos are well received with the new car enthusiasts to get them started & stayin' in the hobby. Thank You for making them for All of us.
I've had several,my first car was a 72 with a muncie e speed. Wish I still had them. Looking for my next and last 1. Love the channel, glad I found it and subscribed
Looks good John! Gave her a shot of pain! Put the dash in it put the windshield in and seal it it's all good! That rust reformer does work good I've used it too! You will never have a problem with that! I did that on a frame a couple years ago still looks good!
Nice job John. I did very similar job on my 69 Camaro and worked well. I put a large bead of seam sealer where the factory foam was to seal the dash to the cowl.
Looks good, 209! I fear I have the same repair to do on my '69 Firebird. I hoped I could use the patch panels for a '69 Camaro. After seeing this video I'll be on the lookout for a deal on the dash panel. Keep up the good work! P.S. I found a driveshaft for the Firebird. I'll leave you alone about it. 😅
Just finish with new complete cowls and dash in epoxy now thanks to your great channel. I may have welded the holes for the windshield stoppers would you have a picture of where they go?
............................... Excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not a body guy ......... but always interested in finding out how you guys do what you guys do ................. Thanks so much !!!!!!!!!!!! You gave me confidence on starting my project. I think that insulation tape was to prevent vibration rattle noises. Any more tips you have for me before i start? also for rust removal this stuff works great. Ospho 605 Metal Treatment, 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Good content. Not surprised about people flipping about the vin plate. They have no real comprehension about law or reality. I doubt that it is illegal anywhere. If it is going back on the same car how could it be wrong? Makes no sense.
Love the video man keep it up! I recently bought a 68 Nova and your videos helped me a lot. Do you have any tips or advice for me? I got a SBC 350 and a TH350 going in it with a whole new wiring harness. I'm 22 years old so I still don't know much. Thanks!
I’ll be posting the wiring video for this car very soon. My best advice is try not to have car down for more than a few days. If it’s drivable try to drive it some while you work on it. That will keep you from getting discouraged. Thank you for watching.
Hey john question for ya. The eyebrow on 70 nova do they just pop out ? And pop in any scres bolts holding them in . I got new set but can't find any info. Thanks
Nice work. I’m about to do the same thing. I was thinking of adding Vintage Air as well. Should I plan on replacing the whole dash, or do you think I could get away with cutting the existing (for the vent) and just do the panel.
Do i have to remove the fenders to do this? And as far as the cowl panel rust is concerned can i fab up metal to keep water out and give something to wrld to?
Nice job, now the windshield will have a solid base. Will you use butyl tape to install it? Btw, the VIN firing squad is looking for you, better lay low 😂
Didn't know how to send a question so I am doing it here. Sorry if I fouled it up. Just got my 5th Nova. Not 5 total lol, just the 5th time. 1972 with buckets in it. They are and care is all original. So my questions...I know I am getting older, and fatter, but the seats don't seem to move back very far, at least it isn't in my memory, I can barley get in the thing lol. Is this how they ar5e, or is something not correct do you think? thanks for your time
@@Shop209 I will wait you don’t need to measure. Car looks great but hiding a lot of little issues I am working through. Was funny, I only took it for short test drive. Didn’t realize until I was on the highway in pouring rain the windshield leaks like it’s not there and it has 4:56 gears. Yea white knuckle 2 hour drive home at 50 mpg lol. Thanks for answering and for having a Nova channel
Hey John, what's going on? I got a quick question? I was looking at a nova, I guess. Maybe? It was a 68 or 9. My question is the quarter windows? I have a 72 Nova. I went to roll the back quarter window all the way down , But it does not roll all the way down into the quarter panel do some of the different year novas from 68 to 74 to the quarter Windows roll all the way down or not?
All of the 68-74 quarter windows roll down UNLESS they have been changed out with a new reproduction channel and slide. Those won’t roll down from what I understand.
Wait….we’re NOT putting a Camaro Dash in the Budget Build? Are you cutting up that Rusty Dash into Trading card size pieces and selling them for $5 on the next live stream to help support the build?
Great video, and I'm so glad when I replaced my windshield I didn't see any rust worth mentioning. I wanted to say though, early in the video I had a hard time watching and in fact fell over. Guess I shoulda had a seatbelt on....
Definitely needs to be on a shirt ! Shop 209 on front and that on the back ! Lol. Great video. Take care John
Another good video, I'm working on my 1970 nova, this keeps me motivated, keep it going.
It is fortunate that so many parts of the 68-72 Nova and first gen Camaros are the same. I want to find a Nova of this vintage to mess with in my spare time.
I really need to dig into my Nova and fix all the rust. Great video! 👍

No problem. Looks like I’ll have a few 4 door parts available soon. Lol. Let me know if you need anything

I’m enjoying Frankennova and other nova projects including this one you’re working on now
Good stuff, brand new used now! 👍

Thanks for the lesson. Looks great 👍
Excellent work John!!!
Like the more frequent uploads, much appreciated. Keep it up!
Thanks! I’m trying
Hey John, great job as usual!
Always impressed with your work. I need to make the leap and fix my rusted wheel wells.
Thanks!
Can’t wait to see the final result!
My first car was a 69 nova with a 6 cylinder loved that car
Currently doing patch panels on mine. Mine was a little less rusty than yours, but in the same spots. This helps give me a little insight.
Thanks!
Dude liking all the new content! Good stuff
Thanks man!!
Great job on replacing this panel. I didn’t realize that a Camaro panel would work on a Nova.
Looking forward to more on the Budget Nova

Thanks! Yeah. I have sprayed it on some stuff that got left outside and it still didn’t rust thru.
Very nice job John.
Good face lift.
That will last for many years.
Thanks for sharing.
Take care, Ed.

Very good job like always thanks.
Good job 👍👍
Nice job
Love your work👍💯
Keep up the good work
I'm just putting this out here but I wish I could buy a 74 Nova
great video. i wasn't familiar with that rust reformer.
I like it. It chemically converts the rust and it has worked great for me.
But John…the VIN PLATE! 😂
Lol. DON’T

No. They have little speed nuts that are hard to get to. I think there’s 3 but might be 4
@@Shop209 ok thanks for the info

Not sure. I’d have to look more closely.

anything I can do to help the algorithm along I'm cool with that

Sounds like it’s original. I’m 6’1 and they just aren’t that far back. I can get a measurement for you. Mine are original too.

The old dash needs to be replaced as long as you put the vin number on the new dash it’s better than nothing

Wait….we’re NOT putting a Camaro Dash in the Budget Build?

Hmm. Think anyone would buy the pieces? Lol
What year is the nova?
1969
It's called a Wizz wheel ......not a ziz wheel
Not in my shop. Lol
