Youve probably been told this already tim but zoning is where a character keeps their distance from you by using any sort of their projectile attacks to make sure you either never get close or if you do use it to set up a combo
Welcome to the Mortal Kombat community! Loved the vid and I think a great video idea could be getting Jev to coach you, just teaching you the basics of terminology, frame data and kombos. Would be awesome to see you going into Kombat League in the future (Kombat League is basically ranked)
I was legit thinking the same thing. Those vids would be so entertaining to watch.
A big key to controlling the fight and doing big combos, is keeping your enemy stuck between the edge of the map and you. Notice how Jev does this alot. And keep up the great vids on MK.

Tim, subzero's story lore is actually pretty interesting, in the previous game b4 the timeline restarted subzero from mk1 was called "noob saibot" nd was an unalive ninja that was corrupted by Quan-chi, (story is from mk11) the subzero from mk11 is kui Liang which is scorpion in mk1 and the original scorpions name was hanzo hasashi, the original scorpion does not exist in the mk1 time line instead kui Liang is scorpion now

Hey Tim, i didnt know what zoning meant either since im also coming back to mortal kombat after years. but after a little research, zoning is basically spamming a projectile to keep ur opponent away from you.

I will say when anyone plays raiden you’re literally doing the same two combo strings into each other and getting insane amounts of damage. He’s the easiest braindead character in the game which is why he’s seems so good to use.

The towers aren't all the same all the time, the gamemode would get very stale otherwise. And the difficulty of each tower is determined by how many levels, challenges, and gameplay modifiers are in the tower. Only the difficulty slider determines how difficult any enemy really is, not the tower. You can face the same medium difficulty enemy in a novice tower or higher.
When someone mentions percentages in some of these games, their talking about damage to the enemy's health bar. Example, if we started a round, and throws out a 14 hit combo, it can do maybe 25% or 45% of health bar.
"Zoning" is when someone keeps you at a distance with with their moves.
Would be nice to see more gameplay of MK1.
