How is this intro almost 35 years old and still has the energy, music, character and animation quality to rival that of something in 2023? A masterpiece.
Because it's a timeless masterpiece
The start to this theme is simply incredible…the flutes intro is a work of brilliance
It just goes to show how bad things were in 2023, really.
35 years later, and I STILL get the same goosebumps now when I see that opening scene as I did as a kid.
Beach Head tells a newcomer in training not what to call him as he tells him Don't you call me sweetheart.
A generation of kids propagandized into thinking DoD was patriotic.
St😈😢😍😍💜💛💜t😈😢🍇🎼🎼👐🎼👐🎼👐🎼👐🎼🍒👐🍒👐🍒🍒🍒🎼👐🍕🍕🍕😎😎😎😎😎😍😍😍
It is a great show
Me too! It's awesome!!!!!
I was 18 when this came out and I and my friends were glued to this movie like we were 8!! I’m 54 now and still got chills the moment this movie began just like I did way back then! Thanks for the awesome upload and bringing back so many great memories for me!
Glad you enjoyed it!
👍👍
My company has an idea for a spectacular skit performance set to the intro where GI Joe thwarts CC’s attempt to take over the GI Joe convention they’re all guests in. The trick is finding enough willing recruits, since it involves at least 20 people
The intro still rules even after all these years.
Is that Destro singing the intro song? Rulez!
Man, I love it!!!
The hardest intro of any movie live-action or animated.
I watched just for the intro.
Indeed it still does!
I’m 46 y/o, grew up watching all 80’s cartoon’s and the opening to this movie is so emotional. I think I have 2 different DVD’s for this movie. I have 3 different Transformers movies one DVD.
Tell us you're a virgin WITHOUT telling us you're a virgin.
Yup! This and the 1985 Transformers movie. I saw that in the theater too when it came out. Warm, pleasant day in the summer. Mid-day showing on a Sunday.
Sgt. Slaughter's Renegades:
- Mercer, an ex-Cobra Viper, who've saw the light.
- Red Dog, booted out of professional football for unneccessary roughness.
- Taurus, a circus acrobat with a few loose bats in his big top.
If this doesn't bring a proud and memorable tear to your eye, I'm not sure you are alive.
Why is it that even decades later, every time I hear this daggone intro song I want to re-up back into the Marines?!? Holy crap, I'm actually singing along! I always loved the rivalry between Leatherneck and Deep Six. Thank you to the Channel and to UA-cam for putting up quality retro shows like GIJoe, Transformers, ThunderCats, and Fat Albert so that I can show my 15yrs old sons what quality cartoons really are!
Yo Joe/Semper Fi!!!
YO JOE!
The Leatherneck/Wet Suit bromance/rivalry was easily the best part of the series. My favorite exchange between them came from the episode The Most Dangerous Thing In the World:
{the Joes realize someone is about to fire the particle gun}
Wet Suit: Who could be that stupid?
Leatherneck: Well, you're here, so that leaves....
Everyone: SHIPWRECK!
Because you're meant to. The entire series was one long propaganda campaign for the US military.
Which is kind of ironic, given that since WWII we've been acting more like Cobra than the Joes. Just ask the survivors of our campaigns in places like Libya, Syria, Lebanon, most of Africa, most of South America, etc. ...If you can find any.
@@AwesomeRandomVidz Hi,
Do you have any of the CBS Storybreak Episodes where you can find and upload them?
Please, let me know!
Thank you for your service
Back in 1987 I was 6 years old when I saw this awesome movie.
The sound of the item that the Woman used to cut the fence are the sounds of a Lightsaber.
I agree because I was then 14 years old back in 1987 when this movie was then around .
It is the sound effect from the lightsaber.
Pythona must be a sith!
😉
That intro is pure adrenaline.
Makes me wanna do chin ups!
Many of the characters and vehicles in this I had as toys. It was a golden time in the early 80s to be a kid. Young people today won't get to ever experience what our generation did.
Good ol days mate! Life was simpler back then
It was ok.
YES IN DEED DEFINTLY EXACTLY ZINCHO !
This cartoon movie from the 80s is somehow hundreds of times better than those silly Hollywood ones
👍
Think of this
Channing Tatum Duke
Dennis Quaid: Gen. Hawk
Dwayne Johnson: Roadblock
Adrienne Palicki: Lady Jaye
Mike Mizanin: Wild Bill
Dj Cotrona: Flint
James Davies: Mouse
Melanie Vallejo: Cover Girl
Ray Park: Snake Eyes
@@kinger982 Jesus christ, no. Just no. Fucking terrible idea.
