      Agree as for 25,000m give or take that treaty had been the bedrock of hutt power, indenturing several subject races to serve them in many different capacities. So with its collaspe and couples with the kicking they got off the vong, suspect that hutt power and controlled space is going to shrink radically down to a few controlled star systems around nal hutta, if legends had continued after fate novel series..

    You should definitely do a video on Xim someday. The Despotica is such a gold mine of obscure lore to be discussed at length. From the historical events, to the dramatizations of Xim's life, to Xim's connections to the GenoHaradan, to his fearsome War Robots. But perhaps the strangest footnote is the War Robot ZIMM, who survived to the modern era and claimed to be a mind-upload of the infamous Despot.

    Yo could we get a follow up maybe about the Kajidic system and how it actually worked? Cause besides the Treaty of Vontor, it seems like a bunch of physically incapable slugs relying on armies of (by nature) violent and treacherous mercenaries to not kill and rob them in a mass mutiny. But… they clearly have something in place to avoid it.
    But are they a Paper Tiger? Slave armies with exploder chips can only do so much. Once they’re allies dip they’re done

    • @boobah5643
      @boobah5643 Рік тому +5

      The Hutts are _not_ a physically incapable race; they're devastating physical combatants, for whatever that's worth in a galaxy full of blasters and force adepts (though Hutts can make use of those, too.) They're big, but a young, fit Hutt is stronger and tougher than any of those 'tough' bipeds like Trandoshans or Wookies. Plus, Hutts are known for being smart, quick on their mental feet, and strong willed.
      Part of the problem is small sample size, with more than a dash of the inmates running the asylum. That is, George only ever showed us Jabba, and he's what Hutts aspire to, not a typical example, but every time some fanfic writer (even those employed by Lucasfilm to create new _Star Wars_ media) decides they need a mob boss they thoughtlessly cast Jabba in the role, so we keep seeing one decadent mob boss Hutt after another.

    • @occam7382
      @occam7382 Рік тому +5

      I've actually tried to create a whole lore for the Tionese in an alternate post-Endor timeline. Basically, after the Empire, and then the Zsinj Empire collapsed, the Tionese used that opportunity to rebel, using reactivated Separatist-era battle droids armies and fleets to drive out Imperial forces, priates, and other criminal scum, before declaring independence as their own republic, the Republic of Tion. After this, Tion would annex all the former Tionese sectors, and create a Tionese vassal state in the old Warrior's Trace known as the Salin Confederation, based on Jabiim. In the years after the Galactic Civil War, Tion would go on to become one of the most powerful states in the Outer Rim, building up the 2nd largest military - the Tionese Defense Forces (TDF), that was only rivaled by the New Republic Defense Forces (NRDF) - and establishing economic and military ties with many former Separatist worlds, such as Serenno and Mustafar. They even made a (somewhat tenous) peace with the New Republic and established trade with them. But Tion's biggest endeavor would be the so-called Kiriium Reclamation Initiative, which - as the name suggests - was about terraforming and colonizing the Ash Worlds/Kiriium Reaches, so that they (along with the Salin Confederation) could eventually be incorporated in Tion proper, just like the Thanium Worlds had been. Can you tell I spent way too much time thinking about this?

    I wouldn't say that those who could challenge the Hutts are few. There have been several powers that held enough strength and resources to not only contest the Hutts, but crush them had they been so inclined.
    The Hutts'success has far more to do with expertly playing all sides politically and economically. Yes, they have the potential for military might, but it's specifically because they didn't compete militarily with most of the major galactic powers that they remained intact for so long.
    The Galactic Empire could have absolutely crushed the Hutts, there was just no need to do so with the Hutts largely cooperating and paying the Empire. Similarly the New Republic had the military and economy to conquer the Hutts but their own charters and policies prevented that ever being considered. The same can be said for the Republic and Confederacy. The Vong did conquer Hutt space completely devoting only a fraction of their attention to it.

    • @CoreysDatapad
      @CoreysDatapad  Рік тому +11

      "The biggest military power" being able to beat them fits within the definition of "few", and at the times they did change their soft power to hard power, people took notice, and were suitably worried about them. That's part of why they were able to survive the entirety of galactic history as a relatively independent power. The Empire *could* destroy them, but it wouldn't be simple, and that's a very short period of galactic history. The point being, thinking of them as a small regional power is inaccurate, especially when looking at the context of tens of thousands of years of galactic history, and not simply the last 50 years of it.

    • @pussy_destroyer2294

      @CoreysDatapad what's so hard? Hutts unlike rebellion don't have any real plot armour besides them being icons of crime for star wars. But it's problematic enough for Disney I could see them ditching hutts for some more family friendly or just new original version of them. Take out the hutts, replace them with any other cartel or crime structure from star wars, and you won't lose anything unlike with rebellion which is essential for continuation of republic. Send Vader after them, the worlds where hutts are too entrenched can be simply blown up with a death star or bombarded into dust with star destroyers. Still don't see issue.

  • @wedgeantillies66
    @wedgeantillies66 Рік тому +1

    For all their criminality and greed, that defines them in original trilogy era of star wars, back right at the dorn of star wars history, they did had some bite to them, militarily speaking, even if it was a horrendously terrible bite to it, such as use of terror tactics, that explained how it became a local galactic power in the days of the old republic.