Who said Cobra Commander is a coward!? Cobra Commander took the dang time bomb and placed it himself on The Statue Of Liberty as hundreds of red JOE lasers came at him....all factually MISSED him too which is funny too.🤣
This intro was supposed to be the ending of the movie, but someone decided that much inferior Cobra La story was far better. And it was the end of G.I. Joe. Cobra Commander was never a coward, but ruthless, scheming battlefield mastermind, but you know, this was intended for kids , so any violence was forbidden, so they turned the entire series into charade. On the other hand, the comics were far more serious.
When I was a little kid I loved GI JOE. I had all the toys and everything. I have this movie recorded on VHS and would watch it all the time. After all these years the opening and this movie still is awesome And that song......COBRAAAAA. Out of all the cartoons I grew up watching I feel this movie holds up the best.
Pythona was one of the most badass characters ever in GI Joe. How she never received a proper toy figure release in the original 80's line, has always baffled me. They gave Golobulus, Nemesis Enforcer, and even the damn guard a toy figure. She got snubbed, and was one of the characters with the most screen time in the movie. I even realized this as a kid. Bugs me even more now in adult life.
You don't know? Lady figures for a boy's toyline supposedly never sold well. Outside of Barbie that is but she's for girls.
It is odd she didn't get a figure even as a mail away, maybe she'll appear in the Classified line...🤔
Arrcee was treated the same way remember????
@@charlesdavis7285 i would've loved to had a G1 arcee figure. I could never find her in the toy store
@@skeletor7908 A prototype of her was made but it looked horrible. A Unicorn prototype was also made. If you Google it, You can probably find both of them to see what I mean.
Best Cartoon Movie 🍿
YO JOE!
I'd probably agree with that actually
The GIJOE cartoons inspired me to start drawing my own comics and create my own characters. Such a wonderful time in my life that I cherish to this day.
I still have every single comic book that I created.
Best opening song for a cartoon movie. I, too remember seeing, singing, and crying at Duke's death. This is the Ultimate G.I JOE, with every character represented except Storm Shadow.
Spoiler, Duke didn't die! The Doc saved him..
@@richallenxbox1976 the same ideas come from money. They rewrote and inserted excerpt at the end.(Remember: Prime's death was received negatively). P.s
This movie was made before transformers. It was just released later to the public and never made it to theaters.
@@richallenxbox1976 Whatever. That's just a bullshit retcon. The video footage is of him dying. The audio was later edited to reflect the hypersensitivity of mothers with nothing better to do.
@@rasheemslater98 They brought Optimus Prime back to life is season 3 on The Transformers to satisfy upset fans LOL!🤖🙏👍👏
StormShadow did appear in the beginning as part of the audience of Serpentor. You could see his arm
The intro was the best part of the movie
Pythona's infiltration also good imo
I had a GI Joe collection back in the later 1980s. I had all the toys, the fortress, the aircraft carrier, the F-14, and almost all of the smaller vehicles and supporting toys. I also saved the character bio from the action figures packaging. I had a full recipe card pack with all the bio-cards
I sold my GIANT collection of GI Joe in 2002, I got a few offers...my collection sold for $9,300 USD
Wow what a collection. 👍🪖
Yes you were one of few rich kids
The series still kicks arse, even up to this time. 😎
I still remember the lyrics, instruments and lines from the G.I Joe movies and shows after almost 4 decades. Still the best cartoon out there.
This intro aged really well. When I found out that Duke was to supposed to die originally, the scene now made sense. When I saw this as a kid I was wondering how the hell can someone “fall into a coma” with a snake spear in their chest.
I watched this as a kid. I said, "I know that they're stepping it up, and shit got real, but... y'all killed Optimus Prime last year! Come on!"
It was a gutless move to add in that crap about a coma. The scene makes it extremely obvious that he dies. How pathetic that some people were so bothered about a fucking robot dying in an animated movie that they felt compelled to publicly whine to prevent it from happening again.
I literally thought he died up until just recently lmao. I saw that movie so many times as a kid and I guess maybe I was too young to know what a "coma" was and didn't register the line at the end over the radio that he was ok.
@@fhb3 It was that very thing that cause them to put him in a coma. The backlash to Primes death was big and the show took a hit too.
Can't beat the 80s cartoons...80s rule
👍👍🪖
Longtime fans have doubtlessly heard that Duke was originally supposed to DIE at the hands of Serpentor. They changed it because of the huge outcry over Optimus Prime's death in "Transformers the Movie", which was released shortly before this. It's still a powerful scene, nonetheless.
Yeah, the scene where they report that Duke is awake from the coma was the old footage that was suppose to announce he died. If you look closely, no one is happy they are somber and sad at the original plot.
PRIME?!? WHAT ABOUT STARSCREAM, DAMNIT!!!
@@marshallkrich Starscream had a grand and epic death though. Lol.
@@marshallkrich Starscream! Ha! He was "Bad Comedy". lol
That's the truth!!
One of the best quality character driven cartoon movies ever…YO JOE !!
The part when Duke Flies and put the bomb on the cobra skyship and takes off always gives me goosebumps all the time 😎😎😎😎
The coolest!!!!
Who would of thought that this was better than the live action movies
👍
😂😂😂
Ikr?? That is too sad
Would have
Oi! "Rise of Cobra" & "Retaliation" ROCKED!
(I don't care what anyone says.)
This movie is what got me into G.I. Joe in the first place and inspired me to write my own stories about America's daring highly-trained special mission force.
Same here.
G.I. Joe Inspired me to created my own original characters and stories.
Awesome! Glad to hear it! Yo Joe!
@AwesomeRandomVidz: I really felt bad for Cobra Commander. He definitely was no coward, but he was ruthless. He stood up to Serpentor on multiple occasions. He definitely was no lackey to Serpentor. He even worked hard at creating The Coil, which was the answer to Serpentor’s Cobra.
Just imagine if Cobra Commander succeeded in fully creating The Coil. It would be a dogfight between them and Cobra/Cobra La. So yeah, Cobra Commander got an unfair trial and an unfair punishment since it didn’t fit the crime.
righty'o mate
I wish he had succeeded. He would have finally had freedom to do what he wanted and had his Navy.
Hands up for everybody in the comment section that ended up putting on a uniform at some point and was partly this kickass cartoon intro's fault.😂
The best recruiting slogan never paid for.
I love GI Joe the original series and movie rocks then and now it made my childhood awesome ohh the memories
Im 47 years old now and i still have over 100 action figures in storage now. I remember growing up i wanted that aircraft carrier really bad. Never got it but a friend that lived in the same apartments got it and we would play everyday.
Even though this was aimed for kids or teens at the time it's a pretty entertaining story and the action sequences aren't bad either
Love it.
These GI JOE guys and gals are PERFECT!!!!! 😍 I loved this movie!
I think GI-Joe-The Movie!-(1987) Was a great way to go out it went out with a BANG! not a whimper which unfortunatley happens to a lot Of Movie-Franchies/Tv-shows they dont' know when to call it quits and they wind-up with egg on thier faces. then later on they admit that they should have known better and stretch It and keep milking It. when all and all it had ran its' course. and they were flogging a dead horse instead of leaving it alone.
My favorite moments:
1. 43:25- 43:35. That moment never fails to make me LMAO! I think a big part of it is the Baroness's voice actress's delivery of her line!
2. While pretty much ALL of Sergeant Slaughter's moments are epic (I love his first line "AT EASE, DISEASE!"), his fight against Nemesis Enforcer is absolutely magnificent!
"AND THIS, IS FOR *THE U.S. OF A!*"
Love the sg
For those that don't know it originally planned to have superior kill duke but due to the backlash they got from killing Optimus prime in transformers the movie they very quickly changed the script.
I was ten years old when this awesome movie came out! We don't see good old school movies anymore ! My friends and I loved watching GI Joe Monday through Friday afternoons . Where did the time go with us growing up so fast y'all? My favorite part of the movie is when Serpentor tells Cobra Commander what to do. He can't stand Serpentor at all! I kinda of feel bad for Cobra Commander because he was used to giving the orders to Zartan and the Dredknocks !
Love this movie so much fun to watch 💛
Thank you, Awesome Random Vidz. For uploading this bluray movie.
You're welcome
I'm pretty old but I still remember when I was a kid collecting all the action figures and the intro music still sounds great and kicks Butt.
You are not old man. I'm in my late 40's I still like this cartoon.
pretty old...what, in your damned 40s? enough of you western world weirdos so hung up on age. if you're that old...retire and check into a nursing home! YO JOE!
Before it's time...one of the best!
thx 4 uploading dude!! greatest animation movie ever
Glad you enjoyed it
1:07:21 - it never gets old. Not sure why they turned this action cartoon to a comedy but they did there for a few seconds
I went to an apple store and played this on loop for the whole store to hear

The comments alone are worth it!!!
Greatest cartoon ever made!
The intro to the movie still gives me goosebumps and I’m a cool 50 spot it never gets old I still love my childhood Yooooo Joe !!! Ah yes they were Cobra Commander plans but his squad were the actual idiots
I remember seeing this on TV and I was like "what is this" because it was so much better than the normal episodes at the time. I didn't know it was a movie as a kid
Cartoons back in the day were the best..WTF happened?
I was 13 years. I remember I felt so bad Cobra Commander.
Yeah, me too.
Me too.
Thanks for uploading!
Welcome mate!
Those first few minutes are just So Epic in a cheesey but cool ridiculous awesome sort of way. How can you not atleast smile when this opening starts up?
😄👍
Couldn't agree more!
1:06:34 - 1:07:00 , I just love how the newcomers take a helicopter up in the air, they don't last 5 minutes before getting shot down, they crash through a building, destroying it and the helicopter, they all walk away unhurt, and NO ONE says anything about this again LOL! 😅😂
This cartoon is one best one even still doesnt make better until this time
👍🪖
Duke and a bunch of Joes actually died in this movie.
doc saves them all in special cannon cut scene, also Pythona and the other cobrala bros live as well. All to fight another day.
I thought cobra commander was already a snakeman anyway because sometimes he hisses when he talks most of the time
Agree, the intro is top notch.
Still have no idea why Stormshadow was not in the film except for a few seconds.
Wait SERIOUSLY!?
What do you mean? He was the main protagonist!
But he's a ninja, so damn hard to spot 😂
What a seriously mistake.
They would never make such a patriotic intro to anything today, I am thankful this hasn't been removed by UA-cam(keep it a secret).
Thank you for this! I haven't seen this movie in years, many many years! This was a special treat.
Glad you enjoyed it! YO JOE!!
Great upload, I remember watching this as a kid in the 80's, only in the UK it was called Action Force. Ace to have been able watch it again all these years later. Cheers, mate!
Thanks mate enjoy! YO JOE!
@@AwesomeRandomVidz ha ha, in the UK they changed YO JOE! to FULL FORCE!!
haha
I’ve got the PAL DVD half way through it changes over from GI Joe to action force
@@paulsenior33 Singing the song "Action Force: International Hero" doesn't have the same ring to it as _G.I. Joe_ does it? XD
Don Johnson, in the '80s, at the height of his fame, as Lt. Falcon, can't be beat.
I remember when I was a kid I used to come home from school G. I Joe used to come on at 4 and Transformers came on at 4:30 . This was back in the 80 's.
Aww the memories
I just realized that 5:14 Cobra Commander was actually standing up for his comrades. And they repaid him by blaming him. Very disloyal, illogical and self-eating bunch. No wonder the Joes always won.
Well, they are villains. As the saying goes, "There is no honor among thieves & cutthroats." And that's what COBRA in all its incarnations (and its real-life form in the Taliban, ISIS, and other such radicalized terrorist groups) are at their core.
42:07 - "I'm sending you to the SLAUGHTERHOUSE!"
You know, it would be funny if the intro was the Cobra operation that led to the argument towards Cobra Commander by the rest of Cobra High Command. An attack meant to frighten all of America by blowing up one of its most popular monuments, a simple operation, foiled so badly that Cobra didn’t just lose a large number of troops and vehicles, but a whole carrier, a loss not so easy to replace. And it wouldn’t be the first time Cobra Commander lost such vessels under his command. Serpentor just finally snapped that something so important was lost in an attempt to destroy a statue.
How close was the Statue of Liberty to the former Twin Towers of the former World Trade Center (prior to 9-11)? I can’t say with 100% certainty whether or not the Statue was on the list of targets for the 9-11 hijackers (or Al Qaeda).
The Statue was a Decepticon target during the Transformers G1 Episode Cosmic Rust. The Aerialbots helped the Autobots defeat the Stunticons & Decepticons.
Roadblock was the dude.
The B.E.T!..........love it.
It’s a pity that cartoons nowadays don’t look like this anymore
There's no more passion in it, its become too money driven.
Well naw not yet well some of them do but most of them look too cartoony now like sponge bob n bugs bunny instead of them looking like real animation characters but they still entertaining anyway lol
Yeah now it's all about talking sponges
Yes intro is on point and im 45 and still will watch this with no interruption like a kid not even from my lady kids or gkids bc it was just amazing in our time and btw cobra lalala
This is my favorite movie wow that is why I have this saved and I’m keeping watching as long as I can

Gen. Hawk: That's easier said than done. First they've got to survive Beach Head.
Beach Head: All right Ten-Hutt!!!
I was fortunate enough to meet Dick Gautier, the voice of Serpentor, once. He told me and a few other guys a funny story about the time he was a guest star on "Kolchak: the Night Stalker." In fact, he said, "I really shouldn't talk about this." I said, "But you're going to." He said, "Oh, yeah, I am." 😄
